Mine wasn't chatty with me but I kind of was glad because it meant she was focusing on not jacking up my head. Don't walk in here expecting Jean Madeline Aveda Institute (I've now been to both cosmetology schools for haircuts and they are not even the same beast) but do expect to walk in and get quick, cheap service.

Just like the last cosmetology school I went to, make sure you have at least an hour to get a hair cut and dry- there will be NO rushing here since all major cuts and decisions need to be cleared with the trainers. This place is a little rough around the edges (cheap decor, a little gossipy...) but the cut and assistance of the master stylist was good. And again, $6 haircut and blow dry? Can't beat it with a stick. My hairdresser student Vanessa took her time, talked to me about what I was trying to do in the future with my hair and was chatty- but not overly so. The only thing that's a little bizarre to watch is that the students not working on human clients are busy completing scenarios on their dummy heads at their stations. Imagine a room full of 15 hair stylists all working on mannequin heads...and you're the only human. Kinda strange. But- it's a beauty school, that's what they're supposed to be doing- hair! Most important thing to know about the place- they ONLY take cash. After labor and deliver (I'm 37 weeks pregger with #Dos) perhaps I'll go back for another cut and color.

They all have to learn how to do nails but the nail techs in training focus on nails whereas I had a hair stylist who was forced to do it. I have no problem with my girl and don't fault her. She was very friendly and did her best, but she's not training to be a nail tech and the result shows it. They don't cut cuticles. The nail shaping was a struggle and not done right. Nails are all uneven, not well trimmed, and are sharp on the edges. The paint is all over cuticles and bubbles throughout.
