I think one of those moments when you realize you're actually an adult is when you get excited about thinks like... consolidating your student loans! Leaving work on a Friday evening with every intention of climbing directly into bed! Last, but not least, finding a physician (or in this case, a group of physicians) who I not only trust, but enjoy seeing!
I've been to Mohawk Village Medical for about 4 or 5 visits and every time has been roughly the same. The atmosphere is relaxed and cozy, not stainless steel or glass and white sterile surfaces everywhere. Makes you feel at home. There's a TV playing local news and music in the waiting room, but not top-40 stuff. Bizarre stuff, but it's enjoyable and relaxing! Great books, too. No, better than great. Best waiting room ever.
I've seen Dr. McNiff, Dr. Godwin, and most recently, the physician assistant (I feel weird leaving her out, so I'm going to pretend she's a doctor, especially since she was just as attentive and knowledgeable as any doctor I've seen!), Dr. Azad. They're all very very different individuals, but I feel like with each one of them they've had the same goal: take care of my immediate needs in the cases where I was sick, or, when there for a well visit, to ensure that I'm healthy and that all of the crazy stuff that goes on in my head ("hey doc, I've been feeling run down, I think I might be dying? Do I have leukemia? Is this rash, which is clearly due to it being really dry outside, bedbugs?!") is BOTH recognized as being a concern, no matter how crazy it is, and proven to not be the case be it by examination, lab tests, or sending me off to get a sonogram or anything else done.
Now that I have a rapport with each of them, I feel like I can see any of the three and will be in good hands, but also know who I feel would be best to see me depending on what's going on with me at the moment. This is possible due to how easy it is to get in for an appointment in the near future, which is fantastic.
The staff has always been great to me, as well. Has varied from visit to visit which is a good sign: if I feel like I'm dying due to influenza, I don't really want to chat it up if I show up early to my appointment, but if I'm feeling great, it's recognized and everyone's happy to have a short chat before the doc is ready (which has been on-time every visit except for one, but there was some sort of medical emergency going on and I only had to wait for ~10 minutes while everything was settled). Things happen -- totally understandable! The main issue when these things happen, though, is that you start to feel upset if it's not recognized and no explanation is given. Not at Mohawk Village, though! Very happy.
Plus, my lab results have been delivered usually by the next week directly from the doctor or via an e-mail by Ethan the practice manager.
I have so much respect for all of them -- absolutely give it a try! Don't let these previous reviews stand in the way -- some people will never be happy or get upset if they feel like there was one issue rather than addressing it with someone so it can be fixed. As a manager myself, I absolutely hate it when someone makes a formal complaint without try to have the situation rectified instead, especially considering most complains end up being due to some sort of confusion or error which, although may have been avoidable, was not intentional!
Much love for all of you at Mohawk! Thanks for keeping me healthy and as sane as I possibly could be! ;) read more
