You won't have the exact same plan as the person in the next room, but it means you're growing the way you should in order to succeed. After I was "done" with voice lessons (when I left for college), I took piano lessons. They also offer guitar, small group ensembles and recitals! I've worked with many staff members when I needed to switch my day/time and they are all incredible people. Jodi is very specific when hiring and won't settle for someone who isn't the right fit for the students. I would say voice lessons worked well for me. I sang at Carnegie Hall in 2018. Just like her teaching style. Annalisa has infinite patience with my 40 yr old fingers and my random writer's brain and my math geek's brain. (whichever one shows up.) In all seriousness, Annalisa has helped me discover that all those people in my past who said: "You can't play music, maybe it would be better if you just mouthed the words... and so forth" WRONG! I can play the piano. I do have a sensibility about rhythm. And I can read music. We have a good mixture of theory and practice and she is experienced enough and has enough music that she can supplement my lesson book, providing me with just the right challenge and just the right practice. Tuition is right on par with other teachers in the area and given the level of experience and the depth of Annalisa's knowledge it is more than reasonable. Parking is a breeze and the studio is a few blocks south of Morse in Clintonville.

As much as I love dressing up, driving downtown, and being in the beautiful theater, it was almost just as great being able to watch the performance at anytime (within a couple of weeks) according to my schedule, kick back in my jammies, and open a cold one. I hope they continue to offer both in person performances as well as virtual ones. I've only ever been to two performances by ProMusica, the other featuring Rachmaninoff, and I love how they talk about the pieces, discuss the composers' lives, and talk about their organization as a whole. It's quite an educational and different experience from the classic orchestral performance. Can't wait to see more from this talented group, whether it's from home on my couch or in person in the future. Additionally, I'm impressed by their ingenuity and willingness to continue going despite the pandemic stopping many other forms of entertainment. I really admire that resiliency!

I watched WinterFEST: Vadim & Friends - Feb 26 - Mar 11 program and I am very happy with the quality and performance of its talented musicians. It brought a sense of nostalgia hearing musicians perform in harmony, in cohesive joy of performing music with others. Doesn't make sense? It is difficult to explain unless you experience it as a musician. Experiencing this joy is like a rare moment that is loved by many, marriage, birth, graduation etc. except this can happen simultaneously by musicians and more often when performing music. I can see the musicians bodies moving with the music in joy and miss that. Music temporarily brings happiness and healing that people need. Something I still long for since I wanted to become a music director and perform but choices hindered my chance. This definitely takes me back and I wish to see orchestra or concertos in person. The joyful musical moments I have experienced recently before COVID was watching Virgil Donati band live. I personally want to attend a performance again.

I drove around 2.5 hours to Buckeye Brass because I have heard nothing but good things about them…read more The show room was amazing and the staff was very friendly, when talking about general cleaning and repair maintenance of the vintage miraphone I had just bought we talked about how I did not want a Chem clean and just wanted to do an ultrasonic clean as to not remove the patina that the horn had. Well, after getting there and looking at my statement I realized that I was not given an ultrasonic and instead a Chem clean. This completely ruined the way the horn looked and they didn't bother to remove the streaking. I also noticed that the fin was coming apart which I would have assumed would be a part of the general repair. Overall just really disappointed with what I got because it's going to be a lot of work to get the horn looking good. It plays well but it just wasn't what I had asked for

My daughter who takes classes here is now 4 years old and is entering her second season. She took the 3-4 year-old intro dance class last year and LOVED it. She just started up again last week as a 4 year-old and is thrilled to be back! She has formed a relationship with the teacher and made friends here too. My wife and I appreciate the childrens' play area that our 2 year-old can play in while our older daughter is in class. There are big screen monitors that we can watch our daughter's class without interrupting the flow of the class instruction. We're right outside if our daughter has the use the restroom or has a meltdown (I've seen it happen). The recital in June is quite spectacle. All of the classes that take place throughout the year get a spot in the recital. Even our little pre-schooler. I have to admit that in all of the leading up to this event, I was not excited to give up a Saturday afternoon for it. But when I saw my daughter on this amazing stage in this fancy auditorium and her face lit up, my heart melted. My parents and wife's parents came too and it was a big to-do (get there early and get in line for a decent seat!). I really really appreciated that they kept the kids backstage and busy (with some parent help) the entire performance and my daughter hung out with the older kids, who really took a liking to her. The relationships she had formed throughout that afternoon were apparent in the final curtain call when some of the older kids were holding her up and showing her how to bow and wave to the cheering crowd. BBDC is as pricey as the next dance studio, but they make it worth your money. The consistent classes, the fun my daughter has there, the friendships she has made there, and the final performance make it all worth it for her. By the end, I was pressuring my wife to sign her up for the next season. And our daughter was thrilled to do it all again.

Their lead instructor, Emily, is one of the few female instructors in the area who has the credentials to compete at the professional open level and can compete with student partners in all four ballroom styles. But what makes Emily truly unique among the local instructors is that she's just as accomplished with club dances like salsa, bachata, and west coast swing, and can even teach dances that are harder to come by such as Argentine tango, kizomba, and urban kiz (the best dance, of course ;P). Basically, Emily is the most credentialed and well-rounded dance instructor in the area, and whatever your dance goals may be, she can at least get you started in the right direction.
