They had a number of violations from the covid era earlier in the 2020's and i stayed away for a few years. i arrived at the counter and the person had a hard time hearing me . So i had to repeat my self and she did not know about the thanksgiving turkey sub even though their were signs up highlighting the sub in the location. they charged me for garlic bread and i did not get it. i had the diet ice tea from the vending machine it was quite good and ordered the gravy with the sub and the pecan bar . the stuffing on the sub was decent and the cranberry and gravy was a nice touch . i did not get my pecan bar so i had to ask to get it again. It was very quiet so ambience was not existant . it was also 30 dollars for everything which was a little more expensive than i thought it would be. overall the sub was good but not exceptional the overall experience left a little to desired.

When I noticed they open in North Barrie, I thought I would give it a shot. It is slightly larger than the Union Station spot and actually had tables. On to the menu I had giant Club Sub with roast beef, Turkey and bacon and had a chipotle chicken cheesesteak regular with a large drink and a bag of french onion crisps . A word to the wise, I consider myself a healthy eater, but do NOT get a giant sub with Jersey Mike's unless you have not eaten in a week. The giant sub is just too big for one person to eat in one sitting . One thing with Jersey Mikes the subs are very fresh , you can see the care they take in putting your subs together. Both subs tasted fantastic . The bread was spongy fresh. The veggies were clean and crisp and there was a lot of meat on the subs. The big difference between these two locations was that Barrie location's customer service was similar to the American stores that I heard about from my friends in the states who were raving about this franchise. You can see the meat and cheeses getting sliced in front of you with this location and they actually took the time to chat with you and check to see you enjoying the food. Yes I know they just opened and there were some minor errors but that happens for all new locations with chains. The trainers (I think they were American) were there to go over the corrections. All in All it was good value and a fine start for Jersey Mikes in Barrie. I will be going back to try the different varieties of subs and checking out their cookies as well.

Once we reached the order takers (who are outside for some weird reason) we were asked what we wanted to order before we ever reached the digital menu display (heaven forbid we want to learn about the menu before ordering). We decided to order two Chicken Sandwiches. After we placed our order we waited another 10 minutes in the Drive Thru until we received our order. Even though we had our order in hand, we were boxed in at the Drive Thru for another 5 minutes before we could even leave because we were stuck behind other vehicles still waiting for their order. Not sure if this counts as ambiance, but the drive thru experience was the worst I've encountered in years. When we got home, our Chicken Sandwiches were literally just burnt chicken with pickles on a bun - no sauce or other toppings. Not worth $7 a sandwich at all. TL;DR - Pass on this restaurant. Trying to change industry norms in all the most inexplicable ways.

But front-house staff are intolerable. There's an old woman who cleans the dining room. Bless her heart she's trying... but I don't want to have a full conversation in the middle of my meal and I feel guilty hinting that she should leave me alone. One new guy at the counter is incredibly rude and gruff. Might be an ESL issue but still. Another kid is helpless- just stared at me blankly until I asked "are you ready to take my order?" Then he stared at me again after packaging a takeout bag (I wanted to eat in) and I had to ask "is that food for me?" Worst: a young girl ignored my burger in the 'pass' for 2 full minutes while she scraped container after container of sour cream onto her baked potato staff meal. Someone from the kitchen even stuck their head out to remind her that my burger was done. I asked "is that my burger, and is that your lunch?" To which she replied yes to both (as if obvious). I let her know it's not okay to ignore guests' food... but I doubt she cared. If you want bad service and cold food, this is your spot. These are multiple experiences and not a one-off. Wendy's website feedback page doesn't work, so there's no point trying to tell them directly.

I ordered a promotional meal of a med sub, med drink, and reg fries. The portions were all very generous, food was fresh and delicious. A meal for one including a drink for under $12. I will definitely be returning.
