What a hidden jewel! The beautifully spacious kitchen hosts cooking classes and the large table invites new friendships. The HAND PAINTED floors in the hall and rooms is incredibly endearing. We were greeted with fresh baked cookies and breakfast was Luxurious! Thr garlic and cheese grits have changed my life - I had to restrain myself from licking the bowl . I don't even know where to begin! From the start to finish of our event hosted in the Red Barn, Sara (owner and manager) was hands on and super communicative with me. She provided such DELICIOUS food for our shower, constantly asked what she could do for us and built a gorgeous location for our intimate party. All of the out of towners AND locals asked about The Yellow House for their own events! I highly recommend you host your next party here, whether it's a shower, wedding, anniversary party...this place has the perfect set up. I rented the Yellow House property for my wedding weekend so that the family and the wedding party could be co-located and have a relaxing weekend. The experience at the Yellow House convinced all of my family and the wedding party staying in the cottages and houses to look for bed and breakfasts over hotels and Air bnbs in the future. Everyone loved how comfortable their stay was. To start, the check in and check out process was headache free, easy and Sara was easy to communicate and work with. This is a great location as a quiet get away and/or as a venue for a special occasion. At the Yellow House, the experience was phenomenal and the care that Sara provided was evident in the attention to details. The beds were clean and comfortable. There were so many chairs to lounge in within the rooms, patios, and under the cooling shades of the trees. The fridge was stocked with complimentary drinks and delicious, freshly baked cookies were delivered daily. Make-up specific towels and ample make-up removal towel wipes were provided. Provided soaps/shampoos/etc were wonderful and there was also dish soap and provided new scrub to use for dishes. The decor and charm of each room showed character that impressed the youngest and oldest of the guests, especially our social media loving teens. All were so impressed with the fresh cooked breakfast. It was so delicious! Our favorite was the Yellow House Breakfast Pie.... I broke my diet with that dish. There was an abundance of food delivered and everything made us want seconds. There was still food left over even after our second helping. I'd stay again just to enjoy the yummy breakfast. I would absolutely stay at the Yellow House again and I appreciate everything Sara and her staff did for my family and friends during our stay. I just returned from a long weekend with 8 of my dearest friends. Many of us had not been to Salado and were quite surprised at the quaint town, shopping and restaurants. However, nothing was more perfect than our lodging at the down home "Yellow House B&B". We elected to stay in the actual yellow farmhouse. Each room had its own bath. I stayed in "the pink room" and it was adorable. It had two queen beds, ceiling fan and individual a/c that kept our room a perfect temp. We stayed up late visiting while rocking on the front porch or we would stay up working on an incredibly hard puzzle. Lol. The wonderful thing about staying at a b&b is the delight of waking up to coffee and breakfast. The owners of "the yellow house" presented us with a fabulous breakfast each morning along with juice, assorted coffees and creamers. The first afternoon there was a fresh lemon blueberry pound cake and we quickly learned there would be a sweet item waiting for us upon our return each afternoon. Our hosts and owners, Sarah and James, could not have been more delightful. We thoroughly enjoyed visting with them and look forward to our deturn. read more

I've stayed twice at Yellow House and both times were a delight. The Green Cottage is beautiful, comfortable, and perfect for a couples' getaway. The first time we stayed in the cottage, the air conditioning unit was malfunctioning. The second time we stayed, I thought the cottage was unavailable so I reserved a different room for us in the main house. In the intervening months, the hosts had replaced the a/c and remembered that it had been an issue on our first visit, so they arranged for us to stay in the Green Cottage again instead. What a thoughtful treat! Upgrades are always a wonderful way to be greeted upon arrival! The food at Yellow House is delicious and our hosts were very kindly accommodating of dietary restrictions (gluten-free blondies dropped off at the doorstep for afternoon snack, yum!). Presentation is also lovely; anniversary weekends are that much better when breakfast comes in a heart-shaped picnic basket. The location is situated between Austin and Waco with easy access from I-35, making it a great home base for exploring the area. The village of Salado is very sweet; try a picnic or walk by the creek in the evening, and explore the ruins of Salado College. Try Alexander's for a romantic dinner, especially the wonderful prix fixe specials on Tuesday evenings. read more

What an absolutely delightful B & B! We stayed in the "Green Cottage." Cozy and comfortable with a little kitchenette and refrigerator stocked with water and sodas. A freshly baked snack was delivered every afternoon and breakfast was delivered to our door in a sweet heart shaped basket. The food was delicious and our privacy totally respected. Easy 5 minute drive to downtown Salado. Highly recommend for a comfy, cozy stay. read more

We were in the area for some R & R during bluebonnet season and I found the Yellow House on Trip Advisor.com. The reviews are stellar so I gave them a call. We were fortunate to be able to get one of their cottages for a weekend of fairly short notice due to a cancellation. We took the Green Cottage and it was so lovely, cozy and very private. Perfect for some relaxation! The property is about 5 scenic minutes from Main Street Salado and an easy drive. You enter a gated 'compound' of sorts with the owners home, a 5 suite area on the back of their home, and then 2 cottages and 2 homes, each of which were vintage homes that were disassembled and moved on to their property and lovingly restored to high standards. Each cottage or house is beautifully decorated, ours in black and white Waverly toile fabrics. Each unit is furnished with quality furniture and very high end linens, etc. The property is very well manicured and well cared for by the owners, Cathy and Brian. We drove in to the property on a Friday afternoon and Cathy came out to greet us. She showed us to the cottage and gave us an orientation inclusive of WiFi instructions and how to use the Sat TV. She said she would be back in a few minutes, and sure enough, she had hot from the oven zucchini bread. That was perfect with my afternoon tea from their heavily stocked tray of coffees/teas for the in room Kuerig system. The fridge was stocked with soft drinks and waters as well (and not just one bottle, it was packed full!) Later we met Brian and he, too, was as cordial and hospitable as you can be! We got a full history on the property and how they have grown it with the cottages and houses. The newest house will be ready in a week and it was an old farmhouse, now restored to the very highest of standards, inclusive of a full gourmet kitchen. (our next stay!!) We arrived early enough that we were able to inspect all but the pink house as it was occupied and were both totally impressed again by the quality of furnishings, comfort level and care and attention to detail. We left after two days and our next hotel (a major mid to high end hotel chain) was such a let down after this visit. The first thing my husband said, you aren't going to like the bath towels (after the thick bleached white towels we had in our cottage - we were totally spoiled!) Cathy and Brian really have the hospitality thing down to a science. They are attentive but not intrusive. There is a note upon arrival saying we do not want to bother you nor enter your room/cottage but here is our number for anything you may need during your stay. I don't want to forget a real highlight for me in particular. At 9am each morning, we got a soft knock at the door and a lovely heart shaped wicker basket was placed outside our door. It contained the breakfast of the day, first day, AMAZING amaretto baked French toast with a fresh blackberry warm topping, fresh fruit bowl, hot syrup and super crispy thick bacon. Second day a baked breakfast pie, homemade biscuits, fruit and honey from their own on property happy Yellow House bees!!! If you want a quiet, lovely, peaceful non-intrusive but attentive B & B experience, this is for you! Cathy and Brian, thank you again for allowing us time to melt down! WE visited for 3 days, and filled all beds in all houses with family (over 2 dozen folks) for the Jack and Chris Lanman 50th anniversary celebration weekend!! Friday night was a taco bar at the Blue House, prepared by Jack and Chris, then a great time around the fire at the main house -- Saturday night, family, and friends from Salado and points west/east/south/etc -, gathered on the spacious grounds - the pinnacle event was a buffet and giant cakes in the barn, with tables inside and out for guests - plus a free bar outside, with Texas beer, and wine!! PLUS great Texas country music, set up outside the barn, under some of the many huge trees on the property... The food was prepared by Sarah and James, of the Yellow House, and was a huge hit with everyone! WE can't say enough about the varied and special and detailed services so enthusiastically given by Mickey, Jack, and Sarah, of Yellow House B & B! Several of our crew had special needs diets, and they filled the orders to a T! the Breakfast each morning was yoghurt, fruit, baked egg cassarole, muffins, and terrific grits of many styles! The Keurig coffeemaker was stocked with over 20 flavors of tea and coffee -- The property is amazing! 3 miles off Interstate 35W, 2 miles from Salado, less than 20 minutes to Round Rock and Georgetown, -- it couldn't be more accessible, yet was a quiet and serene hub for all the families to tour and vacation - downtown Salado is friendly, and has several wineries and brewpubs, plus art galleries and antiques/collectibles stores - and many fine place to eat! I had the good fortune of staying at the Yellow House Bed & Breakfast this weekend when I traveled to TX for a friend's military retirement. I was arriving late due to flight delays, and James and Sara made a point of making sure I was en route and not having any problems as I drove in from Austin. Upon arrival, James carried my bag from my car to the room, gave me a quick tour and let me know they were available at ANY time should I need them. They even found me a feather pillow!! I settled into my cozy room in the main house, the king sized bed was very comfortable and the sheets/pillowcases were crisply ironed -- I loved it!! I wasn't able to join the guests the next morning as I had to leave early for the ceremony at the Post -- and after eating their breakfast this morning, holy cow do I regret THAT decision!! My friends held their retirement party in the barn on property that evening. It was amazing! All of the charm and warmth of a country setting, accompanied by fabulous food and modern conveniences. A good time was had by all!! This morning I had the absolute pleasure of the breakfast offered by Sara and James. Everything was outstanding, but the peach bread pudding was heavenly -- a lot of love went into that pan -- yummmmm. Sarah even made sure they had English breakfast tea for me. I can't say enough about James and Sara. They took over the Yellow House B&B about a year ago and I see nothing but bright things in their future!! Thanks for some overdue R&R read more

The innkeepers went out of their way to make sure that my family and I had a wonderful experience and they went above and beyond to help with the surprise party for my mom and brother at the barn. We spent 2 nights here in the quiet of the Texas hill country. It's close enough to drive into Austin for more activity, too. The town of Salada has cute shops, antiques, and good restaurants. Yellow House is very comfortable with rooms and cabins. We stayed in a room in the main house. The king sized bed had a Tempurpedic mattress and luxurious sheets. Towels in the private bath are also top quality. Breakfasts are included and are delicious. The gracious owners are on-site to make sure all is well. If you're traveling between Waco and Austin, don't waste time at a chain hotel stay at Yellow House! read more

I went on an annual weekend getaway with a group of ladies that have been lifelong friends. Through the years we have stayed at several Bed and Breakfasts, but the Yellow House was the most amazing! Rooms in the main house and several separate small cabins and old houses have been updated and decked out in vintage decor. If you go as a family you can have your own little house and if you go with a large group, the gathering spaces and kitchens are ideal. And, I can't say enough wonderful things about Sara and James, the owners and innkeepers! Very attentive without being in the way. Sara has studied at a culinary school and the food we were served in the large cook's table style kitchen and dining room was outstanding! Definitely not your typical boring fruit and pastry B & B fare! Croissant strawberry bread pudding for breakfast one morning with Mimosas. We also had dinner there one night with several courses including beef or pork tenderloin and wine and loved it as much as any fine restaurant. Whether you are a couple, a family or a larger group, this charming Salado getaway is perfect for everyone! We plan to go back next year! read more

This is my first time at a bed and breakfast place. Didn't really know what to expect. But this was an excellent first time! The owners are so friendly and accommodating, and tries to make sure the stay is wonderful. We couldn't stay for breakfast the next day so they brought over extra snacks and brownies once we got settled. The kitchenette is well stocked, especially if you are a coffee drinker. The room is very charming. And the best part for me, very clean!! Excellent stay at an excellent bed and breakfast! read more

Our group has been coming to this little gem for 6 years. The hospitality shown by Cathy and Brian is second to none. They are a joy to talk to. They take pride in the B&B and it shows. Each room/cottage has a different theme that will blow you away. The beds are extremely comfortable. The breakfast...ahhh the breakfast... is AMAZING! I love hoe every little detail has been thought out - from the napkin holder, to the heart shaped apple pieces in the fruit, to the freshly harvested honey from the bees on the property. I am a true city girl, but will continue to come to this country gem. read more
