Wine bar inside Fred Segal at Malibu Country Mart. Nice selection of Santa Barbara county wines.

If you happen to find yourself in Malibu and are looking for the perfect place to enjoy some sunshine and wine, look no further than Summer Somewhere Wines. Located in the back of Fred Segal, there is a small tasting bar (5 seats) and a few small tables located on the adjacent patio. You can make a reservation on their website via Tock, or stop in if they aren't too busy. A reservation allows you to get a glass of wine, share a bottle, or enjoy a tasting. During my visit, I opted for the Surf Rider Tasting ($34), which came with generous pours of two Rosé, a Grüner Veltliner, a Sauvignon Blanc, and the L'orange. My favorites were the Santa Ynez Valley Rosé & Grüner Veltliner. Both are perfect for a summer day. The Rosé is produced in the Provence style. The tasting glasses are also pretty beautiful and available for purchase. I hadn't intended to spend as much time here as I did, but I genuinely enjoyed chatting with the hosts. Both were incredibly welcoming and kind. We seemed to have a lot in common and I think that's mostly because they sought common ground and really worked to get to know me beyond a basic level. Also, Summer Somewhere Wines are able to ship wines to almost all states if you're here playing tourist. There has been excellent communication about the shipping process with lots of emails letting me know about when to expect it. During my visit, I also learned a lot about this family operated business. The wine maker & founder is the husband of the Summer Somewhere clothing line founder. The winery started when his wife asked him to make a wine for an event she was having. They purchase grapes mostly from Santa Ynez. Another fun insight I gained during my visit was about the bottles behind the tasting bar. They look like white wines, but are actually rosé. The sun has changed the color over time, so now they are just for decoration.

Super random winery in Malibu. They share space with a Fred Segal? Anyway, wines are okay. Nothing to rave about. The worker was definitely very knowledgeable of their product so props to her. Not a traditional wine tasting place as they don't even rise the glasses for you.

Summer Somewhere Wines is a very small wine shop near PCH in Malibu. It's located inside the Fred Segal store but offers wine tastings. The brand is family-owned consisting of a seasoned wine maker husband and an artist wife that make their wines in Santa Barbara County. They have different types of wine tastings including whites, reds, and a mixture. We got the surfrider tasting ($30) which included 4 of their white wine offerings. The staff was very friendly and it was a good place for an afternoon wine tasting.

This tasting room is adorable! It's inside of Fred Segal but has a little patio. I did the surf rider tasting and I liked all the wines except the orange wine. The service is great too.

Yes, yes, yes...! Endless summer in SoCal has arrived, courtesy of a highly talented central coast vitner! There's really nothing not to love about this brand. Their branding is on point. Their location is prime, nestled into a Fred Segal no less, in the Cross Creek shopping center in Malibu. Sip and shop is forever an option here. It's indoor/outdoor layout is breezy all year round. And their staff are like the icing on the cake. They make you feel welcome! I used to frequently wine taste in Santa Ynez and just love the wine produced there. But we don't make it up nearly as often and having our favorites accessible here is the best of both worlds. I hope you'll give them a try! You will not be disappointed

Perfect afternoon tasting in Malibu! A group of 3 of us decided to give Summer Somewhere Wines a try and couldn't have been happier! We were able to walk up without having g a prior reservation on a Sunday afternoon. The two ladies were absolutely fabulous and made the experience even better! They were so positive, happy, and very knowledgeable about the wines. They helped us pick the right tasting according to our preferred choices and liking. One thing I would like to note is that this isn't a tasting in an actual winery or in a barrel room. You are seated right outside in the middle of the shopping center. It's a perfect location that allows you to start your day with breakfast, do some shopping, and end the day with a tasting! I would like to start by saying I am NOT a wine connoisseur. I have been broadening my scope of wine tasting. The wines were quite delicious as they all had a unique taste and flavor. We tried the surf rider tasting and the Zumba tasting. I did not like the reds as they tasted too much like wine - again not an avid wine drinker. I was pleasantly surprised with the rosés, though! I enjoyed them all and decided to try the 2021 L'orange. I highly recommend if you enjoy a lighter wine! Overall, I really enjoyed my experience and I hope to be back!

Great vibes and great wine! Can't wait to come back. It was my first time in a Fred Segal the store was beautiful. I bought a bottle of wine and I love that it's organic but still earthy and fruity.

This is a very small establishment inside of Fred Segel. We returned to try out the wines for the new season, and they were all delicious! We did two wine tastings to compare the older wines to the new ones, and it was a very pleasant experience. All the decor is modern and simple. Service has always been outstanding! We will return again soon!

Had a wonderful time in Malibu at Summer Somewhere tasting room. Cambria, our hostess, was knowledgeable, professional, and friendly. The wines were delicious. A cute little place to do a tasting or enjoy a glass of wine on their patio

What a great spontaneous wine tasting in beautiful Malibu! We tasted Sauvignon Blanc, rose, Pinot noir and more. Each was delicious and the service was superb! Make this your go to beach tasting! Take some to the beach and some home!

You have to stop and have a glass ! Or two or maybe just the tasting session.

If you are in the area you have to stop and have a taste, we had such an amazing experience.. Marine was super warm and friendly with our tour. It was so hard to just pick a few bottles to take home. Definitely will be going back in the future to re-supply on the selection. The atmosphere is very relaxing and lay back. Cheers !

So excited that this new tasting room opened in the Fred Segal store in the Malibu Country Mart! The wines are absolutely delicious, I loved every single varietal, and the packaging is adorable. I loved the beachy relaxed vibe of the store and the the staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. I appreciated that they were very COVID safe as well, staff all in masks, tables nicely spaced out outside, and hand sanitizer widely available, I felt very comfortable. Also, Free Parking right out front, which is amazing! Just go right inside the Fred Segal store and the tasting room is in the left corner, hard to miss! Next time you are in Malibu definitely check it this place out, I'm definitely considering one of their wine club memberships for next time :)

I found that a lot of the other wineries in Malibu charged to book the reservation and most charged $20-25 for parking, so the free parking alone made me jump to book this place. I didn't want all of my friends to have to drive such a long way AND pay for parking! The space is different than what the old Rosenthal winery used to be, but it's actually more intimate and nicer! Apparently this is where they used to host VIPs before the fire, so it feels like a more exclusive space. The entrance feels quite sudden and easy to miss while driving, but you enter a small driveway after confirming the reservation name with the guard, and then drive along a beautiful road until you hit the entrance. Such a beautiful drive in! There were tables set up for everyone and it's not overly crowded which is nice. They even had live music (they were great!). They had a pretty decent wine list, whites, reds, roses, sweet, bubbly, but no non-alcoholic wines for those curious. They don't serve any food which feels like a bummer at first, but they do allow you to bring any and all food and non-alcoholic beverages you want. So it's essentially like a picnic but at a nice winery. We had plenty of snacks and bites so we were just fine, and they were ok with my bottle of non-alcoholic bubbly wine. We had a great time here! Perfect for celebrations! They still have their fun big blue wooden chair too which is perfect for pics.

NOTE: 20% gratuity added to all parties of 6 of more. WINE: Carly poured for us and the service was excellent. However, on the day we visited, they were super busy and understaffed, so they were only offering wines by-the-glass and bottles, no tasting flights. Lots of varietals to choose from. We felt that the wines were well-made and "okay", but others really enjoyed them. As I always say, wine tasting is very subjective to an individual's palate, so you should give them a try for yourselves. We ordered glasses of their NV Surfrider Sparkling Moscato ($18), a 2020 RME Chardonnay ($18), a 2020 Petite Verdot ($20), and a 2018 Block M Cabernet Sauvignon ($25). I felt that the prices for the glasses were a little on the high side, but the pours were generous. We ended up purchasing a bottle of their 2020 G Petit Verdot ($53) to take home. Overall, we enjoyed the live music from Ocean Park Sound System (a 70's funk band) and some nice estate and sourced fruit wines. Would recommend that you check them out if you're looking for a pleasant wine experience.
