I cannot say enough great things about my stay at the Premist. From the moment I reached out via email, they were prompt with replies, informative, accommodating, and welcoming.
They arranged the airport transfer, which was wonderful after a long journey from the states. I arrived at the hotel and received a really courteous greeting, explanation of what was nearby, and a map on which all the highlights were noted. They have tea & cookies in the lobby daily, and I arrived in time for a nibble before heading up to my room to relax before starting my adventure the next day. Not long after, they sent a snack & a glass of wine up to my room!
The room, a standard double, was small. I was travelling solo, so there wasn't need for much room, but I can see how two people may find it crowded. It was also adorable. I fell in love online when I saw the rather ostentatious decor. I can stay at a Holiday Inn or a Weston anywhere, but this was unique and ornate and charming. I'd hoped for the one in the photo with the canopy, but mine was nice, too. It was a corner with large windows so I could enjoy the breeze, and the bed was very comfortable.
The breakfast was very nice. Hot items varied day-to-day, from eggs to french toast, though a constant seemed to be cocktail weenies. Cold items included fresh fruit, yogurt, tomatoes (and I swear Turkey has the most wonderful tomatoes!), and a variety of cheeses. There was also granola, dried fruits, and various types of bread and rolls. I lived off fresh fruit, cheese, & tomatoes. I found out my last day I could have had an egg or omelette made, but I was happy with what was out. They also offered tea or coffee, and orange juice. There is an indoor dining area, but the garden is lovely. It's cut off from the road, so quiet. I also discovered the hummingbird hawk moths there, eating from the flowers--interesting critters!
I must also mention that when one of the staff in the breakfast area found out i wasn't feeling well, he brought me mint tea and lemons. I didn't ask for it; he was simply being kind and thoughtful. The entire staff was really wonderful & kind, and not only brilliant in their service, but lovely to speak with.
The location is also excellent. It's about 5 minutes (maybe less) to the Ayasofia. One road--super easy. The Ayasofia is across from the Blue Mosque, and of course Topkapi Palace is right there as well. Great location. To be honest, i never used any transport while there. I walked clear from the hotel to Eminonu to get the ferry. Long walks, but there's so much to see, so why not?
I would certainly go back.
Do note: there are no elevators. But if you have difficulty walking, Istanbul may not be the place for you. Lots of cobblestone and everything is on a hill. read more
