My nails look great, but they cut me with the file multiple times until I was bleeding, as well as burning me with the electric file. I have been going here to get my nails done now for several months. The last place I went in The Dalles was not giving me good service (The nail technician was watching something on her phone each time I got my nails done and not paying attention to her work) I go every 2 to 03 weeks to Studio Hair, Nails & Tan and I get the best service and my nails are fantastic. It's pretty rare that I make a bad review - but our experience here was a little concerning. We were a walk in about six weeks ago, the gel polish fell of fast which was disappointing, and it didn't seem like it was done in the right order, but whatever - I didn't think to make a review until I looked at my friends nails who were pretty cut up especially considering they've had six weeks to heal. My nails also have divets in them that haven't gone away, but not as bad as hers. I believe it was the owner who did mine and his son who did hers. Her cuticles also got pretty cut up initially and were bleeding a bit. I don't know.. I just think the owner and staff need a bit more training. read more

Terrible....had the worst pedicure in my life! They use poor quality products, and said thats all they have when I questioned the the dry pasty base coat on my toe nails. When you ask for a menu, they don't know what your talking about. Ask for price they have different prices for the same service you get. I wouldn't blame the employee for the bad service, although they were inexperienced. I blame the owner/management. I will never come here again, or recommend this place. Im 65 years old. Horrible pedicures. Took my daughter in for a pedi and cost me 67.00 for her and me and although my guy was very nice I felt like he had never done one before. He just followed the steps of the other guy that was doing my daughters. My paint job was terrible and definitely will never go back. Big waste of my hard earned money. read more

Such a beautiful spring day that I threw a dress on and headed to town. I realized my legs were in need of a wax. I took my chances and tried this place. MISTAKE! All employees were busy so when I was told - sit down few minutes, I asked if I should come back. Nope we are ready for you- sit down. It did only take a few minutes and I was escorted back to the filthiest room I had ever seen. I laid on a table and she was ready to wax my eyebrows- after getting that all straightened out she had me turn around on the table to wax my lower legs. Instead of using a wide tongue depressor to smear warm wax on my legs, it felt like she used a toothpick to apply wax that crumbled. After a couple strokes on each leg she was finished. I asked her if she wanted me to turn over so that she could do the back. Nope- she was done! Worst $30 I spent. I will not be returning! read more

One of the worst haircuts the guy there does not know how to cut hair just horrible I'm not going back

In the past I have gone here for a mani pedi and they did my nails (left and right hand) all on the tiny little table on the left side of the massage chair. An older woman did the polish (they were super busy and I think I got someone who wasn't Licensed because I was a walk in.) and it took 30 strokes per finger for her to cover my nail. (When you go to beauty school you can't pass the nail test unless you can do a nail in 2 strokes of polish...) so my nails looked terrible. Also when I left there was still scrub on my calf inside my pant leg... Whatever. I wasn't going anywhere that day. I just decided not to do nails there again. Now let's move on to the emotional nightmare that is hair. A blowout is when your hair is washed and blow dried to be straight but natural looking. Not stick straight but like shampoo commercial straight. Every hairstylist knows this. Except Henry. I went for a blow out two hours before I needed to leave for a wedding. My date was in the wedding party and we were going early. I could get dressed and do makeup when we got there. I wanted stress free hair. I asked if they had time to do a blowout. He said "a what?" I said "a blowout" he said again "a what?" I then said "a wash and style" he said "ok let me call another stylist." I said "I need to leave in two hours, should I wait or is there not enough time?" To which the woman in his chair (who he was doing a root touch up on) glared at me. I guess it was my fault they don't staff someone to process customers at the front desk. Anyway an hour goes by, no additional staff arrive and I'm thinking there's no way this is going to work. He gets me in his chair and combs my dry hair... Ouch I say. He laughs and apologizes but continues to pull hair out of my now tender scalp with his comb. Then comes the hot iron. He runs large chunks of my frizzy hair through the iron. Gets nowhere near my wavy roots and after 15 minutes (maybe less) says he's done I look in the mirror and stifle a hurt look and swallow the lump in my throat. My hair is poofy with tons of fly always and looks dull from the aerosol product he sprayed in my hair. I pray it's not hairspray, because at this point I know I have to do my own hair and I have a ton of it, it will take me realistically an hour or longer to wash it and style it myself now. Time I don't have because he said it would be done by now, and I waited. I trusted. Now when I walked in it said on the door, hair started at $25 for women. So I'm thinking I'm not tipping for someone to lie about staffing, pull my hair out and destroy the chance of me starting with workable hair since I now have to do it myself. We get to the cash register and he sheepishly announces the total as $15. That's when I knew that EVEN HE knew he'd messed up. I got home and cried. When you go to a salon you pay to have someone help you feel fabulous. I felt screwed and cheated and betrayed. I will NEVER go back. Ever. And you would be wise to avoid such a debacle as well. read more

Our riverboat stopped here for the day & I was desperate for a mani/pedi. As soon as a Vietnamese voice answered the phone I felt at home. Comfy massage chairs to relax in while my feet were pampered, then a perfect manicure. Not too crowded, but I was there on Thursday at 2 pm. What a deal for $40 for both. read more

I have never had a more comfortable and relaxed mani/pedi anywhere else. And what's better is the owner that cuts hair is extremely good at his job. There's rarely a wait and when there is it's short because everyone on the staff is efficient, talented and quick. I also have my kids get their hair done here. I never tell the stylist what to do; I just let him go at it and the haircuts are always perfect. And my boys like longer cuts that are styled, not buzzes. read more

I wish I could give less than one star. I would much rather be able to give my business to a local business in town, but I won't continue to give this place my business. I've given this places two chances, the first for a pedicure, the second for a gel manicure. I received the worst pedicure and manicure in my life from this business. It appears to me that they don't sanitize their tools. They used the tools on me and put them back in the drawer. Files and buffers were obviously used previously as well. The quality of the polish was horrible, lumpy and uneven. When removing the previous gel polish on my nails, they ground it off instead of removing with acetone, taking most of my nail along with it. While I was getting my manicure, I watched multiple people come in for hair cuts. They were quick and the hair cuts looked decent, but the whole lack of sanitation thing stood out to me. Brushes, combs and scissors were being reused between customers without being sanitized. Ick. read more

So I've done my nail and got pedicure done they do good but hair is another thing. My daughter was going to prom and she wanted a up do she took them the hair extensions and a picture so they would have an idea. She did not now how to put on extensions so my daughter showed her and when they where done my daughter looked at her self and almost cried. Her being the calm shy type left and went to cry at home then I come in and look at her and said what happen literally it looked like she had just woke up put it in a bun and put a bottle of hair spray hair everywhere. So WE go back and I tell them this is not right it doesn't even look professional so we tell her to do it again if she can't to refund us the money she said I can do it I make sure because we have other thing to do she's like no I can do it ok so I leave come back in 40 minutes and she's on her 3 try she could not do it so she tried a different look a lot easier and still couldn't so I ask for a refund Henry comes over and said we can't we already put 2 hour of work on her. My response was look at her hair would you send your daughter to prom like that because I won't so he goes back to the cash register and said her is your money. I now not everyone can do certain hair styles but be honest and say you now what I don't think I can do that I would understand. Plus make it look decent not just put it in a bun and spray it with hair spray. Try your best my opinion. At the end she did her hair down with a half ponytail and a nice fancy hairpiece we had she looked beautiful and she felt good after that ordeal. read more

I used to go to Studio Hair Nails & Tan because the service was very good and the staff was one of the most talented in town, but recently I went in for a simple trim and I was treated like an animal. It seems you have to be a very pretentious and fashion oriented person, or want a massive makeover to get a decent haircut. Also, plan on buying some serious hair products in order to get any respect here. I went in asking to have dead ends removed, and all he did was take a comb and cut my hair wherever it knotted. Now my hair is a choppy, uneven mess. He took less than 5 minutes and tried his hardest to sell me anything he possibly could to make me worth his time. I understand having a business to keep running, but that was just rude. I'm afraid I won't be going here anymore, and I know, to them, its a big "whoop-di-doo", because I'm not a high maintenance, "mani-pedi every week" customer who has a lot of money to blow on pretentious crap, but I hope this will make them think about the way they treat people. I know I'm not the only one who has had this experience with them. I used to sing their praises until I walked in with a messy head and very little in my wallet hoping to look decent for Thanksgiving day. read more
