I have been using Summit for over 20 years. Let's be honest, NO ONE loves going to the dentist, but Dr Harvey and his team have always made it a positive experience for me! Dr Harvey is so kind and gentle in his approach...and SO effective! He's done some pretty tricky crowns for me in the past and they are still in good shape to this day! I would agree that they can be a bit pricey, but you get what you pay for, right? Being that I'm not a super fan of going to the dentist (more of an evil necessity), I'd rather pay a bit more for excellent care that cheaper crummy care that's only going to lead to more problems down the road. Only come here if you know exactly what your insurance covers and need to get a quick cleaning They will assume you want an out of pocket service like fluoride treatment or a new set of X-rays without informing you that you will have to pay. I had to tell them no twice in the same visit. Even when confronted about how odd of practice that is they state they know what's best. Apparently making sure clients know what they consent to is not what they consider "best." Also get a second opinion before opting into procedures they recommend. The entire experience drips of them wanting your money. It's a shame, the people seem nice, however I will not be going back. read more

I don't know what happened to this practice in the last 5 years, but to say that they are now the worst is an understatement and I am a long time patient (20+ years) that will NEVER go back. 1 star is too generous. The customer service is horrible (the dentists WILL argue with you if you try to advocate for yourself and deny a service you don't think you need), the billing is never accurate, they charge for services you do not receive, and no one answers the phone in their billing department. Instances like the dentist not being in are common- I had a dental cleaning and exam at the beginning of the year only to be told after the cleaning that dentist was not in yet and I could wait an hour or skip the exam. What? This office is just a complete mess - all around. Do yourself a favor and stay away. read more

I absolutely love this place and their staff! They're so friendly, amazing customer service! I love my doc. And they have multiple docs there, so there is always someone in the office during their open times. They even have specialists that come to their office so you don't have to get a referral to see a specialist, ie periodontist. They are helpful and professional. They are straight shooters and don't try to make a quick buck on unnecessary procedures. They give welcome goodies and handwritten thank you cards. Amazing!!!! Very modern equipment. This place was a little too nice for a dentist. I felt like I was at a day spa. I went for a cleaning and exam and 1 1/2 hours later had no cleaning and a ridiculous estimate for teeth problems that I didn't really have. A second opinion confirmed they made up a lot of serious issues with my teeth. $3000 vs. $230. I would not recommend this place. They are deceptive. read more

I rarely leave bad reviews. but I think this one is probably necessary... First off, the way the whole practice is open is rather off putting. Hearing loud and clear other patients treatment and crying children is not the most calming experience. I would let that slide, but the treatment I received was sub par. After being referred here from the orthodontist practice across the street, I am reconsidering the whole process. I want to get braces to straighten up my smile. This ortho was the first place I went to after popping up first on a google search. They sent me here for a dental exam before starting. Gave me a cleaning which I was told would be free, but turned out not to be. All good. Then said I would need to have a crown replaced, and several fillings put in before starting ortho treatment... I had no pain or problems with any existing dental work I currently had, but I figured they knew better. I agreed. Came back to get my existing crown removed, and then replaced. The dentist removed it, and scanned the area to make a new crown. They couldnt get the scans perfect and had to re-take them several times. It was rather uncomfortable as I could tell they were losing their composure and repeatedly told me this case was specifically more troublesome than the typical case. I understand that, but repeating it several times seems very unprofessional, and made us all uncomfortable. That would be better left unsaid until the procedure was complete to reduce the anxiety in all parties. The temp they put on made my gum swell and caused much pain that was not present before... Eventually returned for the permanent crown, and had an even worse experience. First I was shuffled into the chair by a lady who couldnt speak english. Maybe a few words. It seems she was mostly communicating in sign language. Not a problem, and I should probably be practiced in sign language, but the language barrier is challenging regardless. Then surprisingly met by a different dentist from the original procedure (who suggested I do not use any numbing agent btw, which I had to insist against) By the end of procedure, the 4th person they called in to work on me said "its a good thing they numbed you for this one" I think I had a better idea how it was about to go than the operators did.. The dentist walked away, and left the original assistant to do the work. Being that we could not communicate fluently, she would try to give me instructions that were difficult to comply with. I patiently worked with her, nervous of what to expect. After taking the temp crown out, she could not get the crown in, so she summoned the dentist. Who then informed me that the crown was not formed properly and we might not be able to get it on. She said we would try a few more times, and if it did not work, we need to reassess and build a new strategy... Several modifications were made, and then two other dentists were called in to finish the job. Again during the process, I was repeatedly told how this was a worse than usual case by 2 of the 4 operators as they apologized. Which did not help me feel any more calm in an already stressful situation. Them repeatedly saying that made them seem like ameteurs in a situation where you would be hoping for seasoned professionals. Wait to say all of that until the job is complete. Not during the procedure. After the crown was in, and the cement was distributed, the remaining operator had a heck of a time clearing the excess. Then we scheduled a time to come back for more fillings that were supposed to get done that same day, but could not because this ended up taking almost 2 hours. Worst of all, I walked out immediately thinking this work will have to be undone and redone over again. For something that probably didnt need to be done in the first place. I canceled that appointment today with intent to go to my favorite dentist back home in Chicago for his opinion. After reading these reviews im beginning to think I was just taken for a nice expensive ride with this practice. I will come back and update this after I get another check up elsewhere. read more

If you want the worst cleaning of your life, robbed of all your money and have your dental care done on a training level of experience, this is the office for you! They have a robust amount of turnover in the front and back. The main doctor hardly works and just micromanages his team because he cannot figure out how to successfully run a business! Check all your receipts because the person checking you has probably only been there under a year. The doctor is creepy and weird and very uncomfortable to be around. If you are still unsure about the opportunity to visit this unstable unreliable office, just sort through the rest of these reviews. The one stars date back to when they first opened. Watch out for the constant up-sell. It's unrelenting. After charging me $265 for x-rays, the hygienist told me she could not "ethically" provide a standard cleaning, but she could provide a "deep cleaning" at a higher price. I said "let's do the standard cleaning and watch how things progress. If nothing changes in 6 months we can re-evaluate". She refused to proceed unless I selected the higher priced cleaning. I left, wasting two hours of my time and out $265 with nothing to show for it. Additionally, notice on their forms they always request you to "consent to the use of fluoride" without saying what this request is about. They don't mention it in the forms but this request for consent is just one more attempt at an up-charge without telling you so. read more

Was incorrectly told that a service was covered by my insurance, so I agreed to undergo that service. I was then sent a bill with NO details as to what the bill was for, after I had closed out payment with them. Will not be returning, and do not recommend for others who do not like being surprised by expensive bills with no breakdown. read more

I have been going here for several years and have always been impressed with the service and demeanor of the staff. Having had a dentist in my family, I am usually picky on who cleans my teeth --- but I am pleased to say that every visit has been outstanding. BEWARE OF BILLING. The dental care I received was fine, although I had a reaction to the anesthesia that was disregarded when reported. The real problem came with coverage. Summit Family Dentistry consistently and repeatedly provided incorrect and incomplete information regarding coverage for services. Only after I had incurred the expense did they let me know that I was on the hook for all of the charges. These actions make it clear that they are much more concerned for generating revenue than looking out for their patients. read more

This dental practice has a habit of urging patients to proceed with unnecessary and expensive dental work. My husband was told he required a deep cleaning for $1200 another dentist said that was not true and he received a "normal" cleaning. I was told I needed a crown replacement. Another dentist said No! My tooth had a root canal and was dead. All I needed was a 10 minute repair for a fraction of the cost. Beware!! read more

I felt it was necessary to leave a review on this one. A year ago my daughter was unable to go to our regular dentist . Summit was close to home so we scheduled an appointment with them. They seemed really friendly at first until they told us, my daughter needed 12 fillings. Keep in mind my daughter goes to the dentist every six and had no problems on her previous six month check up with our regular dentist. Then they said she alsoneeded a special cleaning on her teeth. Total bill would be about $3200. I told him I would be getting a second opinion on this. We went back to our regular dentist to get a second opinion, and he had many patients that got second opinions on this particular dentist office. They'd have the same type of results we had. Our regular dentist said she needed no fillings and her teeth were perfectly fine. There is no way 12 cavities could've formed in six months. Our dentist also said doing this type of dental work could weaken her teeth and she would have dental problems for the rest of her life. He also said he has never seen somebody need that many fillings. In fact, he said, sounds like a dentist needs a new car at Summit. He also said that they wanted to replace some fillings that he'd put in a couple years prior the wrong size fillings that Comfort Dental had put in. ( and no our Dentist is no with Comfort Dental thankfully) People fillings longer than a couple years. We also told them twice that they couldn't do the full frontal dental x-rays because my daughter had them done previously in the last year. They insisted on doing them since she was a new patient and said they would cover the cost even though we told them twice. Guess what- we got billed for our portion of it a few weeks later. I made a complaint to my insurance company and they happily fought it for us. What a nightmare this office is so unethical and they should be ashamed of not having the best interest of the patient in mind instead of their pocketbooks. We are happily back at our Dentist, too who is ethical and no cavities for my daughter. My daughter does take very good care of her teeth. read more

Unfortunately. I have to agree that this practice has declined. We have been going there for the past 3 years. However, today, I went in for a 7 am cleaning and didn't get out of there until 8:10 and still didn't see the dentist. I was actually left in the chair for 15 minutes and finally got up to ask someone if the dentist or someone was going to come back. Then while checking out the woman mentioned I had a balance due but couldn't tell me what it was for so was hesitant to pay since we usually just get cleanings. They let me " go" for not a good fit.. This is unheard , I have never ever been turned down by this clinic with Dr. Secrist. I believe the clinic became business only , not treating people with understanding their needs and actually helping if the patient cant pay them 2K every 6 months through insurance. If this is not happenning, you are not a good " fit " for them . They "select" patients - if you unable to bring the money to their plate for whatever work they demand, you are all of sudden becoming a not a good "fit" for them. I miss Dr. Secrist, he would never allowed to do so. This clinic is not a real clinic but a selective, snobbish and not excepting people who doesn't bring to them MONEY. My husband and I went here as new patients after moving. They were super nice but ended up telling us both we had multiple cavities and the prices. Neither one of us get cavities often so we just felt something was up and didn't schedule the fillings at that time. We just got into a new dentist and neither of us have a single cavity. Decant for dental work. Horrible business ethics and practices! After spending months in and out of hospitals across the US for cancer. They will send you to a collections attorney that will break federal law in trying to collect payment of a small past due bill. When brought to their attention. They say that you have to deal with this attorney and they will do nothing. Mind you the law says different since S.F.D. is the debit holder and the attorney is not retained council authorized to make settlements etc... This company is currently now in the process of being summoned to court to answer a suit against them for harassment, and jointly violating the Fair Debt Collections Act. In Jefferson County, CO. Many dentists have both good service and ethics. I say stay away unless u want to deal with unexpected drama! As for Mr. Harvey. His staff will claim that their is no office manager, and Dr. Harvey "will never return you phone calls". With that said this dispute is not about an issue paying a bill, it's about the ethics that go behind a collection practice. Even if I had no intention of paying my bills with them there are still State and Federal Laws that need to be followed. Again I always had full intentions of paying, but due to medical issues and getting treatment in NYS, unfortunately bills don't always forward correctly... That said, you'd expect a company to YES send something to collections, and try to get their money. Not hire a company to Lie, Threaten, and Harass you before even sending a collections notice. And that is why this company is in the hot water it is now. read more

My husband and I love Summit Family and everyone there! They make it easy to make appointments with their extended hours and then send helpful reminders when it's time to make an appointment! The staff there is wonderful and always makes us feel very welcome. They walk you through everything going on so that we understand what they are looking at and what cleaning aspects we need to work on. My husband hadn't been to the dentist in years, yet after one visit to Summit Family, he is willing to go regularly and has had great service every time. He especially likes hygienist Nina! Plenty of good dentist in the area so don't find out the hard way. Went to three appointments and each time it seemed more like a commissioned based salesman rather then a doctor. All three appointments I walked out paying something out of pocket and I was even double covered. This practice is more concerned about making suggestive sales and utilizing dental insurance benefits to profit. Every time I visit this office, I have had a different revolving dentist who always has an urgent diagnosis that I need a cavity filled or new crown. How can I have 2 cleanings performed in 4 months of each other and need work on both visits? Teeth don't decay that quickly as I have never let my dental care lapse. I moved to this office a couple of years ago simply because they worked with me to get me an appointment for a cleaning that worked for my schedule. I've always had a good experience with routine cleanings here. This week, I was experiencing pain. Not only did they get me in to check things right away, but the experience of replacing a crown was as pleasant as that sort of thing could possibly be. A couple of months ago I was looking for a new dentist due to some issues with my insurance and so, based on the referral of a friend, I (unfortunately) tried Summit Family Dentistry. My first (and only) appt. was for a 6-month check-up and cleaning. My appt. was at 12:00 pm, but when I arrived, I had to wait until about 12:40 pm to go back. I also found it odd that at about 12:25 pm, the front desk person said to me, "your appt. was at 12:30 pm, right?", to which I responded, "no, it was at 12:00 pm". I think they may have reset my appt. to 12:30 pm in their system while I was waiting to minimize how much wait time was logged in their system for my appt. Then, once I got back to the chair, I continued waiting for another 15 min. or so, at which point, someone came in and polished my top teeth (only) because someone else then came in and interrupted the polishing to take x-rays. I then waited a little longer (with no one in the room). The dentist finally came in and did an oral exam, reviewed the x-rays and discussed their findings. They then left and I waited a little longer (again, with no one in the room). By this time I had been in their office for almost 2 hours for a routine 6-month cleaning and check-up, a lot of which still hadn't been done. I had to get back to work (and with no one still in the room), I took off my bib, got out of the chair and walked myself out of their office, again, without any type of cleaning or bottom teeth polishing. About an hour after I got home, I received a $3,000 out-of-pocket treatment plan. Now I would like to note that I have been going to the dentist religiously every 6 months for decades, and had actually just been to my prior dentist 6 months before with a "clean bill of health", so I was quite shocked to see such an extensive (and expensive) recommended treatment plan from my appt. that day with Summit. Also, just to be as reasonable and fair as possible, I did send a follow-up email directly to Summit later that week discussing the above issues and giving them the opportunity to address and correct my poor experience with their office, however, their response was simply, "if you have any questions about your treatment plan, we would be happy to explain things further". There was no apology for wasting hours of my time, nor an offer to finish their incomplete work. Needless to say, this was a very disappointing response and I will definitely not be returning to Summit! read more

I've never had such a positive experience in a medical setting. I never knew going to the dentist could be so pleasant. Generally, in a medical setting, I feel like cattle being processed through a system. At Summit Family Dentistry, it seems the are doing everything they can to have excellent medical AND business practice. They don't view people just as patients but also as valued clients. I felt so cared for and listened to. At my first visit, they even had me fill out a questionnaire so they could get a feel for what makes me comfortable or nervous before doing any work on me. The dentist and hygienist were both so responsive to my feedback. The did so much to make me emotionally and physically comfortable. The building looks brand spankin' new with all state of the art technology and all of the staff is polite, knowledgeable, friendly, and professional. Had a crown put on around 3 years ago and it just feel off not chewing on anything. The crown and post are one unit and now I have a decayed tooth that needs to be pulled and an implant. This practice is completely unprofessional. Initial visit was fine, xrays taken of my broken tooth. Extraction with IV drip sedation was recommended, and appointment was scheduled for 5 days later. Receptionist called 3 hours before surgery to say that the Dr. was unavailable to complete my sedation. The next offered appointment was 21 days later. This is unacceptable, as I am still in excruciating pain, and cannot live with this pain for 3 more weeks. I am now looking for a professional dentist to help me. I honestly dont see why this dentistry is getting bad reviews as a guy that got traumatized by poor work at a dentist this is my 1st time coming back since I was 17 and I cant complain they treated noth me and my wife like they knew us for years now and there goals were to keep us calm and get our teeth healthy Dr. Richard Harvey checked my teeth right after and got down to what I needed to work on was extremely straight forward and a very cool guy and a big thanks to Sarah for getting my mouth all cleaned up I appreciate it! One star is way too much ! ZERO would be too much .. I just finished a detailed negative review on google , not sure I have the energy to re write the whole thing .. Went for 3 fillings last week of Sept. , was left seated for 50 min. with NO contact after initial chat with Dr. Harvey .. was within moments of just walking out .. never really saw the doctors helper as she was talking from behind me .. Not friendly !! I was informed I had periodontal disease by Dr. Harvey , he left me thinking it was a death sentence !! I let them do the 3 fillings ( against my better judgement as I had waited so long for this visit ) with partial x rays and exam charge total 780.00 .. Was told it would cost me 1500.00 for deep cleaning , scaling , 750.00 per side + 600.00 for 2 additional fillings .. 175.00 per visit every 3 months for the rest of my life .. In house discount plan 795.00 a year .. Scam are my thoughts ! I went to another dentist a week later ( and will now be my permanent dentist ) after 2 filings and buffing out the sandpaper filings that were not taken care of by Dr. Harvey .. my now new dentist let me know that I only ( 2 ) teeth that needed deep cleaning , scaling .. they measured all of my teeth at gum lines .. Called Summit to forward X rays to my new dentist , they said would send in 1-2 days but when I arrived 5 days later NO X rays ! They called Summit for me twice while I was in dentist chair but they only came almost 2 hours later when my appointment was finished .. incompetent .. The new dentist I have is excellent half the price and kind polite and caring big time .. DO NOT USE SUMMIT DENTAL !! Scare tactics to get your money is what they are all about !! read more

One word, smarmy. Who wants a smarmy dentist in a nice facility? I was a long time patient (since Dr. Secrist) as was my whole family. After I was unexpectedly "let go" as a patient for "not being a good fit" I decided to "let it go" until I started receiving unexplained medical bills to the tune of over $500. I called once and received no call back. I called a second time and waited on hold for over 20 minutes while the office manager tried to figure it out. Turns out they were billing the wrong insurance. Rather than reaching out to their "fired patient" they just started sending out bills and charging finance charges. My family of 6 and my parents, all long-time patients have found another dentist with a smaller ego. They talk a lot about loyalty to their patients in their fancy recording; I don't consider letting a patient of 15 years go over poor communication amongst staff to be very very indicative of loyalty. read more

I went to this office, and they confused my insurance with another plan. They quoted me for services while I was in the chair but were giving me incorrect rates (as they had mixed up the insurance plans). I am now stuck with a $900.00 bill for services that were quoted at a fraction of that. The staff did an incredible job at making this right, and I am looking forward to my upcoming appointment on Monday. This is the best customer service I have ever experienced. The work I'm having done for my teeth isn't pleasant. Requiring several visits along with healing time in between. Dr. Hauschild and the rest of the staff at Summit have been truly exemplary. They really have set the standard for what I now expect from a dentist office. Having this sort of team approach makes the process convenient. They've taken note of what is important to me and what kind of patient I am and have made all my experiences with them more than simply tolerable. My Family will continue to return to Summit Family Dentistry regardless of our Insurance situation because they make every effort to accomodate our plan, and most importantly, their execution of care is worth every penny. read more

Terrible customer service. I recently called to set up an appointment for crowns. I was told that they use my insurance but little did I know they are not in the network. I was only told this after my so called oral exam. I received a bill and called the office. I asked about the bill because my insurance didn't pay anything. I was told by the receptionist it was my responsibility to know if they were in network. Well good customer service probably would have told me that when I called to setup the appointment. I think maybe it's slick way to get more money from their customers. read more
