This is a really neat little place. I love the layout and the overall aesthetic. All of the desserts look very scrumptious. So many unique and tasteful items on the menu. There wasn't much to my spinach salad, but that's okay because I like to keep my lunch light. This might be a nitpick, but the silverware, straws, etc kinda seem to be scattered about in different areas. Overall, I like the place and I definitely want to come back and try some of their other goodies! read more

Amazing, as always. It's no secret that I love coming when the crab cakes are on the menu. This visit, I had my mom with me and she got the oriental chicken salad. I tried a new dessert this time around, the mint chocolate cake and it did not disappoint. I really want to give them 5. I love the place, love the people. Breakfast is on point and those cinnamon rolls are fire... But... But... there are a couple thing that are so bad it drags them down. 1: The water is very very bad tasting. If you fill up a cup from the fountain drinks, you can taste decades of old pipes. They really need a filter. And that's likely the same water going into your soda... Please invest in a new filter... 2: The sandwiches... I just had one and it came out with about 1/2 a cup of mustard. And it was on both top and bottom... What the crap, guys? It was such a comical amount that I feel like the cook either didn't know what mustard is, or worse didn't care at all about their product. I can't overlook these two things. I had breakfast at the Old Dairy a few weeks ago when I was in town with family. It was an okay breakfast and had some vintage diner-y charm inside. The breakfast menu doesn't have a simple eggs with meat and toast or hash browns, but I was able to make that my ordering three items a la carte. Get a brownie! They are amazing! They food is great too. I always do the half n half because their soups are always amazing but want a sandwich too. Their coffee is great and have an amazing vanilla chai. Oh and don't forget the ice cream. I've only been in here once with a friend for ice cream, it was ok, not the best I've ever had but ok...passable for ice cream. The only thing I advise keeping an eye on is the prices as they were a bit steep for the offerings. Not worth the price for me personally, but ymmv. read more

Is this place still open? I don't know why I thought it had closed. This was my favorite place to grab coffee or get lunch with a friend or professor during my second year of grad school at Western. I have very fond memories of meeting with a professor helping with my research at this cozy, midwestern, small town cafe. This restaurant was a horrible disappointment. My high school special needs class (20 people total) made reservations several days in advance of a field trip. On the day of the trip, I called to give advance orders to help out the wait staff. I was told that they had taken other large parties' reservations and had no room for our class. I asked if she was telling me that they had no room for us. She offered to give me the owner's number, but I saw no point if there wasn't room for us. She confirmed that there no room. We will never try this place of business again. This is no way to treat potential life-long customers. Now, should I think that it was discrimination against special needs kids?!? read more

Customer service is always great here even when they are busy, but I agree that their food is a little hit or miss. The Salmon burger is clearly a frozen patty from a bag, I wouldn't suggest it. I am a fan, but be prepared for SLOW SERVICE. The way they take orders is really inefficient. I've seen them crazy busy with only one person behind the counter taking orders, ringing up the orders, and delivering the food. It drives me crazy! It's good food but you can't do it on a short lunch hour. Today I went to pick up my lunch and the cashier was visiting with a customer. She saw me waiting & she continued to visit. Food was up and she continued to visit. By the time she quit visiting, she had 2 orders up, me to ring up, and two others there to order. No one else out front; I think they could work on that.
