Great PTA organization, and lots of completely educational field trips that the kids enjoy. One of their teachers even got nominated on Hometown Hero, and won! The school is small, but mighty. My overall review of the school is 'Go Mustangs!' (A mustang is their mascot)

There is a growing homelessness and drug addiction problem which is bringing in mental illness and crime. Housing is a tough find in the area as well. Overall I would say it's somewhat safe but need stories never used to take place in the town but there have been a few major ones in recent. The school itself is safe with a camera and locked down facility. It's visual release of children is nice in knowing that they won't be released to someone they don't know. The trick here is....PARKING!!!! If you don't show up AT least 15 minutes early, good luck! The teachers are great with the kids. I volunteer at times and notice that the volunteers here help make it a solid school. There's a great support system for these hard working teachers that you can see in the kids education. It's a coin toss on the area because it'll eventually put the school at risk which is why it received 4 stars and not 5.

Well... we moved to our current house because we wanted our kids to grow up in Puyallup Schools…read more Our oldest son and daughter went to Brouillet Elementary. Our experience started off strong as we had some really good teachers but after a new principle took over many of them jumped ship. After a very disappointing and ridiculous approach to the pandemic, we left for private school. We felt that after nearly suffocating our kids for year and a half, we were DONE. Enduring the combination of far left progressive politics infused in the classroom and oblivious approach to child development, it was apparent that, to the administration, our kids were seen as $ signs and political statements, not as people. As far as teachers, there are some VERY good people who work in this district. We have many friends who teach in district and are AMAZING in spite of their environment and the BS they put up with. Now, I would give the teachers overall a 3 star because our experience was so bipolar. One year our son had a really great teacher, who challenged him, held him accountable and pushed him to grow. The next his teacher stopped showing up after the first week. Literally no showed, leaving the whole class in disarray. Ultimately, we felt that the "luck of the draw" approach was absurd, and we subsequently left. Private school is a major sacrifice but far better, very enriching with HIGH expectations for personal responsibility. We will never go back to Puyallup Schools.

I was hoping this could have been a bus for a sports team needing to go someplace early, but instead we are given this. I am honestly disappointed in both school district and whoever sets up charter buses. You promised us a charter bus, we deserve that charter bus. Thank you.

A preschool for 1 & 2 year old's!!!…read more When I started the program last year with my 2 year old, I didn't really understand it; the whole learning-through-play, the parent education, the committees, Bates affiliation, and the real meaning of co-op/cooperative. But this one-day-a-week school really changed the way I am as a parent. This is my second year at the co-op, since I signed up my 1 year old. My daughter's love the sensory table-it changes often; cornmeal, rice, dry pasta, water, potato flakes, lentils, oatmeal, and more. The toys around the classroom are constantly rotated and every single toy has a specific purpose-nothing was picked up from Toys-R-Us because it looked pretty or was on sale. There is a lot of thought behind every detail. What motor skills are they using and what are they learning. The teachers are so lovely and sweet. The epitome of preschool teachers, seriously. I liked having the parent educators, because I constantly had questions about how to handle my rambunctious daughter. Parents don't go and simply sit and chat, but are led in discussions with your child and their age in mind, so it's all directed towards you being able to apply it now. This isn't a traditional sit-down-and-learn-letters sort of preschool. Midland really emphasizes the importance of play. As a parent, you learn the importance of play too, and how much children are actually learning while playing, which I was completely unaware of. My only regret is not starting this program with my first daughter when she was 1 years old.

A small cooperative preschool listed in the Midland area of Pierce County. Midland cooperative…read morereally excels at its mission. Fostering a environment for children to be able to learn about themselves and the world with other children in the class. Teachers Erin and Jennie lead their classrooms with great care and thought. My son cole loves his teacher. I was able to attend a class and saw how he interacted with the other children and the teacher, and could tell he was in great hands. Midland follows a fairly similar schedule. Free play time to start, then the parents go and have their 'education' while the kids and the teacher play and work on activities. After this it is time to clean up and have a snack. Finally there circle time for songs. This is a wonderful space and with such caring and attention by the teachers and staff, it really feels great knowing there are places like this out there. As a parent however, there are expectations that you help out during the classrooms and on various boards and committees. Cooperatives offer a less costly alternative compared to non-cooperative pre schools where the costs are higher, but there is less parent involvement.
