So tucked in with its tethered awning, you would never know what waits inside: a pretty, clean, modernized "you can get anything here" salon, from nails to threading to cuts and blowouts. I'll be returning on the incredibly detail oriented, thoughtful work of Lilly's impeccable technique alone (even with my long, very thick and coarse hair) but the atmosphere is, home. It's warm and welcoming in that special way that makes you completely comfortable staying for 30min or hours on end. Zohra makes sure of that with her warm, inclusive conversational style. So, if you're looking for supermodels pushing expensive hair products you haven't got a clue what to do with, and in mirrors and marble, this is not your place. But if you're looking for good, salt of the earth people who can have you feeling and looking gorgeous/handsome inside and out, this is absolutely your place. As a side note, I happen to be part of the LGBTQ+ community, which didn't come up and it shouldn't need to but I felt comfortable from beginning to end. I have done hair for about 8 years in my younger years. I am very understanding and nice to any stylist bc I understand their business. I have very blonde hair and require a touch up and toner easy peasy. Cadie I was super nice to new client treates me like a non factor. She can't be bothered. She died my roots orange and the rest blue. I saw it she saw it asking if we could fix it up. little. SHE WAS bothered. if I ever did such a thing I am going to fix or do whatever the client needs. She has been doing hair for 7 years and i have never saw someone do hair that long and sit around all day comfortably and a bitch if she fucks up. shes a beautiful girl but lazy makes excuses and has an attitide problem.. i was soo nice at the horrific color she had the balls. to charge me full price walking out like that. The owner fixed it but go to a stylist that gives a fuck.. i was the nicest person ever WHO received orange roots and blue ends asking for blonde .. I would of stuck with her and have her try something else was BEYOND nice and she treated me like annoying trash. I dont write bad reviews but i cant believe the way acted after i was so understanding. She literally doesn't care a about building a book or doing things right. I went into Elegance last week to get my hair cut and colored and my eyebrows waxed. After a few hours, I was shocked to see how well they were able to turn my faded mixed of purple and blue into a beautiful rose gold. When my roots didn't want to take originally, they were able to mix and apply the perfect color to balance out and tie together the whole look. They also took Covid precautions seriously and I never felt nervous about being there in that regard. As a side note, as a trans woman I get nerves about going to new salons because of how I might be viewed. But I've come to Elegance for years and they have always been one of the most welcoming hair salons, let alone businesses in general. Highly recommend !! read more

I have been coming here for several years and am never disappointed. Zohra always colors and styles my hair. Today I went to lighten the highlights. Tila shampooed and helped Zohra blow dry. I had thought I would get it much lighter, but I love the way it looks. Zohra explained that going as light as I wanted this time would damage my hair, that we should do it in stages. I appreciate that she always considers the health of my hair. After I left, I shopped at a local store where everyone knows me and the employees were telling me how beautiful my hair looked! I'm a teacher in the area and I was recommend to Elegance by a friend. Well, I have found my new salon. Zohra is absolutely wonderful! Something weird was going on with my hair after I went to a random stylist that I didn't know and my hair wasn't laying right, especially when it was in a ponytail. Zohra noticed the problem even before I said anything and fixed it within seconds. Now my hair lays perfectly when it's both down and in a ponytail. She's very sweet and easy to talk to. I haven't gone to her for coloring yet, but if I do, I'll post an update. I hear great things about her coloring skills though. Plus, I think her prices are more than reasonable. I just recently moved into the area and I desperately needed to get my hair done. So, where does one turn too when you need a genuine review? That's right, Yelp! After I read all the reviews on here and did my research (I am a hair fanatic! I would not let anyone touch my hair without looking up reviews of the salon!), I decided that this was the salon of choice! I called that day to make an appointment (I thought I would have to wait a week!) but to my surprise I was told to come in that afternoon. [I went in for a cut and color] When I walked in I was greeted by the owner Zohra who was extremely cheerful and called me by name. Zohra then asked me what I was looking for, (I have short-medium hair length, just above the shoulders. I wanted to get rid of my dead ends, get rid of the post traumatic dye job and shape up the mop that was atop of my head) I genuinely felt like she listened to what I wanted and then asked me to take my hair down to see what she was working with. She examined me as if I was a model; the pros and the cons of my hair. Zohra even gave me a discount because of the length of my hair!!! After I told her what color I was looking for (something to match my natural hair color) she gave a very professional consultation as to what she was going to do for me that day. I felt like she was so professional that I let her pick out the color for my hair without looking at swatches. After my cut, color and blow dry was done, I was AMAZED at how my hair looked. Ladies, I mean, AMAZED. I felt like a supermodel. Even other customers were amazed at how my hair came out. I will definitely come here again. Lilly does such a wonderful job with the treatment, the results are absolutely amazing! Zora is an incredible hair stylist. I started going to her a couple of months ago when I needed a bang cut. She is an absolute professional and knows exactly how to cut/style bangs to look GREAT. I received so many compliments. I am so happy that I went to her. Zora is now the only stylist I will ever go to. Before I started going to Zora, I had a horrendous hair cut from my previous salon (I won't say names). I was in tears and called Zora who fit me in immediately. She was able to fix my hair and now it's super cute and stylish. She knows exactly what she is doing and how to cut hair in a way that will compliment your face. Not only is she an incredibly talented hair stylist, but she will listen to what you want. However, I would trust her to cut my hair in any way because she is that good! After looking at the reviews on YELP, I decided to give Elegance a try. I should have looked closer at the dates. Easy enough to book an appointment, through even after spelling my common name to the lady, it was still wrong on the books. Granted this is a petty complaint, but it added to my aggravation. Once I arrived, I saw a sign saying that tips weren't able to be put on credit cards. Again, pretty petty, but since I had walked to the appointment I had to walk to a ATM to withdraw cash, thus also adding to my agitation. The lady did offer to let me come back with the tip another day, but I don't like to leave people hanging like that. Lily was nice, but I felt that she didn't have a lot of experience. The head lady gave me to her, because she just had her nails done. Yeah. The consultation was one of the worst I'd ever had. She asked if I had a picture. I guess this is common for some people, but as an adult going to a professional salon, I expect a professional to advise me. If I want the number 4, I'll go to a chain place. I advised that I didn't mind it shorter but not too short, and to have all the dead ends off. No real follow up questions from Lily. To make a long story short (too late), she didn't listen to my needs, nor advise or consult with anyone about the cut. I was clearly pissed off and cut all the extras short, even refusing hair spray. After working in customer service for over 14 years, I have a huge tolerance and empathy for others in the business, but not if you are clueless. Now need to find another place to fix the cut. read more

Stephanie did a fantastic job cutting and styling my hair! I had avoided the small salons along Darby Road for the first year and a half I lived here, thinking it was surely better to drive to Bryn Mawr. (You know, because it's Bryn Mawr - wow, better!) Still, after one last so-so cut and poor highlighting job at said Bryn Mawr salon, I decided to break with my prejudices and trust Yelp. I'm glad I did, as I haven't been this happy with a cut in years. I'm even happy with the job she did styling my hair. My husband turned me onto this place, he's been coming here for years. Lily has always done a great job with his hair and beard. About six weeks before our wedding, I went with my him and saw a cut Stephanie had done- and on the spot made an appointment with her for a cut and color two weeks before the wedding. Stephanie is friendly and great for conversation, and I really enjoyed my appointment. I have never had a cut I've loved more, and the color was gorgeous. On the day of my wedding, my mother told me that while when I first got the cut she thought it was too short, but now that it had grown for two weeks it was perfect. She added that Stephanie "obviously knew what she was doing". I will never again have my hair done anywhere else! The salon is lovely and not stuffy at all, and everyone who works there is so friendly and fun to talk to. You know it's good when your husband enjoys his time at the salon as much as you do.
