Close to Central London, easy check in, provide toiletries, towels, big room with cabinets that are stocked with dishes, pots, stove, microwave, utensils. Downside is that sometimes there is a cigarette smell that lingers a bit before disappearing at night as well as an old musty smell. The floors and walls are antiquated and a bit broken. A receptionist was hesitant to give another toiletry to me cause it's only one per room but we got 2 people. The sink is very small, hard to brush teeth sometimes. Trash cans are too small. Booked this room because of location and price. Walking distance to the Underground station and restaurants. Quiet area and seemed safe. Bonus kitchenette in our room. Room was clean had everything we needed. Down side is there is no elevator and our room was on the 3rd floor. Room was small but most rooms in London are on the small side. I feel terrible writing this review. I just don't like dissing places. But... yeah, this place was not up to snuff, particularly given the Hotels.com rating of 8.0 and similar ratings from other booking sites. It's in Bloomsbury, in a deeply adorable and fabulous part of London, steps from St. Pancras-King's Cross and a little further from Euston. The British Library is about a 90 second walk away. There are supermarkets, restaurants, pubs, and things to do in abundance nearby. It's convenient as heck. And we got a rate of 186 quid for one night at the very last minute, which was great! That said, I left the hotel the next morning feeling a little... grimy. The "flat" we were given shows up in online pix from 2012 (!) looking clean and sleek and modern. The "flat" we walked into this week was... rough. We felt a disturbance in the Hotel Force when we walked from reception to our building - Building 30 - and only knew which one it was from context (by the house numbers on either side). The building number did not appear on the door, because where it would have been was an open rectangular hole in the wood. Through which you could see. Or quite possibly throw garbage. Or a cat. Once inside (up a steep and grubby stairway) I noted that the bathroom was pretty modern and quite nice, albeit tiny, but the shower was missing shelves (I include a picture here) and my husband, who is slender, barely had room to move around. The bed was execrable. We don't expect huge beds in the UK. But we do expect (for $200 night at a place with an 8.0 rating from Hotels.com) a mattress that is not totally sprung. It was horrible to sleep on, and the springs groaned and rocked and felt like they were about to collapse. Pictures show how the mattress compresses and is smaller than the weird slats/spring thingy beneath it. Just awful. TV was small and weird, and wasn't working when we walked in. Maintenance came and it was working when we came back from a ramble down the pub. Decent channel selection, albeit with an interface that looked like a holdover from the 1990s. (Not that that's horrible, I guess. See? I hate dissing places!) The room is not carpeted. I love a hardwood floor, but not when I look down to see a filmy clump of someone else's black hair skittering over the wood and heading for my feet. The room safe only had one battery in it, and hence did not work. The chairs were rickety. There were no nightstands, no bedside lights, and only sort of grim, depressing Dickensian lighting throughout the room. To get any sort of cozy/homey feeling we had to turn on the light overhead, the kitchen lights, and the light over the stove. Oh - and the window! I got a room with a balcony because it was a tad larger than the standard. Having that view of the park across the road was lovely! But the floor-to-ceiling window (also a sweet feature!) was single glazed, and in October, when the night got down to about 45F, it was BRRRRRR COLD. Even I felt chilly, and I am normally impervious. But the worst was the table/kitchen island unit. It was FILTHY. Just nasty. Gross. Manky, as the Brits say. I swiped it with a wet sponge to see if I could get some dirt off, and the tea towel I wiped the water up with came up gray. Good points? Sweet, helpful, friendly staff. A generous left luggage policy. Location! (See above.) Microwave was spotless/like new; kettle ditto. Oven also very clean. Sink was oddly positioned, but clean. There was a decent supply of plates, cups, glasses, etc. Overall, I can't dismiss this place as totally horrid, because I suspect we got the "Hotels.com room" that is badly in need of a re-furb, and gets let out for a few extra bucks when someone books last minute. I can't think of any other reason for the hideous discrepancy between our experience and the largely positive reviews I saw on Hotels.com and Booking.com and the like. Other folks - maybe those who book direct? - are clearly getting a better room and experience than we did. It's definitely a last minute type of hotel. The main entrance is nicely decorated but the rooms are ok. It includes a bed and a small kitchen. The downfall for me is that the walls are so thin. The hotel arrange to have their premises power washed at 7am next to our window on a RAINY DAY. It was harder to sleep or enjoy our stay with constant noise. read more

Well appointed studio, just everything needed, easy to use washer & dryer, convenient location. We had a ground floor level with backyard & patio. Since there were 2 of us we got a 15sm room, our single friend got a 12 sm. Easy to walk to St Pancras & KIngs Cross stations, and near several tube stops, several grocery spots, restaurants & British Museum. Want to know what it's like to live in London like a temporary local? Then try renting an apartment! We found ourselves needing accommodation at the last minute due to a terrorist attack in Brussels (all trains were cancelled) so I was happy to book three nights here for a decent price. Check-in was quick and efficient, and I appreciated being able to store my bags at the front desk free of charge. Our room was small but cute, perfectly suitable for a couple. The bed was pushed up against the window and there wasn't a ton of floor space, but the furnishings were in excellent condition and the bed was comfortable. There was a small en suite bathroom and kitchenette, which was great for storing our goods we purchased at Bourough Market earlier in the day and for enjoying a cup of tea in the evenings. I loved that we were able to open our window for some fresh air. There are security cameras everywhere for safety. The townhouse complex is directly across the street from a pretty park and is on a (relatively) quiet street considering it's in the city. I thought the neighborhood was nice, but not great. Once I felt a little uneasy walking around late at night, even with my husband by my side, but I was already on edge being a stranger in a strange land and with the current situation as to why I was staying here in the first place. I'd like to go back and stay here again on happier terms, and I wouldn't hesitate to do so. read more

We stayed here for one night on our wedding trip. The guys at the front desk were kind and helpful. They gave us a larger room than I had booked which was very kind, and they also helped carry our bags down. The room was like staying in a little college dorm. It had a kitchenette and plenty of storage. The bathroom was well decorated and had all of the amenities. Everything was clean and well kept. This room was great value and in a convenient area, walking distance to kings cross, st pancreas, and Euston stations. The front of the apartments is very cute, and there is a park across the way. read more

Love this location so easy to get around. Staff was friendly and provided extra coffee when requested. We did the large studio since we would be there for six nights. Typical hotel room size, so not sure what the other options are like. Typical small European bathroom. Provided toiletries, including toothbrushes which was a nice touch. We really appreciated that they offer laundry services, access to washers and dryers for free just need to have your own soap. For us this was perfect, a little kitchen with a Waitrose nearby to get groceries. We would recommend this place and stay here again. read more

This place isn't bad - a few "quirks". They tried to stick us in the basement ("dungeon"), with bags and bags of dirty laundry in the hallway - near the main laundry. I made a scene and got a decent room. Beds are in rough shape (stayed in two separate rooms and both beds were well beyond their sell-by date). Stayed in a different room on the 2nd visit - nice room except bed was like sleeping in a salad bowl - sunken in the middle and sleeping on each side meant you rolled down - to the middle. If they'd replace their beds and send their staff on customer service training, this place would rate at least a 4-5. Staff at the desk are nasty if you approach them about any quirk or issue. I had a five day stay here over summer and selected it mostly due to price (affordable) and location (very close to King's Cross and Euston for train purposes). Check in was painless and quick. We were situated on the first floor of a corner building. The good: Security here is awesome. There are cameras all over and you use a key-fob to swipe entry into the building. There is a laundry station in the basement that you can use free of charge, however you do need your own detergent. This location is very close to a variety of tube stations and grocery stores. The bathroom was also surprisingly larger than I expected it to be. I've had smaller bathrooms in US apartments, so I'm really not joking here. It was a good size. You also have cooking utensils, an electric cooktop and a small fridge so we were able to make a lot of our meals--something that's essential in London if you want to save money. The interesting: Were you aware that window screens are not a thing in the UK? Were you also aware that disturbingly large, yet benign house spiders are a thing in the UK? Well friends, I was aware of neither. This lead to a very harried night in which I perched on top of the bed while my husband tried to trap Aragog before I had a heart attack. It was unseasonably hot in London during my stay (75 degrees F) and we needed to keep the window open in order to have a modicum of comfort in our accommodations. This evidently was unavoidable, according to a friend who lives north of the city. The could-grow-quickly-tiresome: They're not joking about these being studios. You can pretty much reach the stove from the bed. The bed was also the lumpiest, squishiest mattress I've ever lain on. I was ready for some firmness by the end of my stay. Every year, my best friend and I make some time to go down to London for two or three days... just because. This year was no exception, though we went down in Summer rather than our customary winter trip because we had tickets to see Queen (you know, the band). It just so happened it was the week before the Olympics Opening Ceremony, and our usual hotel had put a 100% markup on the price we had previously been quoted. Twas time to seek out new lodgings! Enter Studios 2 Let! Coming up as within our price range, and with excellent reviews on TripAdvisor, I was just about sold on this little beauty! I had never booked an apartment based accommodation before, so I didn't really know what to expect. Before I made our booking, I had to make sure that should we arrive before check-in time, there'd be somewhere to leave our bags while we went off gallivanting like tourists. Once the lovely receptionist confirmed me that this was possible, I didn't hesitate to take the plunge. With the website I used to make my reservation, I was able to pay up front and I didn't have to worry about anything else other than spending money. The week before our trip, I called ahead to make sure that our booking was in place and to confirm that the account was already settled in advance (having worked in hotel reservations, I got into the habit of doing this because sometimes things go awry). Again, the lady I spoke with was lovely, and very kindly assured me that all was in place. On arrival, we left our bags with reception and signed ourselves in so we'd have a quicker check-in come 2pm. When we were finished with our aforementioned gallivanting, we checked in, were given our keys, and someone helped us with our luggage and showed us to our Studio apartment. The building itself is fabulous. The apartment complex encompasses the whole block, and these are gorgeous converted townhouses. The street was lovely and well presented with a distinctly residential feel, which is a nice change of pace from the maze of hotels cramped together in Bayswater. Our apartment was situated with a view of the garden, which meant that there was absolutely no noise from the street to keep us awake at night. When you first look at the apartment, you might think that it's small, but whoever designed it certainly knew how to make the absolute most of the space. There's a fully fitted kitchen, complete with a fridge, freezer, microwave, plates, glasses, cutlery, bottle opener... Everything you would need to be self-catering (worry not, there's plenty of food places nearby if you don't fancy that). There's a breakfasting bench, with folding chairs hiding in your wardrobe, as well as a couple of comfy seats and a table situated by the fantastic full length windows. Each apartment has a flat screen TV and DVD player, a phone, and an intercom in case you're expecting guests, and you also get free wi-fi thrown in. The bathroom has a mirror that practically takes up a whole wall. The space is small, but by no means crowded. I'd be quite happy to live there for a few weeks, as many guests do. Oh! And the bed deserves special mention! Twas like a sleeping on a cloud! I wish I could have taken it home with me, strapped to the bus if necessary. The location of the apartments was convenient both for the fact you only need to get on one underground train to get there from Victoria station (we used Kings Cross, as it was slightly closer than Euston despite what google maps says), and the transport gives quick and easy access to London's main tourist attractions, many of which are a mere one short train ride away. The service was fantastic from beginning to end, and it was probably the best nights sleep I've ever had in London in the 10 years I've been going. We were there recently for one night. The only good thing about the place was the location. Staff was very rude and customer service was nonexistent. We booked 9 months in advance, they even emailed to confirm; but when we showed up, they didn't have our reservation! Nothing more frustrating than when you have done everything right and people drop the ball like that. They found us a room, after we dragged our bags 4 floors up the narrow stairs, the room's air conditioning didn't work (the room was hot and stuffy). We asked for a different room and got the attitude from the front desk. They held our luggage while they figured out availability but made no promise that they would have anything. We came back from lunch and was given a room with air conditioning. No apologies. And yes, WE had to drag our bags up 3 floors this time. Very good place to stay, affordable price. Well located, near Russell Square tube station. Rooms are very clean. Cozy place. Check in is straight and go. Studio 2 let also keep your baggage safe if you arrive before check in time. Check out is fast too, no complications. WiFi is free. Kitchen is full serviced and there is a supermarket very close, in a nice shopping mall. Little grossery stores are present in the surround area, as well nice restaurants and pubs. I had a really good stay here - 10 days in total. The only draw backs I had were that the minifridge didn't really get cold enough, being in a street facing room, I got to hear everyone and their uncle walk by with their wheely bags and there was an odd smell coming from the bathroom. Service is hit and miss. Location is ok. Been to London tons, and only stayed in area out of necessity. Tons of hotels on this crescent. No elevators and very typical narrow staircases. It seems this place is loosing its quality. A few years ago, it was quite a good place to stay. The staff has changed since then, the current one seems mostly Eastern European, and it seems they brought they home culture to the place. Staff members don't know how to smile or say a Hello, 2/3 of the team never even noticed if we gave them a Hi!. One man was so rude, that I would have fired him if he had been my employee. Nobody should complain about his customer accent in such a way he did. The place clearly lacks the famous English politeness. They should care more about the equipment, the place needs a renewal. However it is still quite OK to stay in if you are in London, but only if you don't expect higher quality. We are not sure yet if next time we want to go there. read more
