Gas very high and store is dirty, bathrooms are a horror show. Made a note to never stop on that exit again.

Parking is a little tricky, but definitely doable. There's quite a bit of metered parking, and we were able to find a free meter on a Saturday by parking on a nearby side street. The moment we walked in, we were amazed, and clearly hungry, because everything looked so delicious! My daughter made a beeline straight for the $5 candy buffet, which she absolutely loved. It's such a fun and unique option for kids. The vintage bottle drink freezer was another highlight, so colorful and stocked with all kinds of interesting and nostalgic flavors. They also had some funny gag gifts and a great selection of bulk candy at reasonable prices. One of our favorite touches was the little train running around the ceiling, it's such a cute detail that really adds to the experience. They even have a penny press, so be sure to bring two quarters and a shiny penny! We will definitely be back and highly recommend this spot if you're looking for fun gifts or a sweet treat, especially for kids.

The worker allows you to try them to find your favorite. I got 2 scoops of the banana pudding. Oh. My. God. It is to die for. It had a great balance of banana and nilla water flavors. My mom also had 2 scoops. I thought the prices were very reasonable and made for an inexpensive dessert. I highly recommend. The candy store is awesome. There is so much to look at. There was lots of candies that I haven't seen in along time. This shop has one of the longest fresh chocolate cases I've seen. There was so much fudge options and other goodies. We got several chocolates to enjoy later in our hotel. They were delicious. The staff here is the sweetest. We felt so welcomed and were greeted right away when we entered. They were patient while we decided on the flavors of chocolates we wanted. I really enjoyed my time here.

They have so many options to choose from, there's something for everyone. We wanted a few pieces of chocolate so we went to the counter and were greeted by the worker. We made our selections and paid. Then we went to the ice cream side and ordered a milk shake as well as an expresso with ice cream. All the chocolates were fresh and delicious. The milk shake had just the right amount of sweetness and thickness consistency. The shot of expresso mixed with ice cream was the perfect mix, and a great afternoon pick me up. Whenever in DeLand this will always be a stop for me.

As soon as you walk in to the store you are transported to a magical land of candy. You can find one of a kind sweets and candy you haven't seen since your childhood. Aunt Laurie's carries a wide variety of confections including house made chocolates, nostalgic favorites like moon pies, pop rocks and wax bottles, novelty candy like gummy Lunchables, candied nuts, taffy, fudge, truffles, rock candy, chocolate roses, caramels, popcorn, and children's toys and beanies. The candy may be filled with sugar but nothing is sweeter than Aunt Laurie who wants to be everyone's favorite Aunt. She greets you with a silver tray of candy because you are family and no one can walk around her store without eating candy. I wanted to purchase a chocolate dipped pretzel covered in Rolos and she insisted on gifting it to me along with a freshly dipped chocolate covered Oreo. I had to insist on buying something so I purchased a chocolate dipped pretzel covered in Snow Caps. The chocolate dipped treats were amazing. I wish I had gotten more but I had a long day ahead of me in a hot car. Next time I visit I will be sure to bring a cooler. Auntie Laurie also does gift baskets and party favors. If your child is celebrating a birthday be sure to bring them in to visit Aunt Laurie for her special love and attention. It is actually located in the same store as Pepper Palace so we killed two birds with one stone. I read previous reviews and everyone had great contributions so that sold me. I am not sure how crazy popular St. Augustine has become in the past year or two for families but it seems like families took a really long wrong turn away from Disney and headed here. Anyway, this place is really small. I mean like maybe can fit 10 people maximum at a time. I expected unusual finds of candy and I did find some unique candy for sure! I really did not have anything specific I was looking for but was willing to spend money if I found something. Unfortunately, there were too many kids standing around like zombies and it made it really difficult to browse and shop. I was feeling too crowded so I made my way towards Pepper Palace. I intend to come back but only when there are not so many people. The selection was good but I think there could be more unique finds and a little more variety. They had bulk options, but not many. There was of course plenty of packaged candy that many of us are familiar with. There was also slushees, smoothies, and drinks behind the counter. Next time I really want to look at that.
