I love love Stuyvesant plaza. For one, there are great food options and many I haven't even tried yet. It's hard to do, when you're stuck on your go to's. I cannot go to any other breakfast place but Uncommon Grounds as it is by far one of my favorites haha. I also always want Simone's Kitchen for a healthy fresh option. You've just got to try it cause it's such a great food choice. Lastly, I cannot do without Starbucks as you know that I am truly a creature of habit! I also love my athletic wear so I always go to Athleta as well as home shops Pottery Barn and Sur La Table. There are just so many fantastic shops and eateries all located within one area with a great big parking lot. What more could I ask for? read more

Stuyvesant plaza has many great stores such as the book house, Edleeze Tobacco, Uncommon grounds and many more.

Despite living only a couple of miles from here, I rarely come here for things. I think the biggest issue I have is that many of the stores close early on the weekends, and there have been several occasions when I have driven here for things only to find the stores closed long before the sun went down. On average I think most places close by 6PM on Saturday, and 5PM on Sunday. Good for them, but not for me. I think each store can choose their own hours, but part of the draw of this place is the ability to wander along from shop to shop and find little things that catch your eye. I don't want to bother coming here for just one place. They have several interesting restaurants including upscale French, custom pizza, and several cafes; clothing stores and boutiques; kitchen supply houses, art studios, and other things. Parking is generally available somewhere and since most of the places are under a covered walkway you can get out of the rain or snow pretty easy. I should come here more. I would not have stopped here on my own, ever, given the weird nature of this rehabbed strip mall near an ugly 1960s office building bearing its name stuck off the gaudy strip that is Route 20 / Western Ave. But: on three different occasions over the last month I've been searching for specialty stores for a specific need I had, and came up with the same address: 1475 Western Ave. Which is the address for all the stores in Stuyvesant. And tonight while running my third such errand, I came across a fourth store I'd previously Yelp-bookmarked and got steered to a fifth by a store employee, an excellent restaurant of a type in short supply around here. They've got the Little Book House and Big Book House, Different Drummer Kitchen, the independently-owned Junior Shoe Port (aka Stride Rite), the very decent for a chain Cold Stone Creamery, the strangely compelling Mt Fuji Sushi, Toy Maker, and quite a number of what I'd call "upper middle" clothing store lines (Talbots, Jos. Banks, etc.) Frankly if you can come up with this number of independently / locally-owned shops in one spot, in close proximity to a number of decent dining options, it's worth pointing the car at. If you had this selection of retailers in downtown Schenectady or Albany, people would be singing about a retail renaissance (in fact, it's not dissimilar to what happened to Berkeley, CA, although the high end stores kind of muscled out the middle there, but I digress.) Hipster, as much as I love it and patronize it, will only get you so far if you're looking for size 3 Wide kids shoes, a non-bogus work shirt that's classy but not completely predictable, a salad spinner that won't splatter you, or a children's book in French. Stuyvesant Plaza is, for me, the antidote to Crossgates Mall. Yeah, it's got a few chain stores, but it's also got a nice variety of other stores and restaurants - and a bit of character compared to the malls. I like their variety and the fact that it's not the same old stuff. The one thing I wish they could fix is the traffic pattern going through the parking lot. If you come in from Fuller Rd., the entry is a small, curved ramp which almost immediately comes to a stop sign. If there are 3 cars backed up there, you're still on Fuller Rd., blocking traffic. Proceed clockwise from there (in front of Creo), and you've reached a point where if you want to exit on to Western Avenue, you are typically dealing with a steady stream of traffic entering on your left. read more

Have been here plenty of times in the past, great little spot just off the main drag on 20. Various assortments of small little boutique style shops that will fulfill your hearts whimsy of searching for that "unusual" gift idea for that hard to buy in your life. Easily as accessible and copious amounts of parking available. This small strip mall; i guess you could call it that is well stocked with an assortment of shops, and a couple places to eat. A mix of both chain and private dining. Upon this last visit my wife and I were up in the area amongst the hustle and bustle of the "Black Friday" weekends buzz to kick off the holidays. And we thought that we'd just stop over in the plaza to see what was new or available for gift choices to be picked up later on down the road. We stopped in one of my wife's favorite shops "ten thousand villages" in which they highlight an assortment of artisan crafts from all across the globe. Never know what you'll find ticked away in that shop! In addition we just casually strolled through out the other shops along the way more or less to just "window shop" as they say. Did notice a newer restaurant that caught our eye and made us want to come back and check it out. I believe it was A&Js Italian. From what I've read seems to be a decent place worth looking at. Overall nice little place to shop as an alternative to the chaos of Crossgates down the road in addition to that of Colonie center. Would certainly come back! read more

For me this is the remedy for all the big, boxy malls and, to a degree, box stores that are seemingly everywhere. The remedy comes in the form of an open, airy feel along with the mixture of both local stores and chain restaurants and stores. When I go here, I am always finding something I haven't found before, either in a store or just by walking around. (For instance, there is a 1.5 mile walking route here.) Some of the positive things I have found here are the neat kitschy stores, local flavor, open airy feel, most of the restaurants have some type of out door seating, shopping and or eating venues for just about every type of person/want/need, people/car watching can be fun. While parking is outstanding for an area like this, getting in and out can be tricky as traffic gets backed up on Fuller Road frequently. Going out westbound is slightly easier as there is a third lane, but be careful that you don't end up on I-87 North. read more

Stuyvesant Plaza is a decent mini mall, with a lot of shops, but most of the places here aren't worth going to. The main attraction of this plaza is a TGI Friday's restaurant which has good food, but it's overpriced and has terrible service. The highlights of the plaza is The Book House, The Pottery Place, Ta-Da!, and Primal. Even though this plaza has a lot of diversity with its shops and restaurants, the majority of them are simply not good. For example, Starbucks is terrible, Cold Stone Creamery is overrated, Bountiful Bread isn't very good, Stride Rite is a terrible shoe store, and so on. If you're looking to kill some time and get a quick bite to eat then Stuyvesant Plaza is fine, but don't expect anything special. read more

Ultimately any kind of mall can be no more or no less the sum of its parts. And in this case, that will be defined solely by the places on my radar (the ones I can pull out by memory). Creo - Smells better than it tastes. TGI Friday's - They really are peppy in there. I find it uncomfortable. Starbucks - Has a patio, but the one with the drive through is better. Mt. Fuji Sushi - I'm not eating sushi in Albany Cold Stone Creamery - So sweet. Too sweet. Paint Your Own Pottery - How 2001. Stride Rite - Good expensive shoes for small feet. Post Office - If there is a line, just walk away. Natural Foods Store - I'm not nearly enough of a hippy for this place. Executive Cleaners - Fine but it feels expensive. Wine and Spirits - Why go there when Empire is nearby? Londonderry - They have tables outside, but the food looks bad. Different Drummer Kitchen - REALLY expensive cooking lessons. Toymaker - REALLY expensive toys. The Book House - A gem of a local bookseller. Provence - Some of their food isn't awful. Bountiful Bread - I'm going to say, "Better than Creo." Delmar Bootery - Someone should tell them they're in Guilderland. Breuger's Bagels - Crimes against bagels. Edleez Cigar Shop - Seems to be run by kids, but has good sticks. The Meat House - I'm excited by this. Do they have rugged bear meat? Peaches Cafe - Go here for diner food that's 2x the price & 1/2 as good. Chipotle - Sells some of the highest quality food in the mall for $7. CVS - That place needs to go. It's a blight on the mall. TrustCo Bank - Telling me to trust you in your name makes me suspicious. But it's outside, and mostly shaded. Parking is never a problem. And around Christmas, they have horse drawn carriages. The place isn't awful, and there if plenty of good people watching. There are plenty more businesses in the center. But as far as I'm concerned, these are the only ones that matter. Oh. This is also kind of interesting. When you are there, smile at the camera. You are being broadcast over the internet. It's in the dome on the south side of the mall, on the corner by the AT&T wireless phone store. Creepy. read more

I am from the Albany area and was visiting and stopped into a few of the stores at Stuyvesant. It brought back some great memories from my Childhood when I did all my Christmas shopping for my entire family at Woolworths Five and Dime. For this visit I was there on the afternoon of Black Friday, a gorgeous sunny day and the place was buzzing with people and Christmas music and there was plenty of parking and did not feel crowded. I wish I had more time to walk through more of the stores but I most assuredly WILL be back. So much more pleasant than shopping in a mall. read more

Stuyvesant Plaza - Shopping Centers Near Me - Albany, New York

I remember coming here a couple times last month, both for myself and others and each time I came here, I found this mall to be a good source of some decent shopping. Although the stores are connected by an exterior corridor, it seemed like the stores were well planned out. Though there was no map, it was easy to move between stores here and despite seeing a wealth of popular names such as Starbucks, Sprint and even a USPS location, I can definitely see some serious potential if I was to take some more time to experience it all here. While there is a good walking path around most of the mall connecting some of the buildings here, some of it is in the sun and I felt like I was baking when I sat down on the metal mall benches all while waiting for other things to transpire. But then again, that's coming from a 34-year-old man's perspective who sees some potential at some malls nationwide. read more

I go here once in a while to either go to Friday's, or the Delmar Bootery to get shoes resoled. It's not a bad little plaza. Most of the stuff there is out of my scope, and the few things that are in my scope tent to be on the expensive side. As for the food selection, there's some decent places to eat but most of them, except for Peaches and Fridays, are super niche and just not my thing. read more

Stuyvesant Plaza Shopping Center is simply amazing! Not only does it provide an excellent shopping experience, it also goes above and beyond to support its local community. Recently, it was kind enough to donate to the Caitlin Clancy Memorial Golf Tournament in support of the Guilderland High School Scholarship Fund. In doing so, it helped provide scholarships to seniors in the Guilderland Central School District. I like this mall. Moving here from the west coast, I quickly learned that shopping isn't all that great Upstate NY. However, when I'm here, I feel As though I'm back home. There are also some really cute boutiques. read more
