Escapism is SUCH a great idea! I went with four friends and we all loved it. They put you in a room and really don't explain anything, and it's up to you to figure things out before the time runs out. We were sooo close to finishing, but didn't quite make it - just one more clue to go! We all want to come back again soon and try out one of the other three rooms. It really is a brilliant idea, and a unique way to spend an evening with a small group of friends. We also decided to get food afterward. We tried different pizzas, which were all good, but we really did have to wait quite a while for each one. But Strike has made put their space space in between the bar and the bowling to good use and created a few rooms with the challenge to escape them within 50mins. I was so excited when my friends told me about this place because I'd played those escape games on your phone where you tap around a room looking for clues. Again, if we had listened to Lonely Planet, we would have never found this place...even though they're a great resource, sometimes their hipster suggestions are off the mark. After our sunset cruise, we noticed a sign outside this business for 4 dollar champagne. We ordered a glass and then were told if we spend over 15 dollars, we get one free game of bowling or half hour of karaoke. We did the bowling first. It's like disco bowling. Fun and people everywhere laughing and having a great time. We ordered another round and chose the karaoke half hour. Since not many people were doing karaoke, we had our own private room for over an hour! It was awesome hearing how awful of a singer you can actually be! Normal situations that's as easy as twist the door knob and walk out, except Sydney Escape room leaves you locked in without a key and needing a code in other to gain freedom. King st wharf offers the escape room in butcher, forensic or garden. This time I was to enter the enchanted garden. Shout out to the staff who really made us feel like we were entering a secret location far away from the beautiful darling harbour. The room was spooky and small and made you want to find the clues and get out. Don't want to give away the game but just comment that it was very well laid out and appropriately timed to ensure escape was possible. Best to work together to get the best results. No phones allowed so just brains. Will reveal a little secret - WE GOT OUT . High fives all around. Would definitely do this again and enter the other rooms. First time bowling in Sydney!! Holler!! Ended up at Strike after my coworkers and I tried going to Kingpin. One hour wait!? No thanks.. We're taking our business to Strike! SERVICE: Girl behind the counter was friendly, courteous and knowledgeable. Gave us two (2) options for our group: (1) Bowl in the same lane with a two hour limit or (2) Bowl in two separate lanes with a one hour limit. We chose the first option. QUALITY: Our seating area was quite clean and stylish. The lanes were greased properly. Wide variety of different sizes balls and finger holes. Lane worked properly with no hiccups (that's a biggie!!!) VALUE: Holy Sh*t it was expensive! $26/person (including shoes) for 2 games of bowling!!!! It was cheaper than Kingpin ($28/person including shoes) but still! They do have some fun incentives: Bowl over 100 and get a FREE GAME! Always a fun night out at Strike. Great for parties or get togethers with friends. I personally love the private karaoke rooms and they aren't too expensive to hire out if you're with a group. The stylish bowling shoes are so much better than the clown shoes you get at other bowling places. Why don't I come here more often? It's so much fun and yet I always forget about options like these when I think "what should we do this weekend?" This is a very interesting "all in one" kindof place where it neither excels in something but it is good if you like mixing it all in: - Bowling (about $10 per person). Probably the thing this place does the best - obvious for a business called "Strike" I guess. - Karaoke .. $5 each if you bring at least 15 people, but I'm not a big fan of the system because theres no music videos or original lyrics (comes in handy when you don't know the song or had a little too many drinks ;)) The rooms are really spacious though. - Pool tables and drinks This place is perfect for the corporate function, special occasion party or just a random catchup. read more

Honestly, it doesn't take much at all to get me out bowling. I barely knew the people I came here with- I only knew they were the only ones who weren't keen on going to bed early. Once inside, I knew I had made the right choice for the evening. There was a full bar. Full! I was loving that it was more than just paltry bowling alley offerings. I had to be reminded when it was my turn to bowl more than once because I was enjoying lounging with my drink so much. It's true that everything here is set up for success. Though in short, the staff let everything the business aims for down. I think there was probably one person on staff that seemed pleased to assist us the early evening we attended (and it seemed she was running around making up for everyone else's mistakes and shortcomings as well). The facilities are awesome and the space, for what it is, is really well designed. Drinks are expensive (I asked for a glass of white wine and was given the most expensive one without anyone double checking first) and I wouldn't really recommend the pizza, it tends to be soggy and short on topping. We had a Saturday 5pm game and everyone was clearing out for dinner (and the hens and the bucks hadn't arrived yet, excellent). It was a great time to go, as the place was probably 1/3 empty, but the staff just weren't in it! They wouldn't come over to do drinks service (even though there's a button with a sign on it, telling you to press) and they seemed to know nothing about what they were selling (my sister wanted a glass of sweet tasting wine and they didn't know, end of story, no more asking). A hipster girl in black leather shorts wouldn't even make eye contact, we would have interacted with her at least 4 times throughout our visit. Strike located right on King Street Wharf/Darling Harbour takes bowling but puts a lounge sorta twist to it. with a full on bar it provides a very cool atmosphere when bowling. Strike doesn't have the most lanes of any bowling alley, but i suppose enough to be considered a bowling alley. so if you're planning on bowling then definitely call in advance to make a booking. there are also a few pool tables and some separate rooms for karaoke. so if bowling isn't quite your thing there are a few other activities to do....or you could just drink, drink, drink. the price of bowling seems a bit steep, but you can't help due to location of Strike. none the less i'd give it a go if want something in a less family oriented environment. read more
