Charisma has the sweetest spirit, she listens to what you want, is extremely knowledgeable about hair, and I can't say enough about how fair the pricing is. You will be hard-pressed to get a sew-in for under $350 in the DC area, but you can tell Happy Tresses is mindful of the working woman's price-point and standard of quality. I should also add Charisma did the best cornrows I've EVER had in record time. My sew-in laid so flat, the style still looks brand new 5 weeks later--I honestly don't want to take it out, but I digress. I haven't tried the bundles yet (because I already had hair before I made the appointment), but the Brazilian Island Wave and Indian Steamed Curl are right up my alley and next on my list. She also makes some gorgeous/stylish wigs and I think I'm going to have to break down and buy one. Waldorf is a bit of a hike for many, but it has been absolutely worth it. When the stylist finally began, her attitude and overall demeanor were noticeably negative, which made the experience uncomfortable. Additionally, the stylist started blow-drying my hair without applying a heat protectant. I had to request that it be used, which should be standard practice. Clients should not have to ask for basic hair care measures. I also found the pricing to be excessive for the level of service provided. Certain treatments, such as deep conditioning, are not included in some services and come at an additional cost. During my appointment, the stylist was whispering and gossiping with another stylist, which felt unprofessional. Overall, the salon appears to charge for many add-ons while not delivering a level of service that justifies the cost. Due to the poor customer service and lack of value, I would not recommend this salon.

I have no need to spend my money at places where I am not treated fairly or where I am perceived as a "person to watch". Overall, I think that they did a pretty good job on the actual painting of my nails. As in, the paint with even without bubbles, etc. That said, The gel on my toes did not last. And two nails in my fill/full set. (Had them since March with no issues) started to lift at the base of the nail. This happened within a week and a half. My big toe polish chipped in about four days. This was before any type of yoga, working out, anything. I also have become very accustomed to the woman who typically does my pedicure is being very thorough with removing ingrown, excess skin, calluses, etc. I definitely found myself wanting more from the callous removal. However, when I most appreciated was the fact that I picked a color that didn't end up looking good on the nail, and my nail tech convinced me to get something better. I'm glad she did because I was super on the fence about it. Also, it's worth noting that this place was absolutely packed on Friday afternoon.
