My daughter have been a patient of dr Pearlman for over 14 years and unfortunately we will not be going to see him. He is like what others said, laid back and good humor. This helps with the kids he interacts with I'm sure. But his staff on the other hand is dry, lacks empathy and was even rude (lady that handles the billing, Tanya is her name). So recently we came in to see dr P for a consult which lasted 10 mins. He offered no help but sent us off with a few recommendations on a sticky note. My insurance got billed $326 for this brief meeting. And my out of pocket is $208. I found out the self paid price is $150 if you don't have insurance. So why is my insurance being billed so much higher? And my out of pocket more than if I didn't have insurance.? Tanya's response to me was, well you don't have to have insurance that is your choice. And refused to charge me the self pay price even though that's exactly what I'm doing self paying. Thank you Tanya. For your lack of empathy and compassion for what regular Americans deal with regarding our healthcare system. I asked to speak to dr P to let him know we will be leaving the practice and I was told I would get a call back. I never heard from anyone. I guess no one cares and we will part ways. read more

I first met Dr. Pearlman at El Camino Hospital (Los Gatos). He did the first couple checkups with my newborn baby when I was in the hospital until I was discharged. Thereafter, I did the next few appointments with Sutter Health because that was my plan when I first chose my pediatrician during my pregnancy. Sutter Health was not a good experience and I nearly gave up breastfeeding because of them. My baby was born in the 91st percentile for weight and every Sutter appointment, they told me I needed to give my son formula so that he can stay in that percentile. Nothing wrong with formula, but Sutter was not helping me figure out how to exclusively breastfeed my baby (which was my goal). I left every appointment upset and anxiety ridden so I decided to see Dr. Pearlman for a second opinion since he was so funny and nice when I was in the hospital. The fourth trimester was a very difficult time for me and I shed many tears about how to feed my baby. Dr. Pearlman's office showed me kindness and supported me all through supplementing with formula, triple feeding, and now exclusively breastfeeding my baby. Dr. Pearlman is GREAT!!! The best thing about the Doc, he lets you make all the decisions. He's super knowledgeable and presents your the pros/cons of treatment. Ultimately, he allows the parents to make the decision they are most comfortable with. Dr. Pearlman should also be a stand-up comedian, cause he's freaking hilarious. He makes office visits very enjoyable. There's entrances for kids who are ill and healthy kids. This gives me a piece of mind, knowing I'm not entering a petri dish of germs. His front desk staff are wonderful and super personable. I had a different doctor when my son was born, but we switched because the front-desk staff were so rude and dismissive. We are so happy we chose him and he has done a great job with my son (15 months old). Pearlman had been my pediatrician for several years, very great sense of humor but lacks empathy and a sense of importance for his patients. When I came in for reoccurring symptoms of severe mono, his initial response was "it could be anything", disregarding the fact that reoccurring mono was very unlikely. Pearlman offered no other possible diagnosis or treatments and instead told me that I should feel better soon. Seems that Pearlman acts more like a clown than a doctor and is just there to provide jokes instead of real professional care. After losing all respect for Dr. Pearlman, I switched physicians and my new doctor very quickly diagnosed me with a tonsil abscess and referred me to an ENT and I was able to get proper care very quickly, something Pearlman never even considered. read more

We love Dr. Pearlman - he has been our pediatrician since 2006. He will take time to really answer your questions and doesn't make you feel as if he just wants to get through the appointment. He is a laid back doctor, so if you prefer the starched white coat feel, then he is not right for you. He shares the practice with 3 other doctors, so there is always someone who works Saturdays, if you need an appointment then. When my kids have been sick, I have always gotten a same day appointment - and usually within the next 3 hours. The offices are much nicer following a renovation in the past year or so. They used to be quite worn. Dr. Pearlman had some expertise in a certain medical area that we need, so I was not as concerned at the outset about "atmosphere", but it is nicer to go there now. The kids love the fish tank, but we can only ever find one fish in there. read more

Practice does not have electronic records. This means: - when your kid is sick they give you a paper handwritten prescription that you bring to the pharmacy and have to wait at least 20 minutes for them to fill. ** after a few rounds of shlepping a sick kid to good ol' LG Walgreens instead of having the prescription sent electronically while I was in transit, this became a deal breaker for me - when you have lab results there is no online portal to check if they're in, you have to call the office and play phone tag with dr for routine results - there's no online portal for questions to dr, nurses or office staff - most times when you call the office you're immediately put on hold for a long duration bc of high call volume due to above I appreciate that they're open on Saturdays and I have liked many of the doctors in the practice but I have two small children and the issues above became a deal breaker. read more

The Good: Short wait times, sanitary office, separate sick/well waiting rooms. Dr. Pearlman is friendly and laid back. He has a dry sense of humor and kids seem comfortable around him. The Bad: The office is old and kind of run down, very few toys for kids, nurses don't really engage the kids, their techniques are somewhat outdated (rectal temperatures instead of forehead or ear; they used vaccination shots that are not consolidated so your baby gets stuck more times, etc). The REALLY Bad: Dr. Pearlman misdiagnosed our 2 month old daughter with craniosynostosis. We were told that she would probably be deformed, have brain damage, and possibly need brain surgery. 6 stress-filled weeks later, a neurosurgeon at Stanford told us our daughter was "absolutely perfect" and sent us home with a clean bill of health. The Full Story - The newborn exam in the office was ok, but not very thorough. I had to point out several things I had noticed, including a quarter-sized strawberry hemangioma on her leg. He said that hemangiomas are so common that "most doctors don't notice them". Really? At her 2 month appointment I asked about a bump on one side of my daughters' head. He said she probably had craniosynostosis (premature fusing of the plates in her head). He explained that the condition can be very deforming and could cause brain damage. When I asked if she would need surgery or what our next steps were, he didn't know. He admitted that he'd never seen a child with this condition before, and suggested that we see a neurosurgeon at Stanford. Based on his description of my daughters' condition, the Stanford RNP suggested a CT scan before we came in. I did a little research and called back to discuss my concerns with Dr. Pearlman (high cost, sedation of our baby, high exposure to radiation and increased cancer risk). He dismissed my concerns, but agreed to ask the Stanford folks if we could postpone the scan until after her consultation. Thankfully, they agreed. Fast forward 6 stressful weeks and we finally get in to see the Stanford people. The RNP walks into the office, asks us why we are there and just shakes her head. "Your daughter does not have craniosynostosis. We can tell the second we walk into a room; it's very obvious. Good call not ordering the CT." The neurosurgeon also examined our daughter and sent her home with a clean bill of health. I appreciate that Dr. Pearlman errored on the side of caution, but we went through a very stressful and unnecessary experience because he misdiagnosed an "obvious" condition. (And had I not done my research, the whole experience could have been far more traumatic for our daughter and much more costly for us.) We have since switched providers and now see Dr. Li at Los Gatos Pediatrics (http://www.lgpediatrics.com/). Their office is clean and the nurse is super friendly to our kids. Dr. Li has been great; her examinations don't make me wonder if she missed something and she seems very knowledgeable. read more

We just moved to the area and picked Dr Bezecny off the insurance list. She was out so we saw Dr Pearlman for my toddler's rash. I liked him personally but there are a few things that sent up flags for me. First, I mentioned that our previous pediatrician had given us a cream for diaper rashes caused by yeast (as opposed to those that were just from the diaper itself) and said that I could tell the difference by how it looked: little red dots meant yeast and needs the prescribed cream; a continuous reddish blotch needs zinc oxide (desitin or other diaper cream). This was news to Dr Pearlman. But I've tested it over the 20 months since getting the prescribed cream and it's absolutely true. Seems like something a pediatrician should know. The other thing that's sending me elsewhere is the nurse I talked to yesterday about my daughter's fever the night before. I've always been told (including by our previous pediatrician's office) that you add a degree to an underarm temperature, and I thought this was standard; the nurse was dismissive of this. She made assumptions and didn't listen when I denied them. I had to ask 3-4 times "at what temperature do I start to panic?" before I got a semi-answer and gave up. read more

My daughter, who is 4, has been seeing Dr. Pearlman since her birth. I am very happy with the kind of care and advice Dr. Pearlman gives. His treatment philosophy is directly aligned with mine. He does not subscribe to unnecessary medication The practice itself is excellent. Once I had an emergency with my daughter at 5 pm (Their last appointment is around 4:30 pm). They kept the practice open just so that they could take a look at her. My daughter has been seen by Dr. Tan and Dr. Bezecny in the absence of Dr. Pearlman and I was very happy with both of them. Everyone at the clinic - from the front desk staff to the nurses are cheerful, polite and responsive. You do get same day appointments if your child is sick....and there is a separate entrance for sick child and well child visits. I would strongly recommend Dr. Pearlman and his team. read more

If you're looking for an outdated professional and office with not so friendly nurses this is your place! My personal experience includes a poor bedside manner, extremely low intervention - to the point of not listening and other doctors recommending opposite treatment plan. I found him and some of his supporting staff unhelpful and unprofessional. I have spoken with at least 6 other moms in his practice or at LG Pediatrics and they try to avoid him, believe he is outdated,does not support breastfeeding, and are just not compatible. I was pretty happy with Dr Pearlman till we changed insurance from a HMO to PPO, and started receiving high bills. My son needed a ear wax removal that was coded as a surgery. I was surprised that this so called " surgery" was not performed by the doctor himself but rather by an assistant? It happened two times. We just did the same ear wax removal with a different office this time. The procedure was performed by our new doctor himself and we had only to pay the copay nothing more, same insurance but different doctor. It is only the way they code. They also charged us for an immunization copay that was not supposed to be and refused to refund us. read more

All three of my boys have seen Dr pearlman since they were born, being that my oldest is now 8 that is quite a history. Dr pearlman is a great Dr, and an amazing person as well. HE is not one of those Dr's that is all about slapping you with a bunch of unnecessary medications or medical bills, he is a dad himself and is great with children, he is personable and easy to talk to. Dr. Pearlman is Great! He has a great demeanor with the kids and communicates well with parents. He is sweet natured and he is laid back. He doesn't just throw medicine at you when it is not needed, yet he doesn't make you feel stupid for bringing your child in either. I started taking my daughter to Dr. Pearlman when she was about 8. We had just moved to the area and I really didn't know enough people to even get a recommendation so it was just luck that it turned out so well. I can not say enough good things about Dr. Pearlman, he listens to her, answers her questions, even jokes around with my daughter - which probably gives him a good guage on health (physically and mentally). When Jennifer has been sick, he has always called a few days later to see how she is doing and when he hasn't been able to cure her, he sends her to someone else that is. You don't always find that type of care when you're in a larger metro area. The office isn't decorated as well as some other doctor offices but that's not really why we come to the doctor. Dr pearlman is a great pediatrician as there is no BS, pretty straightforward, and yes, ultimately, he will let you decide what you think is best for your child. He gives you his knowledge, his opinion and what you should do, but he lets you make the decision. For instance, my son had croup few months ago, even though he is quite old, 9 yr, dr Pearlman explained to me that because it was rather severe, my son should be on steroids for 3 days. I was not crazy about it, because I rather have less meds than more, when you can avoid it. So he told me he will write me the prescription, and let me decide what I wanted to do. Obviously, this was not a life or death decision, otherwise, I am pretty sure, he won't let you be the judge. He also explained to me why and when to take the steroids vs. Not taking them, and what to do if we decided not to. We had croup before as a 3 yr old, so we were familiar with the procedures. I filled the prescription, and we decided to go ahead and give the meds, as my son's cough was pretty bad. But there was no pressure, and I feel like it's more of a 2 way dialogue, for the small stuff of course. When my daughter was under 4 weeks, she got a real bad cold, and he sent us straight to the hospital to have her blood drawn and have few tests done, to see if she needed to be hospitalized or not. She was my second child, and I was not really worried, as one can be with first child and small sniffles. ..but there was "no I leave it up to you the parent" on this one. Point being, when he knows he needs to put his foot down and be the decision maker because this case needs it, he does! And this is what I like about him, he gives you the knowledge, his opinion, recommendations, and let you be the judge when there is room for it. If no room, for your own judgment, then he will let you know! I also like the front desk very much, very very warm receptionist, and nurses. I like that there is a sick kids entrance, and that it is open on Saturday morning! Yes it fid look a bit outdated few years back, but it has been remodeled, as far as lack of toys, I don't care cuz I don't want my kids playing/sucking on germs filled stuff anyway, lol! read more

This is honestly way overdue! Seeing that my daughter will be 16 this coming March and Dr. Pearlman has been her Dr. since birth. As he was the visiting dr. In the hospital and has alway handled her care amazingly well! So much so I moved my other children under his care. Dr. Pearlman always listens and has always been good about returning phone calls as well. He's not always quick to prescribe unnecessary antibiotics but has definitely prescribed at the times when my kids have absolutely needed them. I can say beyond a shadow of a doubt Dr. Pearlman truly cares about each of his patients well being and has provided nothing but the best care for my children. There is also an entry for children who are being seen for their well check up & an entry for those that are sick which I think is genius! And the office is animal themed & on one side it has a beautiful aquatic theme, and each room is themed with a different animal! Overall I've had 16 great years with having Dr. Pearlman has my children's Dr, the office is nice, the nursing staff is very kind & patient with the kids, never had any billing issues, even when I overlooked a couple of insurance slip-ups they have always been patient & friendly! read more

We really love this office for many reasons! One, the office staff seems very organized and we rarely have to wait. Two, Nurse Kimmie is the BEST, she is so warm, friendly and knowledgable. Last, Dr. Pearlman has eased so many first time parent concerns. I am now on baby number 2 (my eldest is 4) and we have been with him from the beginning with both kids. I appreciate how he informs you to make the best decision for your child, without judgement. He doesn't push unnecessary medicines or opinions. He has a great sense of humor, though not everyone can appreciate this, but he has never steered us wrong. I read reviews that he does not support breastfeeding, and I have NEVER experienced this. He is one of the most supportive, laid back, non-intrusive about your method of parenting. I breastfed one child until 20 months and continue with the other one (now 14 months). He doesn't believe in crying it out until the baby is physically capable of self-soothing and even then doesn't push it. read more

We love Dr Pearlman, not because he's funny or a nice guy although he is those things. We love him because he's a good doctor. I like that he discusses my options and doesn't force one over another. He gives his opinions and usually is more anti-medication and his approach is conservative. He has young kids of his own so it's good to get his feedback as another parent.
