Sumahan is a great boutique hotel on the Asian side of the Bosphorus with great views. It has the best view of the suspension bridge.
The hotel has three floors. I stayed in the garden floor in Loft Suite room. The room has two levels:
First level is the saloon and wc. There is a minibar and a small TV, seating area, and a small fireplace (this is great). You can enter the room from inside the hotel or from the garden. The upper level has the bed and a large bath with shower and a small hammam. There is another small TV on this level.
There are separate A/C units in each level for warm or cold air.
The pros of the Loft Suite: large bath with hammam, nice bed, direct access to garden.
The cons of the Loft Suite: extremely small TV screens (They should put large LED TV's on the wall!), no soundproof (you can hear all door slams from the corridor), wooden floor makes so much noice when you walk in the room.
From Loft Suite you can exit directly to the garden and sit & enjoy the views or you can relax reading your book.
Breakfast is served in the garden level, in a restaurant attached to the hotel. The views are nice, the service is good, but the breakfast was very poor for such a nice (and expensive) hotel. There wasn't much variety, it should be more "classy" and fine.
There is free Wi-fi at the hotel (no password required) but it was too slow.
There is a small boat of the hotel that takes you to the European side (Kurucesme and Kabatas piers) so you can go to the old city area or to Taksim etc for your daily tours.
Overall the hotel is great for a romantic weekend or for a relaxing holiday. I might give it a 4-stars review due to cons I explained above, but the views and the room was so nice that I decided to give it 5-stars in any case. I hope the hotel would make these issues better in the future. read more
