They say my rear brake pads and rotors need to be replaced + my rear shocks are leaking and are dead. They want $780 for the rear brakes and rotors then another $1250 for rear shocks and alignment. $2,030 worth of repairs for a 6 year old car with about 48000 miles on it. Obviously don't pay this if your car can still run fine and I immediately start searching for auto shops for help. I find out about Atech Auto by sending in a Yelp request and Alex gets back to me same day. He quotes me HALF the price Toyota wanted and can get me in the shop next weekend when I was free. Pretty good deal when compared to some other quotes I got. Bring my car in on Saturday around 9am and it probably doesn't get done until around 3pm. There isn't really a waiting area except for some lawn chairs. It's best to take an uber or ride Muni somewhere else to kill some time until your car is ready. Probably my only feedback is I wish they would've called me when my car was ready rather than me guessing and calling them, but hey they looked busy. Got the car back, paid the agreed price, and was on my way. I don't notice a huge change with how the car feels but I at least appreciate not being up charged twice the amount for similar services. Would recommend reaching out to them if you ever need to work on your car!

Just under $80 all inclusive. After the oil change, the mechanics informed me about a couple other things they recommend I address with my car. They provided me with quotes for visibility but didn't pressure me to complete the services which I appreciated I.e on was a filter change which I can do in my own. Through multiple visits with this mechanic, I've always trusted them to be authentic and I really appreciate their sincerity.

So much so that I towed the car from San Carlos to San Francisco. My daughter's Subaru's radiator broke down and the coolant got into the engine. We got 3 different quotes for various outcomes. It ranged from a couple of hundred to 6K. Part of the problem is that we don't know how badly damaged the engine is. I talked to Steven and sent over the other estimate and the diagnosis from our usual auto repair place. He got back to me super quickly and was able to provide a solution which would solve the current problem and give us time to see if the problem will persist. We agreed on a fix and he got it back to us within a few days. I was so very impressed with the thorough, multi-page diagnostic that caught other things like a manufacturer recall. It really does make a difference when your mechanic used to work at the place of your car make! Either way, we will see if the car is fixed or if we need to proceed to a rebuild/new engine.
