I don't have to go to Supercuts anymore and sadly learn that the "stylist" who did a half decent job cutting my hair the last time got canned, ran off to Vegas to become a dancer, or got a higher paying job at Taco Bell. Joe's has been in this same storefront near 95th and Kedzie since 1957 or so, and it doesn't look like it's changed much. So the place is the totally old school, and that's a very good thing. You get all the colorful regulars that you'd expect to find at the barber shop. The place is always crowded, which is a testament to the quality of the haircuts and neighborhood barber shop experience it offers. True barber shops like this have become very rare in the modern hair styling world, and I'm glad I found one. Overall, a great place. Here's to it being around for another 50 years!

He was trained for several years in Italy before being allowed to call himself a "barber" and he's forgotten more about cutting men's hair than most U.S. - trained barbers, beauticians, stylists, etc. will ever know. He's very professional, friendly and extremely reasonably priced considering the quality and attention to detail he provides. I live and work in the downtown and near-north Chicago areas and travel all the way to Oak Lawn, where I grew up, to see Mike every five weeks. I constantly receive complements and inquires as to who cuts my hair from people paying three and four times more for downtown, near-north and Gold Coast "stylists." I did a lot of research while we were on lock down to see if I could find a good female barber but I also wanted someone that would know how to work with my texture of hair. I found an African American Female Barber. Her Name is Jessica. I booked my appointment through her website but there was an error with the booking. She contacted me right away and we got it squared away. On the day of my appointment I was about 3 minutes late but she was very kind about it. When I arrived she was waiting for me and went over what I was looking for and I showed pictures of how I would want it and we went over the texture of my hair. She was very through. As for The Fade Room Barber Lounge and how they are handling Covid-19 the place was very clean and there is a separator between each barber. Each Barber did have on a mask as well as every person that walked in was required to wear a mask. There is no waiting area right now because of Covid-19. They do provide Hand Sanitizer. The atmosphere there is hip and cool they have music playing and even music videos playing. With all that is going on I think it is a cool place to come and get your hair cut and relax.
