Once you come to Summer's Mill, it's hard to go anywhere else. This is an incredibly beautiful and well maintained retreat center near Belton TX. I took a two day personal retreat here, and the service staff was so kind and courteous and beyond helpful. They connected me with jogging trail maps, things to do, and a map of the facility. And MC3 Catering also went far beyond expectations to allow me to be added onto their meals that they were serving for larger groups (thank you Willie and Jeremy). Their fried chicken is just glorious. The views here absolutely stunning. Whether you are on the 2 mile red trail and taking in the breathtaking views of the hills and prairies, or whether you head under the bridge to get close to the waterfall, you will have an amazingly restful experience. You can also see deer, elk, donkeys, and cattle up close. The amenities are great. I stayed in the Lone Star cabin which was clean, spacious, fully equipped with a full kitchen, comfy seating spaces, and a large stone bathroom with a tub and walk in shower (for two). There is also rocking chairs inside and outside for your maximum relaxation. Everything you need is labeled well. You can also visit the Coca Cola rec room and the Roadrunner fitness center, which had plenty of solid equipment for the workout enthusiast. I cannot wait to bring my family back here! We have been using Summers Mill Retreat and Conference Center for the past 3 years on a consistent basis to hold our training and workshop events, and it's always been a great experience. It is very quiet and peaceful out here and presents the perfect opportunity and environment to help team members focus and collaborate without the stress and disruptions which they're are used to dealing with in a daily basis back at the office. The staff has always been extremely helpful and professional, they are eager to please and have always met our needs - which is a big reason why we like them so much - they work with us and want to exceed expectations. When we were having connectivity issues (wi-fi) the staff installed an additional wireless router in the building to ensure we had ample coverage. Since some of our training events have expanded, they added another projector and screen to help w/ the overflow. The chairs they initially set up for us had no cushion (hard seats) which resulted in some back and body aches if they sat for long periods of time, the staff went out and replaced them with cushioned seats that were well padded and comfortable. Now we have happy backs n' butts! We frequently have to do a lot of arranging and set up with the tables and chairs for our learning sessions, the Summer's Mill staff offered to help us with the set-up the night before so everything is ready the next day - - and that saves us a lot of time. There is plenty of space here to facilitate our groups, which can range from 35 to 60 people at any given time, and they have all the tech stuff we need such as: projectors, 2 screens, sound system, lighting, dry erase boards, and room dividers. The catering company they use here is awesome, we always get high remarks on the food. The kitchen staff consistently caters to our needs and not is the food high quality, but so is their service - always accommodating and responsive. They also have a Chapel and extensive workout facility with enough machines that would make Olivia Newton John happy. There's a lot of available room and boarding which has always been clean and well kept. The sizes range from single rooms to lodges big enough to support a large family. There are several hiking trails and a plethora of land surrounding the area, we've taken lunch breaks and walked to feed the goats and various livestock - and you can get up close and personal with them! Last I saw they had a large Longhorn, some Bison, cows, goats, sheep dogs, donkeys, and more! In the 3 years we've been here (on a monthly basis) we've also seen various events held here such as: weddings, birthday parties, family reunions, and an annual BBQ outing which always makes the place smell great. There really isn't anything about this place I don't like, it's quiet and peaceful and almost like an oasis away from the daily chaos and stress. It's a retreat in all senses of the word and is so relaxing and chill. Some people have good cell signal, however, I find a few pockets of cell coverage (Sprint) which ends up being fine with me since I'd rather not be on conference calls or disrupted when I'm out here, because that would defeat the purpose of it being a retreat and place to max and relax! read more

A great place for a family get away or even church group. We stayed there recently and we couldn't ask for anything better. The price was reasonable. We had spacious rooms. The manager and employees were very friendly and were ready to make us feel welcome in every way. We lacked nothing. I wanted to cook meals for my family and they had everything I needed plus, to our surprise, provided a cooler full of ice. The adults and teens enjoyed playing pool and ping pong in their game room. They have a baseball field and volleyball court we could use as well. We didn't try the exercise room but it was available. The small church is a must see on the property. We had our family pictures taken in the pecan orchard by the river. Our granddaughter had her senior pictures taken there. I grew up in the Belton/Temple area, passed this place many times, and always wanted to check it out. Well, we would go back in a heart beat. Our "littles" thoroughly enjoyed seeing the animals while our guys enjoyed seeing the elk. At one time this place was an ostrich farm. They are turning it into a jewel. It would be a beautiful place for a wedding, reunion( as ours was), church groups, business conference,etc. read more

The facilities here are great! I stayed in the Bluebonnet lodge, and the rooms had bedding, towels, and shampoo/body wash. The location is very clean, and there were many things to do. I especially liked the Coca-Cola themed recreation room with ping pong, foosball, and billiards. Wifi is available and fast. The only issue we had was a leak from the bathroom in the Yellow Rose building. The water covered a significant portion of the large room, and we needed to leave the building for it to be cleaned up. It was dealt with quickly though, so props for that. A great getaway location for retreats! read more

I had the privilege of staying at the Longhorn House on this property during a recent conference. This facility is quaint, country, and sweet! The grounds are extensive, yet accommodations are all within walking distance of the conference center. There are a great deal of amenities available at the Mill, but we had days crammed with conferencing, that we were unable to take advantage of them. tI would have been nice to ride bikes (provided) use the fitness room, or visit the exotic animals. Perhaps conferences held iin the summer are better because there would be more available dailight. I would definitely love to return here! The one downside, it is an alcohol free facility. Evening cocktails were a no-no :-( read more

My last email to Summers Mill. "Canceling is not our first choice, but with this pandemic, it's our only choice to keep our family safe. I am saddened and disappointed at the unwillingness of Summers Mill to work with us as this unparalleled pandemic has befallen our nation. As I ponder Summers Mill's vision - to become a leading Christian retreat and conference facility in Texas, I am further disheartened at this resolution. We cherish relationships and trust in the Christian faith posted on your website. Unfortunately, your actions undermine those values. I was not expecting this resolution given your mission and core values. This is highly unfortunate given our history with the property and the conditions with the pandemic. Texas families are coping with the financial loss of the economic downturn. The Cortez family is no exception. Hard-working family money for $3,100 is what Summers Mill has taken under the guise of "business as usual." As an unprecedented pandemic is in our midst, this decision has made it clear where the values of those in leadership at Summers Mill stand. I will never be able to reconcile profits over human life, but that is not my call. You all have made very clear that it is yours. In that vein, a check from the Cortez Family Reunion will be sent to satisfy Summer's Mill business as usual policy. The unwillingness to work through this will bankrupt our reunion fund. But we trust in the Lord that this set back will come back to us in His time. May God have mercy on the souls of those who've made this decision. Please cancel any and all agreements the Cortez Family has signed with Summers Mill. We will take our business elsewhere. And Leah, I am sorry our communication exchange is under these circumstances, but I am not surprised, as the Cortez Family Reunion at your property has outlived many in your position. We recently had our family reunion at the Summers Mill Conference Center, Bluebonnet Lodge. It's a great getaway. There are several different size cabins on the property depending on your group need. They have full kitchens if you wanna cook for your group, or you can have catering come in. Each "cabin" has several rooms like a motel; very clean, two beds and a tv in each suite. There's a nice game room, beside a basketball and volleyball court, that's decorated with Coca Cola pieces..and a replica of an old time church, really cute. The land around it has some cool animals; elk, exotic deer, ostrich, bison, donkeys, baby goats. You can drive around it or take a healthy walk. The highlight of the place for me is a relaxing swim to cool off in the Salado Creek. read more

What at Belton gem!!! Our family used Summer's Mill a few summers ago as our family reunion location. We were able to all be together at one location that was clean and comfortable for all ages. The rooms are large and the catered meals were delicious! From the time be booked until our reunion ended the staff and catering staff took great care in making sure our reunion was a success! How bad was this place??? Where do I start. There is a catering service available only if you are with a group. Other meals are a long drive into Belton. There is absolutely nothing to do there if you are not conferencing. Nothing to eat, no snacks, no vending. They have a walking "trail" but it turns out to be a gravel road which used to service the area. Their "exotic animals" consist of a Buffalo Longhorn and a Donkey. The most appalling thing is there is no routine maid service until you leave. I was here for 4 days, and they did not replace towels, change sheets/make the bed, or empty the trash. I inquired about it, and they said this was routine. Luckily there were 6 TV channels. At least it was better than none... It was worse than I've already explained, but I don't have time to elaborate. I would not recommend this place for a vacation unless isolation is the goal. And make sure you bring snacks and drinks. read more

Pretty setting, but our beds were a bit uncomfortable. We were there with a large group for a family reunion, and when a problem arose with our arrangements, the staff were very unhelpful. I would even say rude. Give this one a miss! read more
