Woot woot it's a party! For my non-dairy folks, there's only 1 type of sherbet flavour. The best news is that they're open all year round so I don't know what's holding you back. If you want something for home, they have the 1L take home ice cream buckets and cakes as well! Definitely a pit stop if you're in Cottage country.

It has been popular among locals since they opened in 2008. The prices are quite reasonable at $3 for 1 scoop and $4 for 2 scoops. Even banana splits are only $5. All prices include taxes! We had a 2-scoop cone: Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough and Pralines & Cream. Both scoops were creamy and tasty. My son really loved them but I did manage to get a little bit of both flavours. There is some savoury food served too like hot dogs, fries, poutine, and coffees. It is owned by a husband and wife team: George and Irene. Both are very pleasant people. They love having fun signs such as: "adults must be accompanied by children" and "children left unattended in this store will be sold to the circus". You can only pay by cash or e-transfer. There is no phone number because I can see they are extremely busy. You can still contact them via social media. There are picnic tables outside. During pandemic times, all staff and customers wear face masks and there is plexiglass used. Only one family is allowed in the small order area at a time. Just outside the entrance, you can be entertained by a famous saxaphone player, Orlando (a Cuban), during nice the afternoons. Today (2021-09-05), we were lucky to also have a guest keyboardist also from Cuba. There is no free WiFi. It is wheelchair  accessible. You can use a washroom by request. It's the perfect little hut, situated just outside of Bala town, with its own dock and excellent views of Bala Bay. Unfortunately, none of these ice cream places ever seemed to be open in the middle of the summer at the height of cottage season. Until The Scoop. Purchased last year by a local college student and her brother, the hut received an adorable Canadian facelift -- red, white and brown paint -- revamped signage and a new life. The siblings take turns working each evening, greeting customers and proudly scooping delicious, Ontario-based Kawartha brand ice cream. A tiny Swedish berry in lieu of a cherry on your scoop is their quaint signature. We're *so* glad they've set up shop in Bala and wish them the best of luck for continuing success; cuz nothing beats grilling your dinner al fresco followed by a boat ride to town for frozen dessert.
