We made reservations for Saturday night for 4. It is on a windy road up the mountain. Gorgeous but could use some more signs and lights. The view is 5 stars. The interior not so much. You walk into a big stark room. They had tables pushed back towards the window which was cold looking. So many families with crying kids. Service started slowly. Very small menu and not outrageously expensive. Service got better and the food was ok. Sirloin steak cooked nice but needed better flavor, baked potato small and hard, and asparagus was not grilled kinda steamed. My burrata and pasta was good. Great views aside, this is a super standard wannabe "sports bar" serving overpriced and bland American food. I got the Sullivan Burger, which at $22 I thought would be a satisfying and substantial thing, but in reality it was disappointingly small (and this is saying something for me because I think most American portion sizes are too big). It would have been fine if it were priced more in the mid $10s, but I think this is just a resort gouging a captive audience. Beyond the food, the decor felt like an airport waiting room, and they were playing both music and had the volume up on some insignificant college basketball game, which made for a confusing and loud experience. I read the reviews of this place prior to going, but I thought I'd give it a try anyway...... mistake #1. With 4 kids (12-15 years old), I figured thete would be plenty of options. Mistake #2. Their menu is fairly small. I can get behind that..... I mean, Gordon Ramsey would say do a few things well, instead if a lot of things mediocre. Well, this one was neither. We had the brussle sprouts and potatoes appetizers, and they were so-so. Our main dishes were the lobster mac and cheese, grilled cheese sandwichs, and the short rib burger. The mac and cheese was ok. One kid didnt like the strange cheese used on the grilled cheese sandwiches, and the burger was.....meh... the best part was the bavarian pretzel. It was pretty big and tasted great. Everyone loved it. I would say, however that the hardest part of the entire thing was the bill. For basically a bunch of average diner type foods, the cost was a bit ridiculous. The bill was right about $100 for that. I wanted the big steak, but for $58, there was no way. The table next to us ordered it, and promptly sent it back. I think I dodged a bullet there. Mistake #3 The server, Steven was ok, no complaints with him. The restaurant was pretty cool at the top of the mountain, with a great view of the valley below. I would agree with some of the reviews that said it was trying to be fine dining, but failed at it. I would say be a steakhouse, and do that well. That's what your guests want, not expensive quasi-fancy food. I mean they are shelling out a lot of money to stay thete, so sonething a bit more down home and price conscious would do well. Overall, i think the 2 stars are appropriate. read more

It was a foggy evening on the night of our reservation. We got lost a few times but our GPS finally got it right. What an adventure! The staff was super friendly! Decent food for a great view. It's true that the menu is small but everyone is nice and accommodating at the restaurant. The only downside is that they didn't serve any beers in tap today and kinda short staffed. I think people usually come here for the view since this is a new restaurant opened on top of the mountain. I think the food is quite similar to the restaurant at the bottom of the mountain (the trails end). We ordered the short ribs burger and chicken sandwich. I liked that the chicken sandwich came on biscuits and with hot sauce. We substituted the regular fries to sweet potato fries and they were delicious. With 2 cans of beer, our bill came out to be around 50 dollars. This place is worth skiing up and take some photos on their balcony. read more

But, the food was pretty good considering you're in the Poconos. Customer service was great! The steak came out too well done and they took it back and remade it. Delicious food! My entire party of 4 agreed that their burgers were cooked to perfection and my wings were so flavorful! The wings are actually the wing part of the chicken and it comes with 5 big pieces with a dry rub. The cajun dry rub has just the right amount of seasoning that does not overpower the delicious wing. Unfortunately, there was too much fog at the top of the mountain from the rain to see anything at all, but the food was still worth the trip up. I cannot speak for other foods, but the burgers and wings are perfect. My only dislike is the pricing and small menu. I think if they lowered prices they would get way more business. read more

Sunday Brunch: Not the worst, but close. I recently heard on the radio that Kartrite's Summit House is a must try for foodies in the area. This is sincerely not the case. The food served was edible, but primarily featuring stale carbs. The Good: 1. Omelet bar. With what seemed like fresh veggies, meats, and cheese. Two guys working behind the counter meant there wasn't much of a line, and the omelets made were good. 2. The Bar. Anytime I asked for a mimosa, they did not skimp on the champagne. Orange juice did not seem fresh squeezed, but it didn't hinder enjoyment very much. 3. The pumpkin raviolis were pretty decent, with a light pumpkin flavor and a nice sauce with mint sprig accompaniment. 4. The view was nice, looking over Cresco/Mt Pocono area. 5. Everyone was nice, though the bartender kept disappearing. The Okay: 1. Scrambled eggs were fine, I've seen places ruin eggs and it was nice to not have that here. 2. The meats seemed fine, nothing fancy. 3. Bagels with cream cheese were available, hard to screw that up. 4. Fresh fruit choices were pretty plentiful. The Bad: Everything else. In order, the breakfast potatoes were solid, presumably frozen. The french toast and Belgian waffles had no fluff, mostly a crispy staleness. There was a wide array of danishes that were all stale, and had an awful mouth-feel. The room was cramped, with very little area to move in the aisles. In Conclusion: The selection of food was fairly small, for a buffet. Typical breakfast fare, none of it outstanding. The price point was fine for what it was, but I had expected better. Certainly not a place for foodies, avoid this if you're trying to eat deliciously, regardless of the cost. I don't personally recommend this place to anyone, no matter what you're looking for, but wouldn't fault you for giving it a shot. read more

Didn't realize we had to take a shuttle from the hotel to get here. Should have figured Summit mean summit. My mistake, certainly not the fault of the restaurant. I called to let them know we might run a touch late for our reservation. They assured me it wouldn't be a problem, and they certainly had our table ready for us upon our arrival. A bit of a limited menu here. Considered the Bavarian pretzel. Glad I skipped it. It was essentially a jumbo pretzel akin to what's available at a stadium. At $10 I'm happy to have omitted it. Went with a house double IPA. Wish I could recall the exact name. Simply average at best. Wouldn't order it again. Pork porterhouse was quite tasty. Highlight of my meal. Cooked right, flavorful, juicy and delicious. Smashed potatoes seemed more like a cut up baked potato. Simply existed on the plate. Brussels were not exactly crispy. I can't believe I'm typing this, but there was WAY too much bacon. Didn't realize that was possible before this version. Bouillabaisse wasn't quite what I expected. More of a mixed seafood plate with a touch of a tomato broth. Decent enough. Burger was cooked to order. Pretty basic version. Service was friendly and accommodating. Decent restaurant. Not unhappy I went, but I'm not rushing back. Better view during the summer or at least during the daylight. Once the sun goes down, there's simply nothing to see. read more

I don't even know where to start with this review. The atmosphere is attempting to be "fine dining", but The lights were bright during the night and the music was like techno dance music. On top of that, the servers were wearing barber shop quartet shirts making it look Italian. Which would be fine if they had any Italian food at all. Instead they give you a menu with literally 20 items on it, including a 30 oz ribeye. The problem is this ribeye was literally 12 oz of bone and 18oz of ribeye for $65. And when we asked for it to be medium, it came out rare. They need to pick a theme and roll with it and get their menu in shape. read more

I read the reviews before we decided to eat here. One said the calamari was too salty--Not true, it was perfectly prepared and tasted wonderful. My husband and I enjoyed every aspect of our meal. The smell as soon as we walked in this place was horrid. My husband repeated himself 10x that it smelled like..well i don't want to repeat what he said. The drive up to this place is crazy so we kinda had that "we're already here" mentality....We figured the smell would dicipate when we entered the dining room nope...and before we could get up and leave, the waiter came over and brought us bread so we stayed and dealt with it. The view is unbelievable, but being we weren't staying at one of the water parks (i think that's why people come-it's convienant) I would never come back. The bread and guava butter was the only thing worth talking about. My chicken was sadly undercooked and it left me checking each piece I ate. My husbands steak was chewy (even though it was rare) and they didn't even give him a steak knife (def needed it for this cut of meat) We kept our order to a minimum knowing it was going to be mediocre. The waiter was super nice and tried to be attentive but for Saturday night they seemed way understaffed as we barely saw him. I was vacationing with my husband in a nearby town on a buisness trip (I'm a food/lifestyle blogger) and was trying to check out some scenic, local gems-this won't be making the list. Went here for a holiday weekend. We were actually staying at a resort nearby and wanted to check out the other food options since we are getting married on this area next year. Decent food for sure.
