I made an appointment at the Summit Hill Walk in Clinic this morning. I call the one in Bearden Hill Knoxville directly. I was given an appointment at 2 pm. I arrived on time and the doors were locked. I called and they said I went to the wrong door so I turned around on Kingston Pike to go back. The doors were locked and a sign said they were at lunch from 2 to 3. I was sick and mad and pounded on the door since I had called back to verify and they told me I went to the wrong door. There was no reminder or confirmation on my phone as there was supposed to be. The most incompetent facility I have ever gone to. if you have a runny nose go there. if you have anything else, run elsewhere. Had random pain in pelvis, groin area. They ran a test for UTI on Day 1. They told me if it was negative they would order an ultrasound with Ft Loudon medical center. On Day 2 I called regarding my results. They advised case was closed because I didn't have a UTI. Well when were you going to tell me that. I then asked them to arrange for the ultrasound. After 3 days of pain I called Ft Loudon and asked about the order. they said the original order from Summit was incorrect and they sent it back for a redo on the day they received it. Summit had not returned it. They advised me to have Summit request a stat order to get the test done immediately. When I called Summit they advised they had sent it back that morning. So it took 4 days for them to re-send the incorrect order back to Ft Loudon. I was livid. Then some other person came on the line. she advised that my test couldn't be done by a stat order but said she didn't know why. I told her I now had no choice but to go to emergency because I couldn't wait another 4 days for treatment. I told them they were completely incompetent in handling this matter. She then told me I was free to find another provider and hung up on me. Bottom line, went to emergency and they did a CT scan instead of an ultrasound and advised me what the problem was. First, I think Summit Med on Emory Rd deserves more than 1.5 stars. We've been here approx 20 yrs, and believe we receive above avg care. Time reqd for an appointment is very reasonable. Doctors & nurses know what they are doing, and if the problem is outside their range of expertise, they don't hesitate to refer you to a appropriate specialist. Summit Med has a very large patient load, and probably getting larger all the time. The practice of medicine is an extraordinarily complicated and intricate affair. Being a "senior citizen" I probably have more aches and pains than the average duck, but I'm just fine with the care I receive. I think my beef is with the AMA and our stick-in-the-mud Congress, the majority of them insist that socialized medicine equates to communism. Rubbish. read more

The office staff at Summit Medical Group at Chattanooga Family Practice in East Ridge Tn. is horrible. The doctors are good but having to try to go through the office staff is bad. Last two times I have needed a doctor I have had to drive to the office to make an appointment. They then tell me we don't do walk ups. How am I to be seen if you don't answer the phone ? When I go in there seems to be plenty of office staff but they are always chatting and laughing it up with no care for the patients. And the appointment times are never kept. read more

Extremely incompetent medical staff since a few years back. Nothing like it used to be 21 years ago when I first became a patient. Everytime I see my Physician, Dr. Luke Chesney ( new to me since my old doctor retired ca 8 years ago) it seems he is rushing to get to the next patient. My questions and health concerns were really never answered as the appointment seemed always rushed. Once I showed him a tiny growth on my forearm, he just took a quick glance at it and decided it was nothing. He stated was just a cyst, did not address it further ( even after the second time I asked him), and sent me on my way. Last week it was a frustrating issue with him failing to transfer a permission for a procedure I needed with the diagnostic lab. Everything they do is pretty much mediocre, they do not communicate with each other, thus having the patient going back and forth to do what they should be doing. I was livid and complained about it with a supervisor, telling her that I had it with their incompetence. Today I received a letter from Dr Luke Chesney saying that he is discontinuing our physician/ patient relationship because it is compromised. In conclusion, it is evident that doctors and staff at Summit Medical Group do not want to be questioned for their short comings, especially when we are paying for it. In my humble opinion, they play with people's lives and can no longer be considered doctors, but act more like a they are a mega corporation/ business, rather than healing individuals. They refuse to listen to their patients and only see their patients as their source of income. They do not care about people, only money. It seems that the Hippocratic Oath that the doctors of old-school held sacred within their vocation and dedication to their patients does not apply any longer with this group. I cannot help but agree with what a previous reviewer mentioned above: go to Summit Medical Group for a runny nose, but for other serious health matters go to a more reputable medical facility. I have never had such a frustrating experience with a doctor's office. My family was relatively new to town and this place is close to home so my husband and I became patients. We are healthy with no major concerns, we just wanted a place that would do our annual blood work and physicals. My first visit, I showed anemia, not unexpectedly to me. No problem, they wanted me to start taking iron and come back in 6 weeks to retest. I started taking a beef organ supplement because I know it is more bio-available than what they suggested. I go back in 6 weeks and my iron is back in normal range (Yay!) but my ferritin is still low and they were upset I wasn't taking the supplement that they wanted me to even though my iron was good. They want me to come back in another 6 weeks and retest ferritin levels. Ok fine, I indulged them and started taking the iron and went back. Now it is January, a new deductible starts and I go back to retest. I get a call that my iron is still good. It went up a whole point with 6 weeks of their crappy supplement. I told them I know my iron is good, I need to know if the ferritin level is up. Oh, the nurse didn't order a test for that. Please pay $160. WTH?!?! That was literally the reason for the appointment. In addition to that frustrating experience, they push medications and vaccines regardless of risk factors and health history. They have been charging our insurance $5/month for over a year now for each of us. I called insurance and they said it's not a claim and it's not coming from the billing department, it's coming directly from the office. I tried dozens of times to call and get a resolution and nobody will answer the phone, no messages are returned, nothing. So finally I call and tell them we are no longer patients, we will take our healthcare elsewhere. The charges still haven't stopped!! Only now they are $3 per month. 02-28-2024 I spent the past three days wasting my time with Summit Medical I spent 1 1/2 hours on hold trying to make a doctors appointment for an injury i had sustained. I got tired of waiting on the phone so I went to the office I was calling here in Halls, Knoxville. When I got there was told they are not taking Blue Care which is under TENN CARE. The Summit Medical Corporate Office referred me to the Halls location specifically stating they would accept my Blue Care Insurance there. I left in pain and disappointed I returned home and called The Summit Medical Corporate Office again asking for a location near me that would take Blue Care. They referred me to the Farragut office (45 mins away) stating they will accept Blue Care and once I make an appointment there I can transfer to the Hall location closer to my home. I called the Farragut office and they scheduled me for 3:15 the next day. 02-29-2024 I took off from work early for the appointment. When I arrived early, I was presented about 7 forms to fill out. in one of the forums I was asked to waive ALL my RIGHTS literally. I drew a line through that statement as at the bottom it stated they could not compel me to sign the form as it was voluntary. The receptionist directed me to sign the form and I replied I was not comfortable waiving all my rights as it was not required under law. I was lead to examine room where my blood pressure was take however, I was not allowed to know the exact reading was. I waited about an hour and was awakened by the office manager only to be told the doctor is not taking any more patients with Blue Care Insurance. I would not recommend Summit Medical to anyone, especially senior citizens like my self. The whole experience was unethical and emotionally stressful having to deal with so much false and misleading information. I encourage anyone having a negative experience with this organization to report the situation to the governor's office on medical malpractice and The American Medical Association. This is a waste and misuse of tax payers dollars and you can be assured millions of dollars are being misused as this organization is not professional nor competent to medically treat citizens of Knoxville or anywhere for that matter. I have been with this office for 10 Years never had a problem. My inflammation was up so my pcp told me to contact my rheumatologist. So basically the email I got back today was I was fat and needed to control my weight. In the last six months I'm the sickest I have ever been. Been life flighted, had 3 surgeries, just been back to work for 3 week. That's the response I get from Sizemore's office. Absolutely not true will be switching to Vanderbilt and have all my doctors in one spot. They don't have time to get your meds pre approved but they can send you nasty emails. I'm done read more

Summit left me in the cold. They wont let me see or have pcp because I owe $270. I was told paying it won't matter on the decision. They are not patient driven and only care about if you can pay or not. Even in the offices at a visit, the doctors have to clock how long they get to spend with you. We pay for their time and full attention. Im not suggesting they shouldn't be profitable but screw them for being so petty. Nice nurses and doctors, but they charge à la carte meaning that the cost of an office visit depends on how many things you request of the doctor. There is no set office visit charge like there is with non-corporate doctors. EX: You ask the doctor for cough medicine and you are charged the basic office visit PLUS a "respiratory consultation" and then if you mention you might need a prescription for a UTI, then another charge is tacked on for "urinary consultation"--no tests, no urine analysis, you've just asked for a prescription. It's insane, especially for Medicare patients. You never know what the visit is going to cost, so no way to accurately budget. What happened to an office visit being a set fee?? read more

The front office staff at this location is horrible, they are unfriendly and refuse help when you need it the most. Their billing department sent me to collections even though I had been making payments on my account. When I had a true emergency, the doctor that had been seeing me refused to even call me Back, and the nurse practitioners refused to take my call. They had a medical assistant be the face of the medical professionals there and totally passed me off to whoever else. I felt that this group was very unprofessional, very unfriendly, and also quite dangerous for the patients. read more

Had my annual blood work done in October with a NP. She was very nice and thorough and I was happy with the appointment. Unfortunately, my iron was low, so I was told to take iron and come back in 6 weeks for another blood draw. Ok, no problem. I've never had low iron before, but I knew it was a possibility based on my health for the last year. That NP left the practice before my 6 week follow up, so I saw a different NP in December. I found an awesome blood supplement from beef organs so I started that. I immediately felt better and my health issues went away, so I was confident that my blood work in December would be fine. The new NP did nothing but listen to my heart and ask about what I was taking. She wasn't happy that I wasn't taking iron pills. My blood work showed a vast improvement in my iron levels (up 33 points) and they were now in the normal range. Great right!! Apparently not. She said my ferritin was very low and I needed to take the iron tablet she recommended and retest again in a month. They didn't test for ferritin in October, so I have no idea what my starting level was. Fine, I'll take the pill. I was also continuing my blood supplement. This week I went in for my one month retest and once again, she came in for 30 seconds and listened to my heart. $155 visit charge for 30 seconds. I just needed a blood draw! Got a call a few days later that my iron went up ONE point. Those magic iron pills didn't do crap. When I asked what my ferritin level was (since that is why I was having the retest in the first place) she said that wasn't part of the iron panel and wasn't tested. WHAT?!?! That was literally the reason I was there!! So now I have no idea what my ferritin level is, the iron pills didn't do anything, and I will be getting a bill for most likely over $100 since it is January. Waste of time and money. The worst part was she suggested I may have to take the iron pills forever. No discussion about my diet (I consume red meat daily), she suggested a gut absorption issue (that could be highly dangerous, but again no discussion or suggestion about how to fix it) just take a pill every day. Medical professionals like this are why I don't go to the doctor more than once a year. I will be finding a new primary care office and getting functional blood work done annually by someone who actually knows what to test for and what OPTIMAL levels are, and what to do if they aren't at that level. This office seems to care more about billing and pushing meds. read more

I walked in to make an appointment. No one was at the reception. 30 seconds later a woman pokes her head into the reception area and says to me "yeah"? Not "hello Sir, how may I help you today"? I told her I wanted to make an appointment and was told they don't take walk ins. Again I said I wanted to make an appointment and was then told to have a seat and someone would be with me in a bit. 20 minutes later I never saw another employee or patient, so I got up and left. read more

I had a good first experience with this location. I was able to book my appointment over the phone. The only reason I gave 4/5 was due to the 5-6 pages of paper work I had to manually fill out. I really hope they get to a kiosk system in the future. Wait time was about normal..30 minutes. Once I got in my initial diagnostics were all gathered. After that the Dr. came in 15 minutes later (again, pretty normal). Dr. Shane Kelly was my doc and he was very nice and not in a hurry. We covered all of the history and went through my diet and routines. If he has any openings for patients then I would recommend. And finally...Summit uses Follow My Health, which is a way to view all of your medical records and anything they record as information all online. I had my panel done and was able to download it for my employer in just a few minutes. read more

Facilities have outdated equipment and furnishing and you don't get a professional vibe from the environment overall. They lost my urine samples 3 times and quite possibly mixed up my sample with another patient. In the course of a day I went from having blood and puss present to going back the next morning for a culture and having everything be normal. Then I was left hanging without any explanation as to what happened. Another time I had an appointment for bloodwork and they were ready to send me for genetic testing until I corrected them. They had me confused with another patient as something was inaccurate entered into my record. They are lax in follow up and follow through and are not the greatest at connecting the dots for you when investigating health issues. Some test results are missing from the portal and others don't get posted unless you say something, and others are just not posted. Feedback on results are also untimely. In the three years I had been with them, not once did they post or respond to test results until I had to ask for them weeks after the tests were completed. They often need prompting and are not proactive. Urgency is definitely lacking. If you don't ask the questions, put pressure on them, or go above and beyond in advocating for your own health/treatment, you often feel like you've fallen through the cracks. They often drop the ball and make you feel like a burden as a patient for asking pertinent questions. There have been times when they've not been responsive to messaged requests on the portal and I had to actually ask, "Hello??? Is anyone there???", before anyone got back with me. As for their patient portal, very user UNFRIENDLY and limited in functionality and information you can access. Summit is far behind its competitors as a medical group in service, excellence in care, and equipment and technology. They are by no means stellar in any capacity. Do yourself a favor and go to Covenant or UT. The last thing any patient needs or wants to do is to have to constantly fill in gaps for their medical providers and do the jobs of their office teams for them. Every patient appreciates a facility with providers they feel they can trust with their health, that makes them feel like they are a priority, and have confidence that the medical professionals are onto of things and connecting the dots for them to get to the root of problems. I don't feel its the physicians fault, as the doctor was good and spends time with patients. The nursing, back office, processes and procedures are a major issue. Their right hand never knows what the left is doing and their internal communications are not great. Summit is a mediocre medical group and patient experience. It never seems they are on top of their game, nothing ever goes smoothly. There is always an issue with something being ill coordinated or falling through the cracks. You don't ever get a sense that they are going above and beyond for you but rather your a burden and they're doing you a favor. I am sorry to leave a review like this and normally I don't leave negative reviews unless it's egregious. I think its clearly forgotten that in essence they are hired by you to do the job... not the other way around. read more

The doctors and nurses are fine but their billing practices are horrible. The will rip you off and over charge you every chance they get.

If you have a choice, go somewhere else. This place or at least some of it's employees don't care about you but rather their bottom line. Dr. Mosrie at the Fountain City location can't communicate with his patients. He expects you to know what he wants and is thinking. If you don't he will just discharge you with no explanation. Then when you try and find out what is going on, you will get Jane Grubb on the phone. She will treat you like a piece of excrement instead of a patient of over a decade. If you ask a question at all, she will just simply say, " I am not going to argue with you" and hang up on you. This happened more than once. Finally not having any answers or medications left, i just found a better doctor and organization. I have never been happier with my doctor now. I just wanted this to be known in case it could save someone else the pain that I went through. This place shouldn't be allowed to be in business and take people's money as that is all they are interested in. At least that was my experience anyway. Don't waste your time!! read more

Frankly, I am disgusted with Summit Medical; I went to the one in Tellico. I had several appointments cancelled the day of- extremely unprofessional. Then theres the situation of never answering the phones. I repeatedly tried calling and despite them cancelling my appointment day of twice, I couldn't get one scheduled til another month out. One person explained from another office in Farragut that they couldn't even reach the Tellico office. Then there is the billing, which in my opinion is literally vile. My entire family has been repetitively re-charged for things we've already paid for- despite me calling and reaching out to billing, who also never answers, they assured that they'd get it taken care of but regardless I keep getting billed 400$ for something I've already paid for- for ONE visit that was basically just a blood test. Look around, it isn't just me it is almost everyone reviewing that is expressing distaste for such practices. Then recently, with me trying to reach out I was given a number for billing, and it wasn't even in service! And before I could even explain this the lady on the phone was rude. Now they refuse to do business with me because they claim I "abused" their staff by voicing my distaste with their operator who was rude. Don't waste your time there, they will just abuse you, make getting care take a lot longer, mostly because of the department staff rather than the actual care professionals. The doctors and nurses here are borderline incompetent. None of them are proper diagnosticians. My wife had complaints of weakness, fatigue, and feeling light headed. They dismissed her as a hypochondriac because her supposed numbers were in the normal range. I took her to a new doctor, a proper one, and he found that she had some kidney problems, even though her numbers were normal. Imagine if this progressed into something life threatening. No one likes going to the doctor. And I am absolutely one of those people that put it off until I'm pretty certain that I'm going to die if I don't see my doctor. That is, however, no reflection whatsoever of my doctor or the staff at Summit Medical Group. In fact, I never had a regular doctor until I found Dr. Jeffrey Stevens at Summit. I floated around and made my way to emergency clinics and got my antibiotic fix or whatever wherever I could. What made me a one-doctor kind of woman? For me, it all boils down to the fact that I feel like Dr. Stevens actually cares. I don't go to the doctor often, but he always remembers me when I do and asks about things that he remembers from our last visit. He is personable and easy to talk to, which is important. He is professional and knowledgeable. He prescribes a healthy lifestyle before he prescribes pills, which I really appreciate. When I first started seeing him, he discovered that I was being overdosed on thyroid medication. That was almost 5 years ago and he still keeps his eye on it, though it's been stabilized for some time. His entire staff is friendly and never makes me feel like a nuisance. I rarely wait more than 5 minutes in the waiting room to be taken back or in the exam room for the doctor. The perform lab work on site. They perform them right there in the room and results are returned quickly. I have referred several people to Summit Medical Group and everyone has had similar experiences and have been pleased. No one likes to go to the doctor, but it's nice to know that when you do, you have someone you can trust. read more

I'm a new patient at this facility. In general my experience has been largely positive. The Doctor seems to be a pretty good guy and most of the staff are friendly. So why the two star rating you might ask? On many occasions one doesn't see the doctor, one sees a nurse for simple situations. Unfortunately the nurse I have seen on most visits, I have found to be extremely rude, disrespectful, impatient, condescending and curt. Pretty much every trait no one wants in a health care professional. (or human being) And for the record this didn't develop over several visits, she was rude the first time I went in, and every time since. She seems to be one of those health care people who think they are superior, and THEY are in charge, not you!. Its a hassle to change doctors, but the prospect of having to deal with this nurse on a regular basis has me considering it. Its a sad situation when one person is SO obnoxious that she taints the entire experience. read more

The staff was nice no complaints with them my complaint is with whoever is in charge with billing!!! My husband went in July of 2019 and we got plenty of notices from our insurance saying "THIS IS NOT A BILL" with a lovely number of what we would be owing but nothing from summit themselves billing us. Then my husband receives a phone call in NOVEMBER, yes you heard me right NOVEMBER, saying that if he didn't make a payment soon his account would be sent to collections. I'm not sure what the dynamic of most of your marriages out there are but in ours, my husband may not look it but he is the one you don't want to talk to. He hears he owes money and he goes red, so I told him I would call and take care of it when I got home from work in the morning. So I stay up till 8am after working a 12 hour shift to speak to the billing lady who was nice and explained that this was an usual thing that happened, that many patients call and complain saying that they never receive a bill in the mail for months but will get a phone call saying if not paid soon their account will go to collections. She was nice and said not to worry about it and if I wanted I could call her and make payments or she could send me something in the mail to pay. So I did try to call and make the payment over the phone like she said but no one picked up and I left a voicemail and no one called back, so mail option it was. Sure enough later that week we FINALLY received a bill in the mail in NOVEMBER when the visit was in JULY. So my husband made payments from November to February of what he could afford at the time and then we stopped receiving bills, which as I'm sure you probably are thinking that can't be good, and you would be right because they sent it to collections! So moral of the story of you have good credit and would like to see it plummet out of no where while you are in the process of trying to buy a house go to summit Medical Group they will make all you bad credit score dreams come true!!! read more

I went in for a well visit for insurance purposes and now have a 95.00 bill. I have called many times and spoken with any one who would listen that the braces they gave me, I was told were samples. The billing department is terrible and my doctor said I was free to find another if i wanted to. This is after 21 years with him. I have never been late with a payment or failed to pay a balance to anyone including this group. I set up a payment plan but was told through the BBB that it was not sufficient to keep me out of collections. My reply was that this type of bullying and harassment was the very reason I filed the complaint. Sometimes I wonder who out there cares about the patients? The insurance surely does not and now it seems as though the Drs. do not. We are just a means to make money. It is very sad. read more

Dr. Gerald Mancebo caused me to be hospitalized in intensive care for refusal to authorize a RX for Alprazolam while I was between doctors (I had to move from TN to WI) and was unemployed and on Obamacare. It took 2 months to get things straightened out and another month to get a Primary care Doctor appointment. I left messages and automated requests and was told I was no longer a patient and he would be there for emergencies for 30 days. I made a request through his nurse that the RX be refilled because I had been on it for some time and that was ignored. I went through 6 days of withdrawal and 3 in the hospital. This doctor doesn't care about his patients and would rather see them suffer. My medical bills are over $2000.00 now and I can only work part time for 200 a week.. Now I blood pressure issues and uncontrollable muscle spasms as a result. Spread the word about this uncaring money hungry doctor. read more
