Then I had to come back two days later because I noticed my highlights were not close to my scalp. It looked like I had regrowth already. It was almost an inch in some places. I went back to get it fixed and it was extremely awkward. She barely said a word to me and I left with still regrowth. When I pulls hair up you can see almost an inch of regrowth still! I had been looking for a salon to do my hair and 4 bridesmaids, my moms and the flower girls hair for my upcoming wedding. She had known this before she ever highlighted my hair. I would have thought she would make sure my hair was correctly done. Overall I'm pretty disappointed. It could have been an opportunity to win new over new clients but instead i left with a bad taste in my mouth. I hope they read the reviews and take something away from it. From the moment I walked in, the stylist was not very friendly or welcoming. There was very little conversation, and I didn't feel like there was much effort to understand what I wanted. I brought in a photo for reference and explained that I was looking for more shape and a few additional layers. I was not planning to take much length off at all. The entire haircut took less than 10 minutes, which immediately felt strange to me. As she was cutting, it felt like she was just chopping into my hair as fast as possible. I was shocked by how quickly it was over. My hair was thinned out way more than I wanted, and now that I've had a chance to really look at it, there are uneven pieces throughout. The worst part is that there is a large section on the side of my head that is about 1.5 inches shorter than the rest of my hair. It's very noticeable and looks like a chunk was taken out for no reason. When I got out of the chair, I was honestly in shock. I've never had someone cut my hair so quickly or so aggressively. I mentioned that it felt like I had lost a lot of hair, but at that point I hadn't really processed what had happened. Once I got home and looked at it more closely, I realized just how bad it was. For probably 15 years, Tammy Messina has cut my hair, and my brother's too, although not all at its present location. Salon Messina, run by Tammy and her sister, Rina, has moved around a bit over the years, but for the past four or five years they have been located off W Us Highway 22 (extension of Montgomery Road), just past the Landen Shopping Center. The current location, set on a large pond in Maineville, is definitely its best location, as it is really homey, cozy, and comfortable on the inside. Throw in the in the kindness, friendliness, and warmth provided Tammy, Rina, and the other hairstylist, Kathy, and you end up with a great experience at Salon Messina. The salon is located in an old house across from the Landen-Deerfield Park, and while most of their business is hair, they are set up to do offer other services such as nails. It doesn't matter who is cutting your hair or greeting you at the reception desk because everyone that works at Salon Messina knows who you are and treats you like a friend (not a client). They always offer a complimentary Coke product or cup of coffee when you walk in the door too. I will say that they aren't always running on time (yet neither am I with Montgomery Road traffic), but that's because they spend ample time working on your hair and making sure you are satisfied with the end product. It isn't glitzy or anything, but if you want a comfortable atmosphere and a friendly, reliable, and experienced person working on your hair instead, Salon Messina can and will offer you all of that at affordable prices.
