Our waitress was great when telling her didn't want onions she inquired if it was an allergy. Which all waitstaff should do! Just a personal preference but she proceeded to tell us the hamburger was made with onions so the one guest got the chicken burger which was fine no complaints. The smokehouse burger is full of flavour and HOMEMADE,like they did in the 50 well done ! Big slice of apple pie with a apple crisp topping nice change. Only complaint is the poutine both on the same size, and cheddar cheese not curds . Disappointing when you pay extra! read more

This was my first ever diner experience. Having spent most of my time in big cities and eating at restaurants, going to a diner was definitely something new. I really liked how the place was decorated: pictures, objects, jukebox, and even a Betty Boop cardboard cutout. As for the food, YUM! Here's what I ordered: 1. Chocolate milkshake: creamy with just the right amount of sweetness! The only regret I have for ordering this was that it was so filling that I didn't get to eat much of my burger. Nonetheless, I happily drank my dessert. 2. Cheeseburger with poutine: the burger was great and the patty was cooked well. I was very impressed with the poutine because the gravy was hot enough to melt all the cheese! I can't tell you how many times I've had poutine with unmelted cheese blocks... For classic fifties decor I would give them five stars. For the food I lean more to 3 stars. Our meals were okay and reasonably priced but just okay. My Reuben sandwich was okay although quite salty. I liked that I could replace the fries with different soups or varieties of salad. That was unusual. Fries are fine but when travelling I need more veggies and less fat. My wife had a taco salad and said it was fine, very traditional and fine. Service was fast although our cheerful and pleasant young waitress did forget my salad dressing and I had to ask for a coffee refill. They have no functional Wi-Fi. Hey this is the 21st century and Wi-Fi is not a huge expense so I expect it. Would I come back the next time I'm passing through town? Perhaps after trying out a couple of other places but certainly before I stopped at a multinational fast food place. Go ahead and try it out. A fantastic 50s diner with shakes, burgers and salads. Decor that will bring back memories even if you were not alive in the 50s! I had a delicious patty melt and my spouse had a classic burger. Definitely a step back time walking into this place. Very cool old time diner. Had the 'Great balls of fire' burger with poutine side and chocolate shake. Delicious homemade patty and the burger had a good kick to it. The poutine was crinkle cut fries with shredded cheese. Not authentic but it was alright. The milkshake was big, a thinner malted style and was very good. Overall Stuie's is fair value for what you pay and has an excellent homemade feel to it. Lunch stop on our way through to start the Alaska Highway trek. The menu is a bit more diverse than your typical diner. We all had sandwiches or burgers and everyone was happy with their food. The place is clean, the service was good and the servers are very friendly. I was hoping to have pie but they were out of my first choice and my second choice wasn't ready yet...so disappointed after reading the reviews, I was all set for pie! Terrible service! I don't know if it was a bad day or not, but would it kill you to crack a smile? I was her only table and she barely uttered 5 words. Add to that I figured I'd order a hot dog figuring it'd be something special from the description on the menu. What I got is what you'd get from Ikea for $0.50 covered in melted plastic disguised as cheese. This and a coke came to $13.07!! Not good value at all. Passing through Canada on our drive to Alaska and we wanted a bite to eat but didn't want a drive through adventure between two buns kind of thing. On recommendation from the young gentleman pumping our gas we were directed here, and we were very glad that we were. It has all the ambiance of a little diner from the 1950-1960s.....inside and out, the staff was phenomenal and the food was pretty darn good to boot. Will definitely be stopping here again on the return trip. Looking for something eat and not going to break your piggy bank and actually is appealing to the palate.....Stuies is it !! read more

Great little diner. Stopped in for a solo lunch at the counter. A bowl of their beef barley soup to start with healthy chunks of vegetables. Next a diner style burger well done by the young guns at the flat top grill. And to finish a huge piece of apple pie with ice cream. It was all delicious. The staff was quick and courteous. read more
