THIEVES! FRAUDS This is what they are. Despite of telling them more than a hundred times not to spam me with their calls and texts as I was not in need of the cleaning last year, they kept calling and calling. So I decided to get my dental cleaning done and made an appointment. Unfortunately I had to cancel due to family issues and I did it more than 24 hours before. I called to reschedule and the woman on the phone started to tell me about the cancellation fee. She threatened me that they have my social security if I don't pay the cancellation fee of $75. And they NEVER reminded me that their cancellation policy is more than 48 hours. They are literally so unprofessional and theives. Avoid this place at all costs and let's spread the word in JC. Unprofessional, Disorganized, and Sales-Driven If you need a quick cleaning, this might be your solution in a pinch, but I won't be returning. I booked an appointment with Dr. Saloni Trivedi, DDS, via ZocDoc after reading her positive reviews. On the day of the appointment, they informed me that she doesn't even work that day, despite allowing me to book with her. After several back-and-forths, I agreed to see Dr. Ramya Narayanan instead, confirming multiple times that no one else would see me. When I arrived, the hygienist handled the cleaning, and while she was nice and seemed capable, she suggested a questionably $1,000 procedure to remove my lower retainer--something no other dentist has ever mentioned. Before I even met the doctor, a staff member handed me a card and stood over me, pressuring me to write a review. When the doctor finally arrived, it wasn't Dr. Narayanan as promised but Dr. Alonzo, who spent less than a minute in the room and simply reiterated the retainer removal. After my cleaning, yet another employee (#6 now) insisted on additional X-rays despite already taking new ones. As I was told the initial X-rays were needed before my appointment for the doctor to evaluate my teeth, and now the appointment was already over, I questioned the need for more X-rays. This staff member either didn't understand or couldn't explain. The lack of communication and transparency was frustrating. On top of that, they tried to charge me for my records and X-rays afterward (unheard of in this type of practice), though they eventually sent them for free after I pushed back 6-7 times. This office feels more like a sales operation than a place that cares about patient well-being. Again, if you need a quick cleaning, it might work for you, but I won't be returning. read more

My girlfriend and I both had bad experiences but I will start with hers. She needed heavy dental work. In the process they messed up the alignment on her smile along with bad filling work which fell out later. Imagine dealing with this for 10 months before seeking a more qualified and kind dentist to fix this. My experience goes as follows. My first cleaning wasn't bad. I was seen by a doctor that only seemed to be there for a short time. In getting Invisalign, I had to come into the office four times because the castings kept getting messed up. I was almost rushed into getting my Invisalign taken off prematurely but I had to advocate that I had a large gap in my teeth. The assistants are very nice but they are run extremely poorly. I've been coming to Strong Roots Dental in JC since 2016. I'm a very anxious patient with sensitive teeth when it comes to all dental related things (pretty traumatic childhood with dentists and some genes to blame). I've seen Dr. Narayanan many times and also seen by other dentists here and they have all been patient with me - a nervous wreck when it comes to needles. They're also quick and careful with dental cleanings and fillings. I have also done the Invisalign, root canal, and caps with them as well and they've been very consistent with their service, checking in to make sure I have no discomfort, especially during the year I had Invisalign, which was actually during the pandemic! I prefer this spot as they're not only quick but they've been consistent with their service with consideration of my anxiety such as informing me ahead of time when the needle is coming or what they're doing step by step so I can mentally prepare my mind. read more

The dentist messed up my filling and I will have to have it redone. She was also very rough and unprofessional. I've never had a filling hurt so much. I went here because they accepted my insurance but I would have rather paid the full price out of pocket than have this terrible experience. I left this review on Google and then the office started calling me over and over to get me to take it down, without offering a refund or even apologizing. Eventually I blocked the number and they called me using a different number. Highly unprofessional. Waste of money and time. read more

This place is BEYOND HORRIBLE. I even made a point to go out of my way to tell as many people as I could not to go here. I went to this dentist approximately a year ago to get fillings and a root canal done, something I had never have done before, so I was unfamiliar with the process. The dentist who saw me (Dr. Shreya) conducted the root canal herself, even though they are linked to an endodontist, which I wish I knew at the time, but that information was kept from me. Root Canal Round 1: I was in so much severe pain that they had to stop the root canal process and told me to come back another time to finish the root canal. The next day my face swelled up. The receptionist called me to see how I was doing, I informed her that my face had swollen (thinking that was possibly a red flag), and the receptionist responded by saying, "great, we'll see you next week". This gave me the assumption that the swelling from a root canal is a common reaction and is nothing to be concerned of. LOL. Root Canal Round 2: I returned the following week, after my swelling went down, to continue the root canal. Before we began, I mentioned again about my face swelling from the previous round. Dr. Shreya seemed upset and asked me why I didn't tell her. I told her I had informed the receptionists about this. Upset, she walked over to speak with the receptionist, out of earshot from me. She returned, and with a changed tone, almost speaking to me like a child, she told me that I have to tell them when I have swelling. OK. I did, but clearly, no one believed me or the receptionist was not listening to me when she called me. Either way, bad professionalism. She continued on with the root canal procedure, and AGAIN, I was in so much severe pain that she had to stop, and my face began swelling up again right there! She told me that I had to come back AGAIN to complete the root canal and that I just had to BEAR THROUGH THE PAIN. Considering I have a fair amount of competitive boxing experience under my belt, I think it's safe to assume my pain tolerance is pretty high, which goes to show that on some level they did not believe I was experiencing as much pain as I claimed I was. HORRIBLE. I walked out of the office, and on the way out, the receptionists all spoke to me like a child, gaslighting me and telling me that I need to speak up when I have a swelling.... At that point I was way past fed up. After dealing with all this pain and swelling I was going through from this one root canal, I decided to get a second opinion from an endodontist. I explained to the endodontist about my experience with this dentist and what was going on with my root canal, and he was horrified! He told me that he could do the root canal for me, guaranteed me no pain through it, and even went on to say that "some dentists do not know how to deal with situations outside of the standard root canal" which is why I should have seen an endodontist in the first place. I agreed to have him complete my root canal. He completed it quickly and completely painlessly, to the point where I even cried when I thanked him because of all the pain I had been put through from the dentist at Strong Roots. Before I even completed my root canal with the other endodontist, Dr. Shreya had called me after the 2nd round of failed root canal attempt, to see how I was doing. I informed her that I would be going to another facility to complete the procedure with a professional who guaranteed me no pain. She literally LAUGHED IN MY FACE, and told me no one can guarantee that and continued, again, to say that I am just going to have to bear through the pain. Again, I told her I will not be completing the procedure with them, to which she finally mentioned that they have an endodontist themselves! Why was this information not given to me right away?!?! I was so upset and angry. It was beyond evident that she decided to put her own pride and ego before a patient's well-being, safety, and comfort. What a joke. DO NOT GO HERE!!! There are so many other places with much better dentists that don't think they're god's gift to mankind and are actually professional and caring. Pathetic. read more

After visiting the same dentist for over a decade, I moved out of state and made an appointment with this dentist. I was told that I needed 3 crowns and that my teeth were in such a bad shape that I needed a mouthguard for a total of over $3000. I asked if I could wait till January for a better insurance, but I was answered that this should be done asap, well before January because I would then need a root canal and it would cost more. Three crowns are pretty extensive work so I got a second opinion and the dentist laughed, saying that I really didn't need to touch anything. I got a cleaning last month from a third dentist, and she never mentioned the need for crowns. This month I went to the orthodontist and again he told me I really didn't need crown. After researching Dr. Narayanan & scheduling an appointment in Hoboken on ZocDoc, I called the practice for their email to send my dental records and was told that I would not be seeing Dr. Narayanan, and that she no longer practices dentistry but "oversees the practice". I need a lot of expensive work done, and since I had no information about the replacement doctor; I asked the admin for the full name & spelling of the doctor's name, and she said she didn't know how to spell it. And rather than offering to check and get back to me, she was rude and combative--citing several lame excuses to defend her inability to spell her employer's name before eventually hanging up on me. Naturally, I immediately cancelled the appointment. Then, about 45 minutes later another admin called me--not to apologize or try to reschedule--but astonishingly--to continue harassing me and arguing the spelling issue in defense of the other admin's ineptitude. She then proceeded to yell over me and hurl abusive insults before also hanging up on me. I hope someone can impart some pivotal FACTS to the admins (and hopefully hire some smarter ones): 1. Patients pay the bills 2. Admins are the face of the practice. If my horrendous, unacceptable interface when requesting basic information from these admins was any indication of the standard of care at this practice, then clearly, I dodged a bullet. Therefore, I feel it's my duty to strongly discourage anyone else from also seeking treatment here. I trusted Dr. Ramya based on the Zocdoc reviews, however I was in for a horrible ride. She had my cavity done by a very young dentist who (despite me initially discussing with her that I would need someone with experience to treat me, as I have an ongoing invisalign treatment which needs a lot of expertise) messed up the filling, left a wide gap in my molar, and btw it still hurts when I chew from that side after 6 months. Solely on the basis of fear mongering she convinced me to get a new invisalign treatment with her clininc, promising the best in class services, despite me already on my last set of trays from my previous dentist in who is located in another city. I am looking for a new dentist, after having treated very roughly through the cleaning, cavity treatments. Also, she takes advance payments in full before getting the cavities. I found later that the billing was a bit off, and does not align with the amount the insurance company had approved. Was not worth wasting time going back for the money, but I hope this helps other patients in the same boat as I was, preventing them from the unlawful predatory behavior. read more

I made an appointment via ZocDoc (where they have great reviews) a couple weeks ago and received a reminder email yesterday afternoon. Today, I arrived at their office around 9:30am. My appointment was for 9:45am, but I decided to show up early since there's always paperwork on a first visit. No one from Strong Roots Dental was there when I showed up. They share an office space with a couple other businesses, and I was directed to the waiting area. PATH was having major delays that morning, so I figured they might just be running late. These things happen, and I wasn't in a huge rush, so I waited. By the time 10:15am rolled around, I was ready to take off. One of the doctors (from another business) mentioned that if no one at Strong Roots shows up by 10am, it means they're not coming in. Why didn't they say something sooner? Looks like I'll be looking for a new local dentist, one that actually keeps track of their appointments. I had a groupon and went in for a cleaning. They took me in 50 minutes late and then the cleaning was the fastest and most incomplete on I have ever had. It took about 4 minutes. The they about 3 spots of cleaning and then snapped some x rays. They made me come back to see oral surgeon where the wait was over an hour late and thankfully everything was okay. I bought a Groupon and when I got to the office they wrote GROUPON across my folder in huge letters as if to warn the dentist. They took me right away but the dentist took an hour to actually come into my room...wtf? Then after the x-rays she comes back and is like, "Your teeth look great!" I go on to thank her and let her know that my gums are killing be because it been a year since they were properly cleaned. She then looks it my mouth and she tells me that I have great teeth and gums and that I didn't need much cleaning. Wtf????? So she starts the cleaning by letting me know that the water hose is leaking and that some water might get on me. Ok fine. .... no no no not fine! The back of my head and neck we're soaked!!!! She had no towel for me and my shirt was wet as well!! Then she scrapped only 3 of my teeth. I felt no cleaning in my gums at all! AS I WRITE THIS, MY GUMS REMAIN IN PAIN!!! Literally the worst cleaning I ever experienced! I could have cleaned my teeth on my own and would have done a better job! So I See that my review is currently being "hidden" by Yelp? What kind of practice is that? I have reviewed my comment and I still stand strongly behind every single word that I wrote. And I want to warn everyone that even considers going to this office. As I have booked an appointment through Zoc Doc and this place appears to have much better (artificially inflated I assume) reviews there. Below is what I have posted on 12/19/2015: SO SO BAD! In fact, it was the WORST DENTIST EXPERIENCE in my whole life. I went there almost 1 year ago, and today I came across a paper ad about their shithole dentistry posted on a lamp pole here in Jersey City, so it brought back my awful memories and I decided to warn other people to NOT GO THERE EVER. EEEK! I waited for 1 hour past my appointed time, while the miss doctor took 4 other patients during that hour. That makes about 15 minutes per patient? Great attention to details! Applause! When finally I was admitted to the room, my routine cleaning took more or less 2 minutes. I brush my teeth longer and better than that... Then Miss dentist told me that I have a cavity here there and everywhere and I need a crown and go make an appointment for the next time, so I can freaking charge you some real money. And then she left to another room to take another patient and take his money. I left the place and thought WTF just happened? I felt so scared that my teeth are really so bad and I need multiple fillings :( I would not believe it, so I found a wonderful dentist in Manhattan through the yelp reviews to confirm or dispute this. And he was truly amazing. He told me that my teeth are fine, and only one should be "on the watchlist" to help prevent the cavity appearing. I received a wonderful dental cleaning that took probably 40 minutes (as compared to 2 minutes at the strong roots dental shitplace we are referring to in this article) and was still covered by my insurance. So please do not ever go there. I am still disgusted, even a year later. read more

I was expecting a cleaning with the actual tools (picks/explorer) that dentists usually use. Instead what I got was 2 minutes of water sprinkling using ultra sonic scaler that barely touched the back of mouth. I thought she was breaking the calculus to get started with perio-picks but that was the end of the service and she gave fluoride polish. I was very disappointed but out of courtesy I said nothing and left. I am not a dentist but experience of going through several cleaning sessions atleast I could tell it just a quick coupon redemption gig. Stay away from this place. Dr Ramya Narayanan and the staff are always professional, friendly, and helpful. I've gone here for a few years now for my yearly cleanings and other dental work. The Dr Rayma and her team have listened and answered my questions thoughtfully. Iris, one of the office staff, is always incredibly helpful deciphering and explaining any insurance issues or policies. She doesn't hesitate at all to look up any information you may need, right at the moment you're asking. Lastly, the office has been able to stay on time for my appointments which is greatly appreciated. One caveat: It can be difficult to schedule weekend appointments, so I recommend scheduling a weekday appointment when possible. read more

I really truly like this office. Dr. Ramya is such a nice lady and she will inform you of exactly what you will need or don't need. The other 2 dentist that I met are really nice as well. A friend of mine referred Strong Roots to me after a traumatizing experience I had at a different location. They not only took me in that Saturday (evaluation, xray, consult) but the approval was excepted faster than any other dentist I have ever seen! Yes, they are located towards the back of the building but me personally it doesn't bother me. Fyi- they are relocating before the end of the year to private facility just down the road. The appointments are very quick. I hope that never changes :) I have been at super large facilities before and the wait time is much longer. I have been going to Strong Roots for almost a year or just over a year. I hope to be a long time patient. As far as the wait time, usually I haven't waited longer than 15 mins to be seen. There was one time that I waited a little longer but there were people in front of me. Everyone's experience is different, true, but I just really love all the Dentists there. The specialist treated me also. He performed a crown lengthening procedure on a tooth and it did not take long at all. Maybe 20-30 minutes. Another time, I had a crazy infection in a tooth and called for assistance, the office manager called in my Rx's for me. Because it was an emergency and I was just there, I did not have to go in. I really appreciated that considering the pain I was in. She really went the extra mile. The staff is just really nice all around. I definitely recommend them to any and everyone. read more

I usually am nervous about going to the dentist, but the staff here is super friendly and helpful which helped ease my nervousness. I found them through zocdoc and booked the appointment. Getting here is super easy even if you don't drive because it is walking distance from Grove ST station. Along with an initial consultation, the services I've had done were an xray, dental cleaning + a fluoride add-on which was new and exciting to me, and four fillings. Highly recommend! read more

I love, love Strong Roots Dental. I needed a new local dentist in the area. This review is for my experience in the office with the receptionist, the assistants, and with the dentist, Dr. Amruta Godbole. The office is conveniently located by the Grove Street PATH. The receptionist does a great job with following up and confirming your appointment with you. She's friendly and does a good job with making sure that you understand your insurance coverage. She'll email you a copy of the quote if you need it. The Dr. Godbole is a wonderful dentist. Once you get to her, she'll ask you if you have any concerns and get to work. She tries to be as gentle as possible. She's friendly but also very capable of answering any questions that you have about your teeth. She'll make recommendations on what she feels you might benefit from, but won't try to be pushy or anything like that. I've seen them so far for regular checkups and for filling work that I needed. No complaints so far about their work. This is a good place if you want a pleasant, competent dentist with a receptionist who is also on top of her game. I never thought I would look forward to getting a dental checkup till now. Wait times are typical of a dental office. So go during the week if you can. During the weekend, I don't think I waited for longer than about an hour or so, which is honestly something that I was used to from other dentists. An hour or so is actually pretty good when you come from places where you typically had a 2+ hour wait. Best of all? You can book appointments online with this office. read more

I use to come to Strong Roots a year or so ago based on a deal they were running. That was back when it was a combined lobby and you sat with a bunch of strangers and avoided eye contact. Now with their own section of the building its a hundred times better than it was, and the service has remained wonderful for me. Despite coming here for a deal I found for a simple cleaning and it being a mile further than a few other offices I keep coming back every 6 months. I think most people avoid the dentist for fear or pain, bad news or cost. They've managed to sort all that out. First, I have exposed nerves because I use to brush in an aggressive, I hate you plaque kind of way. That causes resession and if anyone pokes that area my toes will shoot out the front of my shoes. But, I told them in advance and presto. They were great and I didn't have to rip the arms off the chair. The cost is negated. I'm uninsured like a champ but for $99 you get 2 cleaning a year. So ip front cost is taken care off. If you don't want to spend $99 for two cleaning then I say sometime down the line it might get painful in your life. So, pain and cost are taken care of. Now in the instance they do find something wrong, being in their personal network and paying the $99 year they knock off 30% of most treatments. Thus saving you money in the event something is wrong. So far, everyone has been sweet towards me and I've always been in and out in the time I figured it would take. Unless something extraordinary happens, where they gas me and I wake up with a bloody nose. I'll continue to come here every 6 months. read more

Do yourself a favor, save your time and go somewhere else. First time I went I couldn't find the office at first, later found out it was behind another office that was in front of it. Once I found it I couldn't really even believe it was a dentist , the whole office is practically the size of my living room. I go in for a cleaning, now at this time I have not gone for a cleaning in quite some time , despite the fact that I once had braces (so actually familiar with teeth pain) after the cleaning the doc gave me, I remember noting that A. I have never been in that much pain at the dentist ever before period. B. My gums were in so much pain and my mouth did not even feel that clean , she only took like 10 mins to do the cleaning which is also the fastest cleaning I've ever gotten. I remember telling myself psh never coming back here again. When I went to the office I found out I needed my wisdom teeth removed , so I first attempt to go to another office but due to the fact that their next available date was much farther than preferred, so I decided to try again with strong root in effort to relieve myself of the pain sooner. So my appointment was set for 9:45 am and I was told to come early so I made sure to do self only to find out half hour of sitting at the office that in reality I had 3-4 people ahead of me easily resulting in me having to wait an additional hour , hour and a half , so now despite all this I decide I don't have time to just be burning in the office so I notify the secretary and let her know I was leaving , to only get a call back from her about 5 mins after lecturing me on the importance of being patient and waiting for others to finish their procedure. She continued to lecture telling me on how they cannot speed up anyone else procedure, to accommodate me for and at this point I'm continuously trying to explain to her how I'm not asking to accommodate anything for me. Eventually she happily reminds me how she's is going to send me a $50 bill for canceling. I told her to do whatever she must. Decided to give this place a second chance and regretted and wasted my morning. So many other good dental offices in jersey city. Save yourself the headache. read more
