My mom has macular degeneration, which severely affects her ability to see, and when she politely asked the front desk staff for help filling out her paperwork, she was coldly told she would have to do it herself or reschedule. She did her best to fill out what she could, and while she was still trying, the receptionist loudly yelled across the waiting room asking if she was done yet. When my mom replied that she wasn't, the woman shouted back that she would need to reschedule and would be charged for a missed appointment. This public humiliation reduced my mother to tears. When she approached the front desk again to explain that she had asked for help, she was told it wasn't their problem. My mother left heartbroken and embarrassed, slamming the clipboard down and vowing not to return. To add insult to injury, the very next day she received a certified letter from the office stating that due to her unprofessional behavior toward the staff, they would be dismissing her from their practice and would no longer refill any of her prescriptions. The sheer cruelty and lack of compassion shown here is beyond comprehension -- especially toward an elderly patient with a disability. No one deserves to be treated this way, least of all a vulnerable, elderly patient simply asking for a little kindness and assistance. I would strongly caution anyone, especially those with special needs or elderly loved ones, to think twice before trusting this office with your care.
