She indeed does have the best pancakes and also makes incredible other dishes! This gem is located about 45 minutes south of the quad cities, down a sunny paved road, deep in corn country! It's in a neighborhood and aside from the pancakes on the roof, it's pretty nothing flashy. It's a true down home type diner with seating for 60 ish inside and plenty of outdoor seating. The food here is both American and a couple Chinese dishes - yes, we had dumplings with our breakfast! Totally worth it! We also had chicken fried steak, steak and eggs, and omelette, biscuits and gravy, and her famous pancakes! The pancakes were pretty Epic! Fluffy, sweet, not overly heavy and made just perfect with double butter - because let's face it, you're not here for your health. They had us in and out in like 45 minutes - the place is a machine! We had a chance to talk with Judy, and she was as nice as we had hoped! We got to chat with her for a while about her favorite foods to make, and got a fangirl/boy picture with her outside the restaurant. I have had omelets here twice and both time I got too much to finish. Decent prices. The surprise is the have game nights 4 times a week. We were finally sat for a table, the server didn't acknowledge our table. When the server came, never introduce herself, acted like we were a burden to even be in the restaurant. She took drink orders, didn't let us order milk or cream for coffee. Brought the drinks never took out, proceeds to take order for other tables. It felt like regulars the knew were prioritized, over other tables. We walked out after 45 minutes. When we went to pay for the drinks we didn't consume. However, I came back to Springfield for a visit and gave them a try - and it was absolutely worth the wait. I had their Fall Over soup -- chicken stock, homemade sausage, sweet potato and pear. Even my 3-year-old said it was one of her favorite soups she's ever had! I also tried the Aloha sandwich - toasted pretzel roll, Korean BBQ pulled pork, pineapple chutney, mixed greens, and tomatoes. Both of these sweet and savory dishes were incredible, and I'll likely stop by for lunch again before we head home next week. Aside from the food, this new location has much more space and brings a new energy with it. Many of us have nostalgia for the former location, but I like this one as well. What made the cafe stand out to my family, however, were the two women running the show. It was kind of a difficult evening, especially with my son who was getting hangry. The women were attentive and accommodating with my kids. We asked for sides of peach slices for the kids since they don't like fries, and that was no problem. We added ice cream too, and my kids were cheerfully served generous helpings. One of them even brought over some coins to give my kids for being good! When you're used to going to bigger establishments in larger cities, you're used to being served as just another table, but the women here went out of their way to make us feel welcome, and we so appreciated that!
