This is THE place to get coffee in Macomb. The owner, Brandon, is frequently there and is always friendly and helpful. In addition to normal coffee and lattes, they also have a wide variety of other drinks and baked goods. Brandon goes out of his way to keep the selection fresh. There are always seasonal specials available as well as a seemingly endless selection of syrup flavors to create your own "special". On this particular trip, I enjoyed an iced peppermint mocha that was very good. read more

This is a great place to spend time alone or with friends. The ambiance is amazing and the cappuccino is delicious! From what I have heard (from friends), most of their beverages are good. They even carry a few desserts, however, I have never really tried them. While you're there, be prepared to run into someone you know from WIU, it has happened to me almost every time! I used to attend college at WIU but never stepped foot inside this establishment. I am pretty sure it was because the Turning Point coffeehouse was across the square and thats where us "cool kids" hung out. My sister and I wereback in the area visiting my cousins and we went into Macomb to bowl. We decided to get a latte first. The blonde barista (who was quite easy on the eyes) made a very nice Half Caff Sugar-free Caramel Skim Latte for me. I was quite happy seeing as it is very hard to find one in the area. So as my cousins, sister and I made a spectacle of ourselves inside this warm environment I couldn't help but wonder why I never came here when I was in college. Great coffee, great barista. I'm a City Slicker nowadays, but Sullivan Taylor is still the best coffee house I know. I am a big fan of the coffee, the staff, the aesthetic, the clientele, and the location. Definitely a shining star of an establishment in a small town like Macomb. They even carry Stash brand tea. That's good taste. read more

Coffee here is good. Great special flavors..just had the candy corn flavored, which sounds strange, but was great. Chai tea latter's are a powdered mix, which could be better. Staff is friendly and it's a great place to sit chat and do homework as a college student. read more

Spent a few hours studying here while I was waiting for a ride to arrive. I was really pleasantly surprised by this place. It meets all my standards of a good coffee place in the city: it's in an interesting old building, has a good drink selection, free wifi, lots of cozy seating, and good service. At the same time, it has some great small-town aspects that made me like the place even more. When I entered, there was a large group of locals who seemed like regulars chatting with each other and passers-by. They noticed I was alone and even invited me to join them, which I thought was incredibly nice. The staff was also super friendly in a not-overbearing way. read more

We decided to stop here for coffee and tea before we head for home, just here one night. We choose this over the Hampton breakfast. The tea and coffees are both good. The service was prompt and friendly. There's a very limited pastry selection (most appear to be scratch made) if your looking for something to munch. The bagels (commercial bagel) are available but similar, a limited selection and it's self service if you want the bagel toasted, just like home. Basically a basic coffee shop, nothing fancy. The shop is comfortable, relaxing and low key with an interesting mix of folks, conversations, all depicting a slice of Western Illinois American life and culture. We'll definitely keep this spot on our list for the next time we're in Macomb. read more

Free Wifi, cheap caffeine, a potpourri of WIU stuff and gorgeous collegiate aged feminine employees make this establishment on my top 5 places I hang out at in Macomb. If you are looking for somewhere beyond the Starbucks universe, def check this place out. A comfortable hang out to chill out and drink some tea. Great location on the square to get away from the hustle and bustle of the wiu campus. I loved that they had a huge selection of teas and flavored syrups. Great service as well! I am a coffee drinker and very much into coffee shops. My review is based on my last five years of regular experience at this place. I go to this place because I don't have a choice. Sullivan Taylor Coffee House is a very poorly managed place. The staff who works there (mostly students) is great & very nice but the owner is extremely bad. He takes advantage of the location i.e. at the square and knows that there are no other options for people. If you come to this coffee shop, you will realize that: 1. Many electric outlets never work. If you ever point out to the owner, he pretends that it just happened and he was not aware of it. 2. When you sit next to a wall, you will notice how dusty it is and the upper portions has never been painted for a long time. 3. The owner also owns the residential units above the coffee shop and makes all the tenants and customers share the same wifi internet which is not high speed and half of the time you can't even check your email. 4. If you look at the kitchen area carefully, you will notice that it is a health hazard. 5. There are bar stools around the bar. Please look the cover of those stools and ask yourself when was the last time, those cover might have been replaced? 5. The middle portion of this coffee shop is dark and dingy with minimal lighting where you can't read anything. 6. The main door does not close completely and during winter you will constantly feel the polar breeze if you are sitting in the front. Most other reviews are really good for this place. No offense but I question if the people from this coffee house are putting those reviews. Once again I don't have anything against the owner or this coffee shop but as a responsible member of the community I feel very badly about this place. Clearly this coffee shop is doing profitable business but the owner gets away by not providing decent service because there is no competition. I wish the owner understands that customers who come to this coffee shop deserve the reciprocal quality service. I am a strong supporter for local businesses but when such businesses completely ignore the customer quality, they don't deserve to be there. read more
