The menu was nice and diverse, something for everyone. Two of use got the Thursday special, meatloaf and the other two, fried chicken. The meatloaf was spot on good. I ordered mashed potatoes/gravy, and cabbage/green as sides. The potatoes were good but the gravy could have been seasoned a bit more, but still good. The cabbage and greens were very tasty with a good smokiness from bacon. A little bit of acidity would have put this over the top, and again, still very good. The fried chicken was cooked perfectly with a nice coating, not greasy at all. The staff were great and the restaurant itself was simple but nice and clean. Prices were fair. I highly recommend stopping at this humble little restaurant for some good home cooking.

When we were leaving we started looking at the pictures and talked with a few locals. History of area is amazing and they gave us different places to see in the area. STOP IN THIS PLACE IS GREAT

We even had some birds hang out with us which was delightful! We started out with wings which I think were cooked very well. Very moist , nice ratio of meat on the bones not dry at all. We like the Honey bee stink flavor the best- quite a unique but delicious flavor and not very spicy at all. I had the Cheech which had a very lovely tomato jam and was very juicy- yum! My daughter got the Steakhouse and said that she really liked the flavors. My son got the club but unfortunately wasn't satisfied with the meat and cheese ratio - he thought it was laid on too thick. So he stuck with his BBQ wings which he had no complaints about! Our server brought us a tray of desserts to choose from which was a great idea since they all looked so good. I settled on the Raspberry Cheesecake cake which I truly enjoyed as my sweet treat. And my daughter opted for the traditional cheesecake which also tasted great! A very nice spot which I would recommend!

Hippie Burger - Beautiful mural on the wall. This wall alone makes this restaurant so much more intriguing in this older town right off the Ohio River.

It's not fancy it is in a store, they sell all kinds of old fashioned candy and bottled soft drinks. They sell peanuts by the pound tomatoes and several other convenient store needs. As far as the food goes they offer a special every Wednesday something like country fried steak and fried okra, and then they have all your basic southern Staples. One of my favorites is just a plain old club sandwich it's not fancy it's just your traditional club sandwich without all the bells and whistles that a lot of the restaurant to do to fancy it up. There's always older men sitting around telling stories from the way way back & A basket of fresh picked peppers on the table. But please don't drive by: The food is very good. And you can get some night crawlers, too. No kidding. The homemade pimento cheese sandwiches are as tasty and fresh as you could ask. Burgers, fries, chicken sandwiches, a little salad. All very basic. Incredibly cheap. The pimento cheese is $2.50. Fries $1.75 No kidding. There are 4-5 big tables with seating for 5 or more. The cook serves your food, you pick out your own drink from the cooler. Most lunches for two come out around $6-7. What makes Dirt Town so special is the crowd. It's the neighborhood meeting place for miles around, and there "the liar's club" gathers for breakfast. That's a group of elderly war veterans (WWII, Korea, Vietnam) who sit around and talk. The conversation is friendly, animated and covers everything from taxes to television. Listening is like being in a time machine, and it's an amazing, wonderful experience. No one who walks in is a stranger, so be prepared to start chatting with your neighbor and new friend. No kidding. Dirt Town is open from 5 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays and Saturdays. It's between Rome and Summerville on Highway 27, about 13 miles north of Rome, the closest city of size. It's the friendliest place I've been into in years, and those little sandwiches will surprise and delight you. The conversation is priceless. And those night crawlers? Yep, that all the other bait you need and other fishing supplies is available here, too. You can even get some advice on how to reel 'em in.
