Wow! What a nice office and staff. Dr. Ransom actually wanted to learn a bit about me. Everyone was so helpful from getting my Careington Dental Plan set up to getting my tooth pulled. I stopped into the office just to see it and was given an appointment the same day! I almost wanted to ask them what planet they're from. I've never had such pleasant and respectful treatment from a dentist's office. There was 1 problem but it's with Yelp's directions link. It shows the correct street address but brought me to a private subdivision when I added it to my gps. Thank God I found the right location. Following dental work here (dental implant) there were numerous problems completing the implant with Dr. Odia. As a result I left this dentist in an attempt to complete the implant work however this too failed. At that time I was told that the implant was originally placed too high so a crown would not take so whatever I left the implant alone as is and have had a gap in that area. Unfortunately now I am having issues with the site and have been told that the implant is in my sinus cavity and will likely need major surgery to repair. Getting work done at this office has been a costly mistake several times over. read more

I can say that I regret big time let Dr Odia work on my mouth, I went fo check an infection that I had, I was told that he cannot save my two molars so he recommended two implants, I was very concerned not having my two molar's so I decided to get it done, so a year later he put my crowns , they were bothering me, I was in pain for a long time Dr Odia told me that it was normal and I needed time to heal, So I decide to give it time, I was also very concerned about my lower front teeth he recommended veneer's To fix the spaces in between so I say yes to six veneers an two more crows , big mistake! when he finally put my veeners they were super high I couldn't eat at all went to him and told my problem, so he file my veneers it got a little better but I was in pain not only on my implants but also my veneers I went back and when I told him how I felt he answered that everything was in my head he really make cry. I told hi that I was in pain so he decide to file more, my problem wasn't resolved. I ended with six veneers two crowns and two implants that not only still painful but diferente color fro my veneers I was promised that he was going to change the crowns in the implants and he never did, I paid him over $14.000 .00 yes fourteen thousand dollars! for a poor job , I must say that the ladies in the front desk and the doctor helpers were very nice , I definitely do not recommend Dr Odia, to me he only care about the many . read more

Went here a couple years ago (left a review on google too but came here to leave another one) dentist said I had "3 cavities needed 2 fillings and a crown" I went to a different dentist and got a 2nd opinion and I only had 1 small cavity. Nothing irritated me more than that I advise you to go somewhere else! read more

I am so glad I made the drive here. I am from Michigan and when I moved to Texas I did not have a dentist. Many years w went by and my teeth continued to get worse. A friend of mine told me about this office. I will have to admit, I thought she was crazy. Why would I drive almost an hour to see a dentist?? Well I had a filling fall out and I was in so much pain. I knew the tooth had to go. I also had another tooth on the same side that i wanted out. So i decided to make the drive. I was so nerves as I sat in that chair waiting. Alechia the dental assistant was so sweet. She kept talking to me and doing her best to keep me calm. After the exam Dr. Holinbeck informed me I needed 3 teeth in total removed. We decided the original 2 for sure and if there was time we would do the 3rd. Well they hooked me up to the gas and started the numbing procedure. The top tooth was numb and out before I knew it. The bottom tooth was the problem. No matter how many shots she gave it would not get numb. She informed me that the infection I had would cause that. Well she did not give up! On the last injection she hit the hot spot. Oh boy talk about pain I never felt before. I was crying, sweating and came out of my shoes. Dr. Holinbeck and Alechia felt so bad,but it was not their fault. They just held me and wiped my tears until I was calm. I told them it is OK, I know they did not know and was not mad at them. I was just glad it was finally numb. In the end I am glad I went. Even though it is an hours drive, I have found my new dentist. I am very satisfied. read more

Sun Dental Group - Their card - General Dentistry Near Me - Deer Park, Texas

First of all, I have never in my life been in this dentist office before. I went there yesterday because I broke my front tooth and my normal dentist office was closed. I have had hip replacements so I keep antibiotics on hand at all times because for the last 4 years I have to take a certain amount of them before any dental procedure and cleaning that I have done. I have never had an issue in the 4 years I have had my surgery. I took my medication an hour before my 10:00 appointment. They called me at 9:45 telling me I didn't have insurance. I called my benefits line to see if something happened to my insurance and it had not, I was still covered. I called them back and they told me that they called the number on file. I asked them what file they are talking about because this was my first time there and I haven't even made it in there yet..They told me to come on in while they sort it all out. Apparently they found a file for my husband from two years ago and was calling that number because 2 years ago he was on my insurance plan. I don't have that same insurance and his is separate from mine now. Nobody bothered to ask about that in the first place. Finally the insurance is straightened out so I go in by 10:15 due to this hiccup. Now, I'm in the chair, they took a full set of X-rays, the dentist is a sweet as she can be (no complaint there) and we have a plan that she is going to temporarily fill my tooth for now and we make a plan for a crown and other dental work in the future. She then went to help another patient while they get me prepped. An hour later the assistant and receptionist comes in and tells me they need my doctor's name and number that did my hip replacement 4 years ago so they can get an authorization to do the work. An hour after that, the dentist comes back in and tells me they cannot reach the doctor and it will be next week before they can fix my front tooth that has a huge gap because it is broken and I have to go to work like this!!! I was so mad because they wasted 2..5 hours of my time when they should have told me all of this up front. I will never go back to this dentist. I called my husband really upset and before I made it home, he had called around and found another dentist I had never been to before and they got me right in and told me they have never heard of anyone needing a release from a surgeon to do dental work before. They said normally you take antibiotics an hour before the dentist and that is it and some dentist don't even make you do that although, I would rather be safe than sorry, it is only antibiotics so I choose to take them. I just found my new dentist and it is not Sun Dental! I had to give them 1 star but that is because the dentist was sweet, she just didn't do anything for me. read more

Dr Odia and his staff are FABULOUS!!! I had two teeth surgically removed and implants. I'm an extremely nervous patient and they put me at ease from start to finish! Dr Odia was very gentle and I've had no problems during my recovery. Not only all this; his estimate was thousands less than Castle Dental (who already has enough of my money). read more

Dentist and staff is very nice. Only giving one star because the receptionist desk is right by the window there is not a glass or anything. While verifying insurance the receptionist stated loudly my name, date of birth and my SOCIAL. The entire waiting room could hear and that is against HIPPA. Someone could easily steal my information. There needs to be another phone to verify personal information on or a glass window installed. Who knows how many peoples information has been heard. read more

I was scheduled for filling of 4 teeth about a month ago and was quoted about $65 for it (I have DentaQuest insurance which covers 80%). Today, I went in for my appointment and was told I had to pay $240. I showed them the quote they gave me. The lady in the front office, who I must acknowledge has always been nice, asked for some time to work on it, I said "sure", gave her the quote I had, and took my seat. After a while, the doctor (Odia) came out and tried to explain me that she entered codes as if I was a self-paying customer the first time, so that was wrong and the new one, although it was ridiculously high, was right. I asked him if it is not the same service. He said yes, trying to obscure with the "code" story again. I asked him shouldn't it be same price for same service, and why would I be penalized because I had insurance. Codes blah blah, which I did not want to listen. Obviously I was upset. I asked for my papers so I could head out.. Then something happened which further upset me. He said he could not give them to me. My papers got confiscated!!. I am still having hard time to conceive how this be possible in anywhere near humane, near civil place. I cannot speak about his medical abilities, but from business perspective you might be in good shape if you are a) a cash-paying customer, or b) a insurance-paying customer not being aware of the hoax (bumping up first and then discounting). Otherwise, you might feel like in you are Nigeria. I would not be submitting a review if I had a good service, so to be fair I gave him 2 stars. Would not give a star otherwise. read more

Yesterday I took my 4 year old daughter to Sun Dental on Center St Deer Park. I only went in for a check up, it didn't go well. They took X-Rays of her teeth, then the dentist Dr. Tape came in and started looking at her teeth. She said she has a cavity in between her two front teeth, then she started taking to the dental assistant about and abscess behind her front teeth and maybe extraction is necessary. They talked back and forth until I interrupted and asked " what do you mean extract?!" She said she has an abscess behind her two front teeth and she thinks removing her two front teeth is the best option. Well first I was upset because I was being talked around about this abscess, and talking about removing teeth from my 4 year old didn't sit well with me, so I said I wanted a second opinion and they offered to see the lead dentist at the office in two weeks, them I was on my way. As I got in the car I thought why is this abscess not being treated with any antibiotics?!? Well I called all the dentist that was recommended and couldn't get in. So I went with my insurance recommendation for Lovette Dental, the only pediatric dentist was in Baytown. So off I went, I saw Richard Duong, they took there own X-Rays and he came in with a perplexed look on his face. He asked what the problem was, he looked in her mouth and presses in the teeth I say were the issue, and he looked at her file and said I don't see any thing. WHAT?!?! He said she has great teeth, good roots and NO, let me repeat NO abscess. Excuse me. Then he said he doesn't see any cavities either?!?! Wait a second, no cavities?!? So sun dental, no wait Dr. Tape wanted to remove my daughters teeth with nothing wrong. Just think if I didn't get that second opinion? How many other moms have this happened to? Pleas do not take your children here, I'm glad my mother intuition kicked in and wanted that second opinion. read more

Dr. Holinback is great. She did three crowns for me and the work was far superior to another dentist's work.

I pay a lot for my dental insurance and expect a certain level of treatment, as this is a medical practice, not a hair salon. Even though all the employees were very nice I was "hurried" through my initial appointment and did not receive a thorough cleaning. I still have some stains my polish was incomplete, and no flouride treatment was offered. I would suggest that Sun Dental should try to "upgrade" their level of medical professionalism. read more

Horrible place. First visit they left me sitting in a room for an hour and a half past my appointment time, waiting to have my teeth cleaned and I was told I had a cavity even though I had no tooth pain or discomfort whatsoever. Second visit, I had a filling done (my first one ever) for that "cavity" and I have had extreme pain in that tooth ever since. My third visit was today to have that tooth looked at and hopefully get some relief. First, they were all about verifying my insurance like they were going to bill me to fix a tooth that they messed up and I was once again left in the chair for over an hour and no one looked at my tooth. After waiting that long, the office was practically deserted because everyone left to go to lunch. I finally left after waiting an hour and 15 min. When I complained to the girl at the desk and told her that I couldn't wait any longer and that I'd have to call back to reschedule, she didn't offer to reschedule it for me right then and there plus I got no apology whatsoever for having been left waiting. read more
