Jennifer, the owner, showed up at my hotel room right on time; she was personable and very knowledgeable. She answered all of my questions before we started. After setting up her equipment, she put a crème on my knees, elbows and palms that would protect the skin from the spray (no ugly orange palms for me!). After spraying me all over, she dried me off, and we were done! Quick and painless. My skin was ready for the dinner I was required to attend that Friday and for an unbelievable value; with her coming to me it was $35, if I were to go to her, only $25! Not bad for weeks of lovely skin. I am now a fan of airbrush tanning in general, Sohler Glow in particular :)

I spelled my name again slower and she once again rolled her eyes. By this time I was annoyed so I rolled my eyes. She stopped abruptly & viciously confronted me "did u just roll ur eyes at me?!" I responded "yes in response to ur repeated eye rolls". She began flipping out in a very confrontational way. She wanted an argument & I just wanted to tan. Eventually I told her "u r acting bitchy & u know it!" She started escalating again, "did u just call me a bitch?" She grabbed the phone & ran to the back of the store saying "I'm calling my manager". Left me standing there for about 5 minutes so I finally left & went to the Short Pump location & reported her behavior to the manager there. I've never been treated so offensively by an employee of any establishment ever in my life. I was in a great mood when I entered-Her attitude was unbelievably confrontational, rude & offensive. I cancelled my membership over this situation as I don't want to experience anything like that again. Since I don't hv her name, I will describe her appearance: petite, possibly in her early 20's with long, dark, curly hair working alone on Tuesday. My wife and I booked a couples spa day about a month and a half ago. This is important on why it…read morewas booked so far in advance. My wife and I were in Short Pump and decided we wanted to schedule our couples spa day so she called the Short Pump location. I was sitting beside her and they were on speaker phone while she scheduled. They kindly asked if "your husband" would be ok with a male massage therapist. This is a no for me and always will be. It's my personal preference and will never change. My wife said no and they told us it would be about a month before they could accommodate us. We showed up on our scheduled date after working extra late the day before because it takes us an hour to drive to this location and we know it would take up our whole day. After sitting in my sauna for 20 minutes I sat there waiting for 10 minutes for my therapist, who, to my surprise was a male. I explained I did not want a male therapist. He was polite and I thought was going to tell me to wait a few minutes while he figured this out. Instead he said "go ahead and get dressed and go to the front". So that's what I did expecting an employee or manager to come figure out what needed to be done. It's also important to know once he told me this I told him to tell my wife because I know she would have gotten up and left. He said to me "Oh, she's probably started her treatment". He did not walk me to the front or talk to me after in any way. The staff sat at the front desk whispering back and forth so much that I felt uncomfortable and decided to wait outside. 2.5 hours later I get a call saying it's time for my facial. I explained what happened and told them it was a terrible experience and they said sorry and I won't be charged. She also said she would have a manager contact me. Guess what, not contact has been made to me directly. However, my wife called and let them know just how bad and unprofessional this experience was. The manager, Kendall, agreed and said this is unacceptable and she was going to contact upper management to see what they could do. After Kendall failed to contact my wife as promised she called her. Now Kendall told my wife I lied, that never happened, there staff did nothing wrong and they could offer me 20% off if I come back in. Let me be clear on how I feel about Scents and Serenity. I would rather chew my own fingers off than step foot into that spa again. I will eat the money I wasted on this place rather than be treated so badly, called a liar and listen to the excuses the staff made to protect their mistakes. It was clear and I heard my wife directly state I wanted a female therapist and they agreed and scheduled a later date. Oh, let me also explain that my wife probably hadn't even started her session and had a female therapist. They easily could have corrected this by switching. We would have been completely fine with that. And time wasn't an issue. We started 10 minutes early to the excuse of "you wouldn't have gotten all your time" is irrelevant. Look, I'm sure people may love that place. Everything is good until it isn't and the way the manager handled this showed my their attitude towards all their clients behind closed doors and money is the only thing that matters to them.

I have really sensitive skin and always break out after getting my brows done, whether I do wax or threading. I decided I had nothing to lose by booking a brow appointment at Sugar and Hive. I thought I was booking an appointment to have sugaring done, but when I got there they clarified that it was wax, which was no problem. The area was bright, nicely decorated and squeaky clean. There's a large open treatment area where the facials and other skin services are done and then a couple of treatment rooms for body waxing. My waxer happened to be able to do my brows in one of the treatment rooms which I was glad about. I walked in and was floored by the over the top (see what I did there?) decor. The wallpaper on the ceiling is such a nice touch since you're laying down on the table. I love when businesses really hone in on the little details in order to make the space shine. After talking through my options, we decided to go with hard wax, instead of soft, for my sensitive skin. The treatment was painless and afterward she covered the area with hydrocortisone cream. My eyebrows looked very natural and nicely shaped. I was very happy with the service and the best part is that I didn't break out! The hydrocortisone cream must have been the golden ticket. I made my next appointment before I left and am looking forward to it.

I received a custom facial from Lani and it was a great experience. She was super friendly and explained exactly what products she'd use based on my skin from her observation and my concerns. The facial was awesome and I'd love to put it in my routine consistently but it'd be a bit of a splurge for me. Now the space itself was beautiful but could use some improvements for customer experience. First the room I received my facial didn't have a curtain it was open which made it hard to relax and wind down because I could hear people moving throughout the spa and talking. A lot of talking. Not obnoxiously just more than I'd care to hear since I came to relax. Lastly. The music choices could also be a bit more relaxing like calming/soothing instrumentals rather than music with lyrics. Overall I'd visit again but some changes could make this a much better experience.
