A professional organization I belong to held a dinner meeting for 50 folks here tonight. Our buffet meal, including gratuity and a bartender fee worked out to a rock bottom cost of $27 per person. The meal started off with a pepperoni, cheese and cracker platter before the buffet started. The buffet meal included rolls, salad, a beef, a chicken, and a fish dish, ziti in sauce, mashed potatoes, vegetables, coffee, and chocolate chip cookies. Believe me, the quality of the food was a major topic of conversation. Folks loved the beef dish a lot. The servers and bartender were polite and courteous, the room was nicely decorated, and the sound system worked fine. We were happy with every facet of our event. Nice job Elks!

This year's festival was 5/12-14, "A Taste of Greece." I am writing to say that the lamb was succulent, the gyro perfect, the baklava just the right touch of honey and crisp, the spanikopita generous, the avgolemono soup ("Greek penicillin") just the thing I needed to help conquer my stomach flu. The dessert selection huge. The little Greek ladies strong and proud. They even had a take-out window for those who wouldn't have time to eat in. It's a great cause, not a new idea, but a wonderful one, nonetheless. This area doesn't have so many Greek restaurants, but it is wonderful to have a festival like this to enrich the cultural expanse of the area and to introduce folks to Greek food -- not just Greek food but wonderful Greek food -- and double as a fundraiser for the local Greek orthodox community, who I can only imagine as similarly vibrant. I will be back next year! And I will bring friends!

Door still locked...rang bell and were admitted....first to be seated and to order. The entire menu consisted of two soups, two salads and four entrees. Toasted cheese sandwich, chicken salad sandwich, a fried rice dish and pasta with shrimp. Not much to pick from but we were enjoying the architecture and decorations so decided to stay. Both couples split a very nice beet salad. After we finished them our waitress came and told us that the two of us that had ordered the pasta dish had to pick something else as they were out of shrimp! Did they not plan well or was the shrimp bad? Were they saving what they had for the members that came in after us? First lunch order of the day and 25% of entrees were cancelled? That did it...we announced we were leaving. They nicely comped the salads but it was so disappointing. Not the way to start a practice to try to woo new members. Out into the wind, moved the cars and had a fabulous two hour lunch down the street at Tony Ds.

We've gone to Dodd Stadium several times now for drive thru covid testing. Keep in mind that the…read moreline can get pretty long, so we always plan to get there 1-2hrs before they open. There are 2 different lines, 1 for essential workers, priority and then a standard community line. The staff comes to your window before you go in and radio in the information of those testing with your ID. If you have an appt. they have your information in the system and print out the info on your vile. When it is your turn, you drive into the tent and the staff comes to your window to do the test once you confirm the information on the vile is correct (name, and D.O.B.). They are friendly and the process is quick, so it's not a horrible experience. If needed, they have paperwork to hand you to review the process and information. You don't have to touch anything, just roll your window down and they do the swabbing in your nose and put the swab in a vile and into a separate individual plastic bag for processing. Once you're done, they open the door and you can drive out of the tent. Your results come later via the contact information you provided.

The Pinshack was a classic amusement arcade that opened in East Hampton, Connecticut in October…read more2022. It was founded by Bryan Joy. A mechanical engineer by trade, Joy worked for an electronics repair business serving Wall Street clients for a number of years. Eventually he began to repair arcade games on the side, as well as buying used arcade games on eBay to repair and then re-sell. When the pandemic hit, Joy decided to quit his full-time job and open his own business which he named "JD Pinball". He completely refurbished about 10 machines per year, repaired another 50 machines annually, and also rented out machines for private parties and corporate events. When Joy saw that people were looking for more activities to do during the pandemic, he decided to open his own arcade which featured about 40 games that he had fixed up. Located in an old industrial building, the Pinshack featured classic arcade cabinets, pinball machines, racing games, rail shooter games, skee-ball, shuffle alley bowling, and even Guitar Hero Arcade. Customers were charged $15 each for unlimited free play. Following a serious heart attack and other associated health issues, Joy made the decision to close down the Pinshack. The arcade's last day in business was February 21, 2026. My older son and I stopped at the Pinshack on their final day in business. It's unfortunate because I only just heard about this arcade's existence maybe a month or so earlier, and then not long after I heard that it was closing. My son and I wanted to get one visit in before they closed their doors for good. Owner Bryan Joy greeted us as we entered; he seemed very friendly. There was a decent sized crowd there for one last day of arcade fun. I really liked that there was a nice balance of different game types: classic arcade cabinets, pinball machines, racing games, etc. My son loves racing games and he spent most of our visit enjoying a "Road Burners" motorcycle racing game. It was pure bliss for him. I don't usually stay at a single game for too long, so I was sampling a little bit of everything. I did spend a good deal of time playing "Tic Tac Strike" shuffle alley bowling, as I had never seen it before and it was a lot of fun. My son and I ended up staying for close to 3 hours. It's too bad that the Pinshack closed right after our visit, as I would have definitely come back here again and again. The question on my mind is: what's going to happen to all of those machines? Will a new owner step in to continue running the Pinshack? Only time will tell.

What a great addition to East Hampton's Village Center. The entry fee is $15 per person and all games are on free play, including the claw machine! It seems like every time I visit there's at least one new machine in there. I love the free play concept as it allows me to complete classic games that I never finished. Also, while I was always a pinball fan, I never played it much, saving my quarters for my favorite video games. Now I can practice and really enjoy some great machines from years past. The owner is a really cool guy and is super knowledgeable about games. It's really great that he extends his hours during school breaks and days off to give the kids of East Hampton something fun to do. There is a selection of chips and drinks if you need a snack, and if you get really hungry there is quality pizza, tacos, Asian and coffee just around the corner on Main Street. Definitely stop in and check this place out. Next thing you know it will be two hours later and you'll have beaten your high score at Ms. Pac Man.
