Sugartown Veterinary Hospital is a terrific place for cats and dogs. I brought Abbey and Poco, my now deceased dog and cat here, and now bring my new dog Odie. I've been bringing pets here for 15+ years. Dr. Prier runs the place and is very knowledgeable and relaxed. You never feel like he is pushing for medical care your pet might not really need. In fact he is conservative in his approach which I appreciate. He always takes time to explain what he's doing and why. I wouldn't go anywhere else.

He is flexible and provides a prompt response for requests for his services. Our dog was diagnosed with inoperable cancer. Rather than put her through the trauma of another trip to a veterinary hospital we chose Last Act of Love. Dr. Shields arrived on time and conducted the entire process in the peace of our home, with our dog rested in her Mommy's arms. Dr. Shields never rushed the process and his compassion for the entire was process was fabulous. We would recommend him, without any reservation, for this service to any pet owner who wants to have their pet in the peace and comfort of its home.

Last year, I had to make the heartbreaking decision to euthanize my dog due to a diagnosis of Idiopathic Aggression/Rage Syndrome, a decision that was mandated by a court order. Dr. Shields came to my home for the procedure, making a 45-minute drive to be there. What I want to highlight is his incredible patience and kindness - on three separate occasions, I wasn't able to go through with it, and he came back each time. Despite the challenges, he remained understanding and compassionate. I'm so grateful for his professionalism and the care he showed my pet and me in that moment. Thank you, Dr. Shields, for your kindness and for making a tough moment a little more bearable.

As I stated in my Facebook review: We would like to express…read moreour thanks and gratitude to Tender Comforts In home Pet Euthanasia for helping us today as our beloved Hamish transitioned from our hands across the bridge to God's hands. Hamish is our beloved almost 16 year old dog who had been increasingly in pain and panting, showing signs of dementia, and losing the ability to get up off the floor without assistance. Making the decision to put him to sleep was so very difficult. We were so relieved to find a vet who could provide a relaxing outdoor setting without the stress of a traditional veterinary hospital. Tender Comforts In home Pet Euthanasia is set on a farm in the country, so, on a plush blanket laid on grass and clover, underneath an oak tree, with a picnic table and benches available, beloved Hamish was able to gently leave behind his pain and anxiety with the help of Dr. Craig Little and Nurse Cindy. They explained everything that was going to take place and chatted with us which helped us relax. And of course they handled Hamish gently and compassionately. I was able to sit on the grass right next to Hamish and pet him constantly throughout the procedure. They explained some things along the way which was helpful. I remember Dr. Little reaching across Hamish with his stethscope to listen to his heartbeat, and gently indicating to me that he was gone. We were not rushed away; I was able to continue petting and talking to Hamish as long as I wanted to. My husband and I, as well as Hamish, were treated with great respect. Before we left, there were hugs all around. I noticed that when we left, Cindy got on the ground with Hamish and continued to pet and care for him. So for Hamish, it was a day that began with a breakfast of brownies, ham and cereal, which was followed by a nice ride in the car to Readington, where he got out onto a grassy field with a cozy blanket waiting for him to rest upon, and friendly people waiting to help him. Yes we are sad, and yes, we miss him, but the quality of care we received from Tender Comforts In home Pet Euthanasia definitely has helped us get through it. I should also mention that Dr. Little's wife Susie was our first contact with Tender Comforts In home Pet Euthanasia. She set up our appointment, and facilitated changing the times when we requested it. She was very compassionate! I also need to mention that we were given a sympathy card with wild flower seeds and a pamphlet on coping on the loss of a companion animal. I would not hesitate to use this service again, and highly recommend them to anyone who needs it for their pet. This is a tremendous resource!

Susie and Dr. Craig could not have been more caring when my dog Rio stayed with them for a week. Of…read morecourse they sent photos and texts and treated Rio like a prince. Because Rio is an older dog and not always a great eater, Dr. Craig kept Rio in his lap and hand fed him. Susie cut up his meat in tiny pieces and sprinkled treat tidbits on top to tempt my fussy eater. Rio was so in love with Dr. Craig that he followed him non-stop and slept with him. Susie and Dr. Craig go way beyond mere daycare and understand each dog as an individual. They cater to doggy preferences (and they love and board cats, too). If you're lucky enough to get a space at Tender Comforts, you'll find an amazing place for your dog to spend time while you're away.

She did not rush through and was gentle with our cat and with us. Paws at Peace offers some extras (a paw print and a bit of fur in a little jar) in addition to cremation options. I initially thought these things were silly but I am glad we got them. It was easy to make the arrangements. We called at 8 AM and got a same day appointment. We got a text of the expected time and an update when there was a very slight delay. We got a follow up text the next day, with an offer for grief support. This is a well run organization. They know what they are doing. Best of all, they did not cause any additional grief to what was already a very sad day.

He was only five years old so even though our time together was short, he brought more love and joy into my life than I ever thought possible. I first contacted Paws at Peace a few months before I ultimately had to make the decision. Colleen was my first point of contact, and from the very beginning she was warm, patient, and understanding that I was still trying to figure out whether it was the right time. At that time March, Applesauce thankfully still had some good days ahead of him. But by May, he had slowed down significantly and was in a lot of pain so I knew it was time. Dr. Zhu came to our home and was so kind, compassionate, and gentle in a way that made an incredibly heavy moment feel just a little lighter. She never rushed anything and gave us extra time with him, which was something I had been so afraid wouldn't happen. She asked about his favorite toys, and in his final moments I found myself reminiscing about him with her as if she were a friend who had known us both for years, even though we had just met. After he passed, he was wrapped in a beautiful blanket and placed in a basket. I carried him down the stairs and brought him to the car for cremation. Saying goodbye to him was heartbreaking beyond words, but the way Dr. Zhu handled every step was so thoughtful and tender that I feel deeply grateful he was in such caring hands. I truly feel so thankful that my vet recommended Paws at Peace to me. They even followed up afterward with a beautiful card and continued support, which meant more than I could express. In such an unbearable moment, they made me feel held, supported, and cared for throughout. They helped make one of the hardest days of our lives a little more bearable and surrounded by so much love and compassion.
