I have been a member of this credit union since 1987 when they were Commonwealth Credit Union. In my opinion, over the last 5 years they have switched from being about the Members to being singularly about profit.
I have a very good credit score and over 25 years of checking and loan history here. At least I think so and the other banks I talked to thought so. My most recent loan experience taught me that it no longer means anything. I was offered a better rate and terms by almost every bank I talked to. They were happy what they saw and were eager to earn by business. When I went back to SCU with this, they pretty much said take it or leave it. I don't know how else to interpret this other than they are no longer interested in the relationship. I Always price checked on my loans over the years and SCU in the past has at least made sure they were in line with other LOCAL institutions. Sometimes they were better, but at least they were reasonable close or matched. This time they were way out there and there was no one to talk to or at least no one who listened
The final straw for me is the new online banking system. I have 10+ different accounts with SCU. Prior to the new implementation, it made my life easy. The integration was seamless. The automation was flexible and extremely reliable. The new system has destroyed that ability. Its like a group of people sat around thinking about how to make it as difficult as possible for me to get anything done. Obviously it did not happen like that, but is equally obvious that was little consideration given to usability from the advanced consumer perspective.
Its sad to say, but I have moved on to a new bank after 25 years. read more
