Nico at SML has now given me the two best cuts I've ever gotten, and I don't have the easiest hair to work with.

I had a great Drybar experience here. I had some trouble booking online, but was able to easily…read morebook through text. I was taken care of immediately and my appointment was way faster than I expected it to be. I absolutely love how my hair came out. I asked for the Straight Up for a wedding because it was a really windy day and my hair doesn't hold curls well on a normal day, so I thought trying anything else would be pointless. My stylist did more of a Mai Tai instead which I was a little worried about but it came out amazing and I was shocked that it lasted all day long. She did an amazing job and I will definitely come back for any weddings/special events.

Absolutely terrible experience from start to finish. The…read morefirst red flag was the communication. This location rarely answers the phone and instead asks customers to text. Even then, responses often took a long time. I booked my appointment a month in advance for my courthouse wedding. I initially scheduled a blowout but later changed it to an updo ("Uptini") and made it clear this was for my wedding. I also asked whether I should wash my hair beforehand or if they would do it during my appointment. I was instructed to arrive with second-day hair, so I followed those directions. The morning of my wedding, my appointment was at 8:00 a.m. I arrived a few minutes early and walked into an empty salon. I waited several minutes before anyone acknowledged me. Around the same time, I received a text saying my stylist was running late because of traffic. Life happens, so I wasn't upset about that. When my stylist arrived, there was no greeting or introduction. She simply said, "Follow me." At the shampoo area, I explained I was there for an updo and had been instructed to come with second-day hair. She quietly replied, "I wish they had told me that." So we headed back out without a wash. She then asked to see my inspiration photo and immediately turned to another stylist asking, "How would you do this?" That was the moment I lost confidence. After booking a month in advance for my wedding, I couldn't understand why I had been assigned someone who either didn't have the experience in updoes or had not been familiar with the service. It became obvious the stylist didn't know what she was doing. Throughout the appointment, she barely spoke to me. I never even learned her name because she never introduced herself. Once the other stylist finished with her client, she stepped in to try and help. She was warm, congratulated me on my wedding, and genuinely tried to guide the appointment. When I finally saw the back of my hair, I was devastated. It looked nothing like the inspiration photo that had been sitting in front of my stylist the entire appointment. The style was flat, lacked texture and volume at the crown, and looked like little more than curled hair pinned into a ponytail. Very little product appeared to be used, and there was no way to achieve the airy, textured look I had requested without starting over. The second stylist did her best to improve it, but there was only so much she could do. Eventually, I accepted that it wasn't going to become the hairstyle I had envisioned. I paid, left, and tried not to let it ruin my wedding day. I've been to several Drybar locations in California and understand they are independently owned franchises, but I still expect the professionalism and quality associated with the Drybar brand. Unfortunately, this location fell far short of those expectations. Paying $109 for this updo was incredibly disappointing. I still left a tip, but not because I was satisfied with the service. I tipped because the second stylist took time out of her schedule to genuinely try to salvage a situation she didn't create, and I appreciated her effort. By that point, I also didn't have the energy to keep discussing what was clearly wrong with my hair--I simply wanted to leave. The final result looked nothing like what I requested, and I honestly believe I could have achieved a better outcome myself. On such an important day, that was heartbreaking. If you're looking for an updo, I would strongly recommend choosing a salon that specializes in formal hairstyling. Based on my experience, I would not trust this location with an updo, especially for a wedding or other special occasion. I've included photos so others can judge the results for themselves. The last photo is the inspiration picture that sat on the table throughout the appointment.

I don't want my hair to be over-styled. As a professional woman who travels quite a bit, I wanted an easy, healthy-looking style with a little volume to give this 50-year old face a little lift. I need to be able to sleep on a 12 hour flight, get up, brush my hair in an airplane bathroom and keep moving straight into a meeting. So many prior salon experiences left me with flat, overly-straight hair with no movement. I found this spot online and the reviews were good, so I booked an appt. My girlfriends all thought I was insane for trying any hair salon working dozens of personal recommendations. The booking process was simple and I quickly received a text confirmation of my appointment and a reminder. I loved that. I'm busy and a bit scattered - I NEED reminders. This was perfect. I arrived, was warmly greeted and was given a quick customer information sheet to complete - along with a price list (thank you!). I was then taken by Brittany to her chair to discuss my hair, my desires and my expectations. Brittany demonstrated professionalism while also being friendly and easy to connect with. My hair was shampooed by Kenneth, who gave me the best temple massage. I had to fight to keep from falling asleep in the shampoo chair. Good conversation. Ultra relaxing. Comfortable shampoo chairs and a foot stool so you can prop your feet up. The shampoo room is walled off from the rest of the salon, you're getting a very relaxing experience, but there is a glass door, so you can still see what's going on (unless your eyes are closed, as mine were). Having really listened to my desire to have a little lift and movement to my hair, Brittany had me sit under the cool dryer for just a few mins and then did the blow dry. But unlike other salons, she didn't snatch my hair bone-straight. She left it with some volume - then gave me a flat iron and trim. I was all much quicker than I'd expected and I was left with EXACTLY what I wanted. I was shocked - she "got" me. Had I brought in a magazine photo for a stylist to replicate, it would have been what I walked out with. The salon is comfortable, clean and a no-nonsense place - grown-woman style. They offered me a glass of wine - the music was nice - and the clientele was friendly and relaxed. I didn't wait at all, yet they did have plenty of customers. They kept us all moving. I left the salon and met my girlfriends for dinner. Everyone loved my hair. Definitely going back - have already booked my next appt!

Quality salon in the suburbs of Philly!…read more Came across the salon after an extensive search for a skilled lightening service and reasonable prices! Glad I got my hair done here. It was difficult to get an appointment! I submitted a website forum and called the work phone several times. The best way to contact is via text message to the work phone! Totally understandable that they are busy, but I didn't get a reply for 3 weeks. The salon is decently sized for 2 stylists! Jess is the owner and manager; Abby is her work partner. I had my hair lightened and cut by Abby! She was chill and knew exactly how to blend my existing blonde pieces with babylights. Love a low maintenance look. The toner/gloss that she mixed up counteracted the brassiness well. I have dark, coarse asian hair that I get lightened at the salon. Haircut was decent too. Prices were reasonable for the time, effort and materials! Will go back again. Excited to have found a nice salon in the suburbs.

I am older--almost 80--have artificial knees, and a driveway that can be difficult in good weather; 13" of snow with ice on top made it hard to know if I would be able to get there, even though I really needed a haircut. I've been going to this salon for almost 2 years during which time the owner, Jessica, has never greeted me or even acknowledged my presence; we've never had a conversation and she knows nothing about me, so I was truly baffled by her behavior. After this experience and after reading the reviews on this site, I think this business may cater to--or want to serve-- a much younger crowd and am guessing that's what the owner prefers. EDIT: the reply from the owner is untrue: I don't know who her "Staff" might be other than Abby (who was my stylist)--I have never emailed her and in fact do not know Abby's email address. And my "Disrespect" was limited to my reply "have you looked out the window?" at the accumulating snow when asked about keeping my appointment. Now that I've read them, the reviews support my belief that this salon prefers a young clientele--the words "chill" "vibe" "chic" "adorable" are pretty unmistakable. Please take note: the owner has not disputed my narrative of the facts of what transpired here or my sense that she prefers to serve young clients and is not interested in serving older people like me. Having never before encountered this kind of bias, I failed to recognize it for what it is and that is why I submitted this review.
