We are lucky that here in California, we have a number of EXTREMELY reputable Shiba Inu breeders. Denise is incredible and one of the best in northern California. Most of the reputable breeders in northern California are members of 'Shiba Fanciers of Northern California'. This is a membership organization that has a code of ethics, regular membership meetings, encourages information sharing and works hard to breed not only for conformation, but for good temperament as well. This is very important starting point for a Shiba which, if followed by early and frequent socialization with other puppies (and desensitized to children, if possible, and exposure to as many people, situations and noises as possible), will create a good 'dog-citizen' who will dumbfound those who expect shibas to hate other dogs, be unpredictable with people, and VERY stand-offish. With Denise, you will get one of the very best handled shibas in the country, you will never regret your decision (as long as you know that this is NOT an easy breed to train due to their incredible intellect (requiring our ingenuity and a LOT of exercise to keep them engaged and happy as they are very adept at problem-solving :-) )

Our family of four, including two…read moreyoung children, really wanted to welcome a wonderful little Golden Retriever as the fifth member of our family. I undertook a significant amount of research on Golden breeders in the extended area, focusing specifically on hobby breeders that had wonderful sir and dam lines that were well documented and highly reviewed. Tammy and Dream Golden Retrievers fit the bill. From the first series of communications, Tammy was awesome. It is so clear that she loves Goldens, and she provided us with a WEALTH of information. Everything from how to prepare our home and children, to the best vet to select, to the best trainers in our area. I can't imagine doing this on our own after having Tammy's support. Visiting the litter it was clear she had such an amazing Mom (Willow) and Dad (Doc) - https://k9data.com/pedigree.asp?ID=1081443. Tammy was very thoughtful in selecting our puppy with our input, and our sweet girl Scout has been wonderful. She is a blast at home, very smart and picks up to training quickly, and even our trainer has told us that she "fell in love" with Scout! We provide a VERY strong recommendation for Tammy and Dream Golden Retrievers!!!!! Some pictures of our beautiful Scout :).

Tammy is professional about her business, as well as knowledgeable, caring and compassionate. She is meticulous in every detail of the process, as well as how she cares for the pups prior to adoption. She is thorough about pup socialization and training, and makes sure that the new family is well informed and supported. We are delighted with our new family member and we are grateful to Tammy for bringing him into the world in the best way possible. Thank you Tammy, for all that you did for us. We have a beautiful, smart and affectionate dog! Sally B.

It was a joy to watch fb videos of the puppies birth and see them grow and develop over the 8+ weeks that Warren and Hillary had them. Going to their home for the puppy visit was fun and we were able to figure out which pup might fit best in our family. Warren and Hillary were great puppy raisers-taking the time to address social, neurological and physical needs of each pup. We were very happy with our experience working with them...and our lives are much more lively with Hobie in our family

Amazing experience from first contact!! I am a passionate dog rescuer. I have rescued countless (in…read morethe hundreds) of dogs from high kill Bay Area shelters over the past couple of decades. I even founded and ran my own rescue organization many years ago (Tails of Love), and my focus was rescuing the dogs who were dumped and then overlooked by adopters and other rescues (DOGS: Discarded and Overlooked Get Saved). Now I have a gifted child who is also neurodivergent and has significant sensory processing issues, OCD, and accompanying severe anxiety. I needed an "ideal" dog to train as a service dog, and since he will eventually be in school with her for many years, he has to be a low-shedding breed. I looked and looked in my networks and couldn't find a suitable candidate. I finally turned to RW&D, and I cannot find the words to adequately express what a dream our whole experience has been!!! Our tiny puppy is perfect, and already great with the potty training. We can't wait to start our service dog training when little Griffin (formerly San Luis Obispo from the Surf's Up litter) is old enough. I still believe wholeheartedly in adopting from shelters or rescues, but this experience opened my mind. Sometimes there's a need to buy, and if you are going that route, do not look further. Even if you have to wait, it's worth it! Hillarie and Warren are amazing. Take it from me. I rail and rage against the endless backyard breeders, and I can confidently state that this is not a backyard breeder. This is ethical, extremely conscientious and passionate breeding!

I submitted an online application asking for a smaller dog and my preference for a poodle mix. They responded within a couple of days, as I recall, and asked a few more questions. After a few days, they contacted me with a possible match, explaining he was a senior poodle mix with a few medical issues. They work closely with Hitchcock Animal Services (county shelter) and had several dogs that had issues and needed a rescue with a strong foster program. They brought "Bernie" over, and I became a foster mom with full support from AFRP. They provided guidance and everything from beds/blankets to toys and even food! They provided the vet services to help Bernie be the best dog he could be. They invited me to various events (and even a TV spot!) to show off Bernie but unfortunately dogs with medical issues can be a little harder to get adopted. So after six months, I fell in love and became a "foster win" and adopted him. To this day, AFRP considers me part of their alumni family and invites me to activities such as local parades or fun events. They have a variety of dogs and cats, young to old, healthy to some having medical challenges, and work hand-in-hand with several shelters to help find fosters and ultimately final homes! I found their offices to be clean and functional, although if they were bigger, they could help more animals. I use Yelp frequently and know I make decisions based on reviews. I wanted to provide a positive and more recent outcome than some older comments which I feel are no longer applicable. The last note I will make is that as of 2024, they have new executive and support staff who are fantastic. So please consider discovering this great local rescue organization. AFRP have been around for a while but today, I find they are an excellent organization always improving on their processes and staff. So please GO FOSTER! It's fun, rewarding, and inexpensive. You get lots of love in return.
