When I heard about "floating" I immediately conjured up thoughts of plastic arm bands that I wore as a child in the swimming pool. Yeah, I've floated. Oh! For relaxation, you mean? Huh-tell me more. The latest fad in the spa industry is floating (there may be other fads more recent, but I don't follow them that closely). Not being one to turn down a chance at relaxation and pampering, I grabbed my partner in crime (my mom) and went to float. The spa is a lovely, tranquil space tucked away in a business complex (think doctor office). Parking was a breeze, which I appreciate, and the location was easy to find. When you step inside, it's got a nice feeling of relaxation and you are immediately greeted by someone at the front desk. We were given a waiver to fill out and a questionnaire for medical needs "in case we decided to come back later for a massage." I skipped that part since I'm from out of town and won't likely be driving from Salt Lake City for a massage. We were then given a brief orientation and tour of the facility and instruction to shower prior to our float. I found that the shower in the women's dressing room had drainage issues and quickly filled with water, so I made it brief. My mom and I were each given our own private rooms with individual float pods. We were instructed to put petroleum jelly on any cuts to avoid salt water sting and were provided with ear plugs, if we wanted to keep the water out of our ears. The trash can next to the pod had the previous floaters' used ear plugs and trash in it, which was a bit off-putting. I don't really want to be reminded that someone else's naked body was floating in here before me. Oh well, in I go. The water was warm and I was giddy to see that I do, actually, float without any effort. It took me awhile to relax-especially since I followed the advice to close the lid behind me (ahem, kind of coffin-y) and was feeling a teensy bit claustrophobic. I pushed myself back and forth off the sides a few times and eventually found my quiet place. There is no timer in there-so you don't know how long you've been floating. At the end, they are supposed to turn on a gentle jet to alert you that your session is over. But after awhile, I was getting too hot, claustrophobic and a little nauseous, so I got out. (It turns out I only had a couple minutes to go...dang quitter). As I was sitting on the edge cooling off, I noticed lots of floaties in the water. Dark hair kind. I'm a redhead. Gag. OK, other people float in here too, I get it. But that was pretty gross. I took another quick shower, wanting to avoid the puddle, dressed and met my mom in the lounge area. It turns out that she had gotten out ten minutes before me. Verdict? Relaxing-slightly, if you can calm down and get past some of the icky factor and the close quarters. I may just opt for a bubble bath at home. read more

I really like the environment that is a very welcoming and professional . My wife and I went for 60 minute floats each the only difficulty was that the pods light would not turn off and the music wasn't functioning. This was something that we experienced the last time we were here and we were disappointed to find it had not been repaired. The staff is very friendly. read more

After a recent surgery I was recommended to get a lymphatic drainage massage to help with the healing process. David was wonderful and informative discussing before the session what it entails and understanding what would be the primary focus areas for the session. It is a light and soothing touch that awakens your lymph nodes and then focusing on close proximity areas to help flush out excessive swelling. I did my first float there not to long ago at the time my wife of 25 years and I had separated. Needless to say I was a complete mess. To top it off I'm a recovered opiate addict and was 1 1/2 years clean from a 16 year addiction at the time, which was due to a neck injury which lead to 2 fusion surgeries with a 3rd surgery soon. As you can imagine after that long on opiates the separation brought on emotions that I have never dealt with sober so when I say I was a complete mess I am not saying it lightly. The young lady that helped me was so helpful especially after I gave her a brief run down of my mess of a world and she was nothing short of amazing with her help and expertise. For the life of me I can't remember her name to give her credit but everyone there at the time was helpful. As I'm sure everyone struggles their first few floats with relaxing enough to go to the level of total relaxation for their minds to hit the sweet spot, but once I did I was in another realm and experienced something I have never felt. Long story short the young lady that helped me was so awesome and I was given a few free floats and because I was not doing good mentally she said my first float was on her so I didn't have to pay for it. I would have gladly paid because it has helped me cope with certain aspects of my life and now instead of pills my addiction is much healthier due to it being an addiction to floating. The facility is overall great. I have a couple of complaints. I scheduled a massage for a birthday surprise for my wife. Staff was awesome and helpful getting the appointment scheduled. They took my credit card info and said they wouldn't run it. It was only to hold the appointment. I told her she needs to run the card cause this a present for my wife, and she said she would. The next day I told my wife I scheduled the appointment and it's all taken care of. They told her it wasn't paid for. She got there at 5:00 like they said to. She filled out her paper work, and then they took her to her room. They started the 60 minute massage around 5:10ish. They finished 50 minutes later. At exactly 6:00. She didn't get a full 60 minutes. Overall my wife was happy and enjoyed the massage. I asked her if she was happy, and she said she would go back. read more

Since this spa has been open, I have had the best massage therapy appointments and I have been going to massage therapy for over 10 years. I have 20% upper body skin grafts and the therapists there have treated me with kindness and have only sought to help my body to heal. The work is paying off as I've gotten range of motion back in my hips and neck. They do great work! read more

Place was okay... you can hear anything and everything people walking, dropping things... but I try not to be critical but I was more bugged that I got jipped on time with my 60 minute massage. Awesome place! This place has l something for everyone! Amazing atmosphere! Let's start with the massages... I am no stranger when it comes to getting a massage. I've had all kinds from men and women alike, they have a massage therapist for everyone here, and if you didn't find your perfect match the first time coming then talk with them about what you want and they will give you a therapist that matches what you want. Almost every single 3 star or less review regarding massages are people complaining about how they didn't get what they wanted because people couldn't read their minds, so just talk with them about what you want and they will help make it happen, it took me a few massage therapists to find the ones I really liked for what I needed! Even if you tell them the type of massage you like when you schedule they can usually pair you with someone that is suited to you! There are always the handful that wine about "not getting a discount" or even a free session, but you'll never get rid of those people, especially in Utah County. This place has the most diverse therapists that can give you what you need/want. Let's talk about the float... The first time I did it I was skeptical... I didn't know what to expect... But it was awesome! Now, like they said it might take some getting used to to get the full benefits (i.e. multiple attempts) but after a few floats I found that it really does relax you and help you like they say! I'm sold. Some have complained about it being dirty or a ring around the float tub, and if this was a bathtub at home or a hotel I would agree, but the concentration of salts in this float is what leaves the ring, not soap scum or dirty body leftovers, they drain and filter the water after each float (unless someone decides to urinate in it then they have to completely change out the water, salts and have it scrubbed down and rinsed which actually will carry a hefty charge to the culprit who peed, which goes to show how well they check the cleanliness of the float after each use.) Just understand people that bacteria cannot live in such a salty environment. Now their pedicures, manicures and facials are also amazing! The environment and care and detail they put into these services are awesome! I have never had a bad experience here with any service... Having said that, there are some people I prefer over others but that's just a matter of preference! Another review has insinuated that I have some sort of connection with the owner of the spa, and this convoluted connection with said owner is the reason for me leaving a review and refuting some of the claims I have heard others say both on Yelp and other review leaving forums. This is completely false. My review has nothing to do with whoever owns the spa and everything to do with my experiences here and the services and professionalism I have received! So I would suggest revising your public review to exclude my Yelp name from it, and stick to facts you can prove not things you have speculated based on no evidence whatsoever... Now, to summarize... Allie is the massage therapist I saw at Summit Spa and Float in Spanish Fork and she is there Tuesdays and Fridays. She has a lot of expertise in different areas of the massaging world. I have had a lot of deep tissue massages in my life and she was by far the best one I have ever gone too. She is very knowledgeable about her work and products she uses and educates her clients on what they can do to help themselves when they aren't on her table. She is compassionate towards her clients, what she does, and makes the whole massage experience comfortable whether you want to be butt naked or if you want to leave your underwear on or if you want your butt massaged (feels so good.) I have been here 3 times for 3 different services and unfortunately had a bad experience at all of them. I did a float and the lights and music didn't work so I sat there and listened to people walk around the spa in the dark for an hour and a half. I told them when I checked out and all they did was say sorry. I came here for a massage and listened to one of the therapists sniffle her snot every 3 seconds (not exaggerating, I sat and counted for an hour listening to it) the whole massage. I came here for eyelashes and while the lady was very professional she worked SO slow and hardly put any lashes on and half of them she glued to my bottom lashes. I had called the day before and confirmed with two difference employees the price would be $55 and when I checked out it was $88 because of a fee for my first time which is understandable and fine but both employees I talked to should have told me that. I have two massages scheduled coming up but I'll be cancelling. read more

First, I NEVER leave negative reviews, it's just not something I wish to do, but this experience was bad enough I feel like I need to. We initially booked their Park City location for our girls retreat, and when we showed up for our facials the door was locked. Upon calling, we found out that they had accidentally booked us at their Spanish Fork location because their park city phone automatically transfers to their other location if no one answered. HUGE disappointment for the 3 of us, as it was the highlight of our weekend. 2 of us rebooked for the Spanish Fork location the next week. Let's start with the facial. You know it's bad if you are counting down the minutes until it's over. The chair I was laying on was so uncomfortable I had a headache by the end and the whole experience just wasn't good. Both my sister and I left to go to dinner with sticky pieces of the exfoliant still on our faces and just felt gross (we are not picky girls either). Now for the float....after explaining instructions, her eyes got big and she apologized as she fished out a hair. Before undressing I looked inside the float only to discover TONS of floating hairs everywhere (long and short) and nasty particles on the surface. I declined getting in and she apologized saying the appointments had been booked too closely together that day (since it's on the get out pass) and it didn't give it enough time to filter things out. I'm sorry, but that is so disgusting. If that is truly the case, you need to inform people and give them a chance to reschedule, not lead them through the process of getting in and hope they don't notice. I was offered 2 free floats for as an apology, but there is no way I am going to use them. I can't say anything about their massages, as I didn't get one, but when it comes to floats and facials, I would steer clear. read more

I was in town for the holidays and was gifted a massage at Summit Spa and Float. I had been having a lot of pain in my right hip and shoulder for a couple of weeks. My massage with David was on Saturday by Sunday I had no pain in my hip or shoulder, the pain was totally gone. Thank you David. Highly recommend this spa.
