We first met the owner, Keith, at the Field Arts and Events Hall Wedding Expo. He was personable, helpful, and very accommodating. He had several suggestions--while open to all of our ideas--for where we could hold the ceremony and how we could arrange seating. He was also open to us returning in the evening so we could have amazing photos taken during the "golden hour" lighting. And to top it off, he even supplied the lavender for our wedding reception centerpieces! And as a side note, there was ample parking for our 100 guests. In the end, we can't imagine how our wedding could have turned out any better! If you're getting married on the Olympic Peninsula, you should definitely take a good look at Flatiron Fields. The staff is friendly, helpful, and people oriented. There's plenty near by to do including brunch spots and exploring the national park. Morris Theater is also a flexible conference and events space with a lounge and coffee bar with sweeping views of the Strait of Juan de Fuca. Check their calendar for a variety of live music, comedy, visual arts, film screenings and speakers, as well as they can host a gorgeous wedding or gala rental with in house catering. The main level is also home to an art gallery and coffee shop which are open daily to enjoy a beverage with a view. Each family prepares a meal and we just have a good time. The Jenne Farm is a fantastic spot to let the woes of city life disappear while you sit on the porch of the 100 year old farm house. Take walks through the farm land and forests visit the beach nearby and mainly just relax. Chat with the farmers who stop buy nearly daily to tend to things they will give you farm fresh eggs even take you on a hay ride. I got to drive the tractor...felt like a kid again! You had to look up and down every few steps to not miss something. I found it cool that they also had inspirational signs as well as ones asking questions, inviting guests to think about deeper things. Some items apparently are designed to decay with the forest. Not all items had signs to describe the art or even give it a title. You just had to roll with it.

I was reading my Frommer's guidebook to look for things to do around Port Angeles and it mentioned this place. I'm not the biggest fan of contemporary art, but this was amazing and FREE! We only spent a couple of minutes inside the fine arts center, because the outdoor sculpture garden was out of this world. Nestled under a canopy of trees were all sorts of modern sculpture, a lot of it whimsical, hanging from the trees, suspended in the air, and blending into the environment. It was everywhere and you almost felt like you were on a scavenger hunt. What a fantastic way to introduce my kids to art. We all had a blast wandering around the woods looking for the next discovery. My favorite sculpture was the collection of sweaters on a hillside (see photo).
