During my first week, I didn't have a UK cell phone plan so I could only look up things when I had internet or see things with my own eyes whilst walking! I was dying for some food a couple of days after arriving and looked up cafes with lunch that were near where I was staying -- that's how I discovered The Treehouse (little did I know I would end up passing it many times while walking!). Despite having an idea of what I would order, I read the menu upon arriving. My American myself was unsure of the names of some ingredients, since they differ from the names used in the US, but the cashier was kind enough to help me figure everything out! I ended up opting for a mozzarella panini with rocket (arugula) and tomato. It came with a little salad on the side and I ordered an Irn-Bru to drink. I took it to-go and really enjoyed everything that I got! I ended up coming back a couple of more times for food for myself and with friends since it was so conveniently located. Overall, I enjoyed my experiences at The Treehouse and it will hold a little place in my heart for being one of the first places I went to after arriving to study abroad :) definitely recommend!

No joke, I am sitting here in Vincent cafe right now using their internet to write this review…read more Currently one of the staff is discussing/arguing with an elderly gentleman (who can't hear or understand her very well) about how he cannot sit at the 4-person table that is available. This isn't the first time it has happened. I have only been at this cafe for a little over an hour and the staff have told no less than 4 different people, including myself, that they were not allowed to sit at the 4 person table if they were just a single or couple and to save it for larger parties. Well, I understand that but each of the people they have told have already sat down at the table, gotten comfortable, had their drinks and were chatting. I mean, really? Is it that important? And they only have one 4-person table and then about 8-10 2-person tables, so it's kind of their own fault for setting it up that way in their shop. Especially when all the tables are crammed together so tight, its no wonder why 2 people would want to sit at the 4-person table. Also, I was using the internet there to do some work and every time the staff walked by they eyed my drink, waiting for me to finish it. Then the second I was finished they inquired if I would like anything else. I told them no thank you and then they cleared my cup. After that point I felt like I had overstayed my welcome because apparently their only goal here is to have a bunch of empty tables, so if they get a rush of some sort, then all the 30 people that come in at one time will be able to sit down... Instead they just seem to be scaring out the customers. I was really upset by this because I live nearby and was genuinely hoping that it would be a good place to work at since I work from home and like to pop into cafes for the change of scenery. Unfortunately this was a bad experience. I mean, perhaps their food is good as the other reviewer states, but I didn't try any of it, just had tea, which you can't really mess up on. So if you want to stop in, I recommend you get it to go and not to sit in.

I couldn't believe the prices and I was shocked when the total for a bowl of soup and a cup of tea was only £2! Unbelievable and the soup was absolutely delicious. I sat right at the back and there's a large window that let in the beautiful sunshine that made my visit all the more pleasant. The woman who served me was lovely and the atmosphere here is great ensuring that I will definitely be back. As I looked through the menu I noticed that it wasn't only my soup and tea that were a bargain. Baked potatoes are only £2.50, a full breakfast is only £3.30 and if you go between 3-4 you're in time for Happy Hour when you can get a sandwich and a drink for only £2.50! What a bargain. Vincent Cafe is delightful, friendly staff, beautifully decorated, excellent food at amazing prices and I highly recommend it!

In fact,…read moreif you didn't know that everything here was good and virtuous, that whatever your dietary requirements you are probably guaranteed to find it catered for, you wouldn't realise that that was the whole point. Sure, there's gluten free stuff, vegan stuff, dairy free stuff, juice cleanses, organic boosters, aaaaaaall that jazz. But it doesn't feel preachy or superior - it's just... really nice. Wooden tables, big front window in a leafy street in Marchmont just beside the Meadows, lots of light and space, and a mighty fine looking lemon tart I want to go back and try. Yep, it's a winner. Maybe they could do with a couple more comfy places to sit, perhaps, as one of my lasting memories is of "quite hard". However, my carrot, orange and celery juice was a super-refreshing start to a day that would later contain, from another establishment, two coffees in a row and the world's largest slice of red velvet cake, and yet I felt healthy all day because of the juice. Maybe that's the only danger here: the ability to fool yourself your diet is JUST FINE because you feel so good from just the smallest Meadowlarking of a morning.

I especially loved their juices (I got the greenest one on the menu), and smoothies. Super friendly staff, great space, and a bunch of options for vegan/vegetarians. A bit pricy, but the food is good!

Admittedly, I should have had one of their trademark lattes, but I just wasn't in the mood for coffee. The decor inside feels relaxed and stylish and the staff are friendly. I went for a cheese, ahm and tomato sandwich (wasn't on the menu, but made it up for me anyway) and a can of coke, which came to only £3 altogether. I thought this was a great deal and the bread was tasty along with decent quality ham, cheese and fresh tomato. I'd certainly come here again as it's a great coffee shop which offers nice, quicm service and brilliant food.

Firstly, I have tasted them, and the Lattes are great - but maybe Lazy Lattes should have been named Not So LAzy LAttes, as this little cafe has a huge range of things to offer from sandwiches to soups and salads - all of which can be taken out or enjoyed in the tiny sitting area for customers. The cost of all this? Well not much, as regular teas and coffe can set you back around a pound - but the infamous Lattes aroun £1.50. A tiny amount compared to the chain coffee shops.

The Mushroom Toast was very tasty according to my wife. The place is small and part of the larger establishment next door but still the same great food. The blood pudding is not quite my favorite. And the bean with the red sauce is a little too spicy for me. But overall it is very good. Chai latte is super yummy and not overly sweet!
