I am a French wine snob and what I was most impressed by was their unique service that customers can also participate in the winemaking process by bottling, corking their own wine and placing their own personalized label on the wine. Su Vino is a family owened, service is a priority to them and supporting local business is important. Their staff is knowledgeable and can assit in creating a distictive experience. I first heard of Su Vino at a festival in my city. I ordered a bottle of wine online only to discover after I had ordered the bottle they only ship if you order 6 or more bottles. I reached out to the seller and asked for a refund since I did not plan on ordering more than one bottle. I also live 3 hours away from their Scottsdale location, and their limited hours make it impossible for me to get there after work. I have been sending emails and calling the seller for months. He finally responded via email that he would process a refund. That was over 2 weeks ago, and there is still no refund. I made the original purchase on 6/2/2024. If you plan on ordering online, read the fine print. They only ship if you order 6 or more bottles. Don't get ripped off like I did. read more

We came for a pleasant wine-tasting one night after purchasing a Groupon. The tasting was fun - there were some unique fruit wines as well - and we found a few choice wines that we ended up purchasing. The bartender for the night was friendly and helped us select several wines to try, and we also received a few additional samples of some wines that weren't on the menu. I did feel like he was trying to up-sell us a little; his favorite wine which he was definitely showcasing was of course the most expensive one on the menu, and there was a bit of a hard sell to purchase that wine. We also weren't offered the menu for food choice to pair with the drinks. I saw there were some board games in the back. There were only a few people in the winery when we were there, and all the tables said "reserved" on them with only the bar area open, although nobody turned up to the reserved tables (could just be a place-holder). Not sure how busy this place usually is, but I would definitely go back for a glass of wine and some board games if this back area were open. This is the perfect spot to gather friends together for a wine tasting. They have a great selection of wines for tastings and for purchase. I really enjoy the Sweet Red Mid Night wine. I certainly suggest taking a bottle of this treasure home with you. Local wine tasting room located in Oldtown Scottsdale, nearby the Scottsdale Museum. This would be the first visit since they relocated. We coincidentally had a groupon that offered two flight tastings and a cheese plate. Family friendly with various board and card games with a large seating area. Friendly and knowledgeable staff behind the bar that clearly explained the tastings we had! The cheese plate was amazingly tasty and the fruits were very fresh as well. After the tasting I went with a full glass of the red Bella Rosa. The Bella Rosa was my favorite, followed by a Pinot Noir as a close second! We did purchase a both varietals to take home and enjoy! I'm not a huge wine drinker but I understand the appeal of Su Vino Winery. I came here for a friend's birthday celebration. She invited about 20 girls and arranged for a tasting of various wines. In between tastings, we had fruit and cheese platters to munch on. Service was pretty slow but it was just one waiter taking care of us. He was the best part of this experience. The food was delicious and the wine was amazing. I especially loved the Razzle Dazzle sparkling and the Summer Wine. We snacked on the cheese plate, the anti pasta plate and ended it with the mascarpone stuffed strawberries drizzled with Ghirardelli chocolate. All in all it was a pleasant night. We made a reservation for Saturday from a Groupon. Went in and were seated, the server was extremely disinterested in helping us. My partner and I are in our early to mid twenties and have noticed in places like this we are not given good customer service. The server placed the menus and left, then came back picked up our orders and switched us off to the next server (there were about 7 people in the establishment). The new server never checked in and was chatting with every other customer. I did a quick scan of the establishment and all tables were given water glasses when they say down and we were not offered or given any which I found odd due to the fact that we were tasting wines. Then another server came by and picked up the check, he was quite friendly. As for the wines and food, very unique tastings on some and others were pretty standard. We ended up purchasing a bottle to take home. The food was very good, we got the cheese and fruit plate, two basic cheeses and an excellent parmesan and cheddar. This little winery is pretty special. Its very quaint and the staff is amazing. From the beginning they were friendly and looking to help and provide service. Very knowledgeable about wine and do a very good job with their own wines. Had the Cab / Merlot blend and a glass of the Cab. Both very good. I like a nice spice to my wine so the straight Cab was my favorite but they did a really great job blending the two with the Cab / Merlot. Cheese plate was about $12 but worth it. have a good variety of cheese and fruit. I would of liked a few more crackers but made due. All in all a must go if you have not. Horrible customer service. Met them at a wine tasting event in Scottsdale. I loved the Baja wine because it taste like coconut and reminded me of vacation. I ended up ordering 10 bottles online in May. A few months went by and I still didn't have my order. I contacted the company by phone with no response. Then again via email. After multiple emails and asking for a refund Cory (maybe the owner or manager) responded by saying they didn't have the ingredients for that wine and it would be delivered as soon as it was ready. A refund was not an option. I liked the wine and had waited this long already so I hung in there. I finally got it 4 months later. My friend decided to order a case, despite my recommendation against it. She has been waiting over 6 months and is still waiting. I thought my experience was an isolated event...... bad timing on my end. I don't think so. This is how they operate and treat their customers. Not sure how this company stays in business. read more

Made reservations for a Saturday afternoon. We were greeted promptly upon arrival and taken to our table. I think they open at noon, we were the only people there. This was our 1st stop after arriving in Phoenix to kick off my birthday weekend. There was one employee working and he was friendly and knowledgeable about the wines. I also liked the interior decor. The wines were just okay and a bit disappointing. The green apple one for example had a faint green apple taste almost seemed watered down and would have been delicious if it delivered more on flavor. The meat and cheese platters were organized well and looked very pretty but I could use a few more pieces of salami on the meat platter and The cheeses were pretty lackluster. We got a great deal on tastings and an appetizer through their Groupon, which was a fun little date. I appreciated that they run this special. Service was pretty good, and the cheese & crackers were yummy. I just was not a fan of the wine. Their selection leans significantly toward very sweet & fruity wines (Summer Rain tastes like green apple candy), which many people seem to enjoy. However for those (like myself and my date) who vastly prefer dry and more complex wines... there wasn't as much for us. I would get the un-oaked Chardonnay here again, but that's about it. Location, tasty wine, fun ambiance. I have been here a couple times just for fun, and I attended a wine tasting for an organization in 2012. There are Groupons that one can purchase for a flight of wine tastings + appetizers, which is a nice deal. Also, a person can buy it more than once. Location: Old Town Scottsdale, but on the edge near the museum. The location did move just over the summer of 2017. Parking may be a pain at times, but I always go at off times, like later afternoon on a weekday or Sunday afternoon. Old Town has a lot of free parking. Service: I like the service - not overwhelming, but the wait staff are chatty if you wish to chat it up. If not, they leave you alone. Wine: I love the light fruity Su Vino wines including Peachy Keen and Summer Rain. The wine tasting allows a person to choose five different wines. The staff do not go over the wines, but I think if I had asked, they would. Groupons: a good deal, $16 for two people, including flights of wine (five each), plus appetizer. The event I attended in 2012 was well organized and fun. They allowed each person to bottle his/her own bottle of wine, had TONS of food, and allowed us several glasses of wine. Purchased a Groupon in advance and called to see if we needed to make reservations. We were told we could just walk in. When we arrived, the server said we definitely needed a reservation, but the tasting room was entirely empty at the time, so it made things a little awkward but she still seated us. She honored our Groupon deal for four tastings even though we had three people. However, didn't give us our last tasting even though we asked for it. We ordered the cheese and antipasto platter which was definitely worth it. I'm more of a sweet and sparkly wine person, so I thoroughly enjoyed the Razzle Dazzle, Summer Rain and Tropical Paradise. I would've given this place four stars but they seemed to have given my friend the wrong wine for his tasting. He wanted to sample the Pinot Grigio and she brought over a very nice tasting red wine. I think she mixed it up with the Pinot Noir, but since we aren't necessarily avid wine drinkers, didn't think anything of it. Plus, he still enjoyed the wine so we didn't complain. Albeit it was probably our fault for not knowing too much about wine and Grigio is usually a white, but still we didn't think anything of it. However, we bought the bottle of the Pinot Grigio assuming it was the red she had poured for the tasting. She wrapped it nicely in tissue paper, placed it in a bag and we left. We should've definitely checked the contents of the bag prior, but we just assumed everything was a-okay and she sold us the bottle of wine we sampled. I'm not surprised that this winery gets so many great reviews. It's the combination of wine, people and facility that impresses me. I went on a quiet Tuesday afternoon and was lucky enough to have Cory, the owner/winemaker there to pour for me and answer questions. Very friendly and knowledgeable person. Very passionate about the wines and the business. I first tried the unoaked Chardonay which was perfect on a hot summer day. Crisp, refreshing and fruity...perfect! Then the Pinot which was smooth and tasty. Nice light strawberry, toasty oak flavors. Then the Malbec which was one of the best I've had anywhere. I like a hint of blueberry in a Malbec and this one had that! Probably my favorite of the day was the Bella Rosa which is an Italian blend...Sangiovese and Merlot I think. Rich, complex and smooth ripe cherry flavors. Big but smooth. Do yourself a favor and go visit Su Vino! read more

People started to trickle in but it was a Saturday which I thought was strange. Got the tasting and I'm definitely not a wine expert but their wines didn't taste good.... This was my second trip here with my parents. It's a nice break from the crowds on Scottsdale streets during various festivals. They are super friendly and their is plenty of seating for all size of groups. The tasting is five wines from a large selection. I even found a white wine that I really enjoyed there and it says a lot as I'm a red man. The cheese appetizer plate is great and has lots of different color cheeses. It was a Wednesday night and we were the only people there... We sat outside and brought the dog... (would be 3 stars but giving an extra star for being dog-friendly). Travis, one of the wine makers was very attentive and had some good recommendations. We had the cheese plate and a bottle of the cab-merlot mix. We didn't finish the bottle, and it was no problem to cork and carry! The cheese plate had 4 cheeses, dried apricots, fresh grapes, mixed nuts, a mustard, and crackers. It was eh... cheese could've been better. However, we will return - perhaps to make our own wine. It is with some hesitation that I am giving Su Vino a 3-star rating. Allow me to start with the great things and end it with the doozy. The ambience of the venue is quite nice! There is plenty of seating options to accommodate their guests including tables to seat large parties (there were 13 of us who all fit comfortably), smaller tables for intimate seating, bar side stools, and patio seating. It is clean, inviting, with a hint of an Italian influence. Not to mention, they make, bottle, serve and sell their own vintages. It really is a great local business. Unfortunately, as nice as the venue was, the experience my group and I had was leas than stellar. We had made reservations weeks in advance. They did reserve the table for us, however their planning for sufficient staff was not on point. Our server was really nice, but the poor guy had to do EVERYTHING himself, not only for our party of 13, but for the other 3-4 tables of guests he had additionally. He had to take orders, pour all of the tastings, prepare, plate and serve the food dishes we ordered, and clear all of the glasses so they could be washed and reused before each new serving. Their lack of prior proper planning made for an unnecessary, elongated wine tasting. Our bread plate and cheese platter took FOREVER to get out. We had every intention of ordering more food and drinks, but the basic tastings and two app orders we did place took so long we didn't want to chance loosing our dinner reservation. If they would have asked a few more staff members to help out that evening it would have made for a much smoother, more enjoyable experience. I would still encourage you to try it out, but warn that if you're in a time crunch or have a large party, you may want to be prepared. read more

We were actually pleasantly surprised that we both were able to have 5 wine tastings each with this deal instead of what we thought would be 5 shared samples. My fiancee and I are attempting to widen our range of wines that we enjoy so we both branched out a bit and our server was extremely patient and made suggestions and recommendations throughout our time there - he was even kind enough to switch up one of his drink orders since it was similar to one he had tried and didn't care for too much. The Razz was crazy good and we both highly recommend it. We finished off the whole experience with the truffles (well worth the $5!) and I think we only ended up paying about $7 over what we spent on the Groupon itself...so totaled up it was $22 for ten wine samples, one appetizer and an amazing truffle dessert. On our recent trip to AZ, our dear friends took us to Su Vino. We live in CA wine country so I'm a "Wino". We had such a wonderful time. This place is more like a wine bar that only sells their own wine. Grapes come from different places so one pinot noir here is totally different from another one made by the same winemaker. Star of the show was Gianni who took care of us. He is such a delightful young man and already knows a lot about wine. They also have a small menu. We had the antipasto. Su Vino is the only place in AZ that I know of that makes their own wine. I was wondering how they actually did it, and they buy their grapes from all over the world. In the wine bar itself, you can see the barrels and equipment that they use to produce the grapes into wine. I came in with a Groupon, and we found a seat at the bar. The person serving us was a good friend of my friend. My friend is a doctor and he learned a lot from the co-owner who is a PA. It was good to know that Su Vino is family owned and customer friendly. With the Groupon, I was able to take try 5 different wines and share an appetizer with my friend. I tried the white wines and a Merlot. My favorite wine was the Summer Rain, as it had a light taste and fresh flavors to combat the summer heat in AZ. The prices are fairly decent for a bottle, too. The small, charming spot is tucked away from the nightclub scene and hidden in the art gallery district. It has a cute little patio and a bar you can sit at, in addition to a few tables within the restaurant. You can get some delicious appetizers and desserts to accompany the dozens of wines they serve. I recommend the cheese platter ($12.95), which consists of a generous portion of a variety of cheese, plus grapes, olives and crackers. And the Caprese salad ($9.99) was a stellar portion of thickly-cut slices of mozzarella and beef steak tomatoes. This was one of the best-valued caprese salads I've ever had, and it tasted delicous. Su Vino's obvious big draw is its wine. You can try a wine flight of five different types for only $10, and you can also purchase glasses and bottles. Another cool thing you can do at Su Vino is bottle your own wine, complete with custom labels -- perfect for parties or special occasions.
