I have been tanning at the suntan city since it opened several years ago. It is always clean and organized. There is a pretty good staff turnover but everyone is usually very helpful and friendly. There is an app to check in early to make your tanning experience faster. By having a membership with SunTanCity you can utilize their tanning beds in many locations throughout the states. read more

Between the hidden fees, skin rashes, and misinformation about the nature of a MONTHLY membership, you should avoid this franchise and this location. A $49.99 will cost you at least $140 because of "their billing system" and "how they process things, unless you want to give us direct access to your bank account". So after $140+ payments and several months of bickering over a single month membership, I find myself still a reluctant member who doesn't have the ability to cancel. Also, you're going to get a rash from the their cleaner if your skin has even the slightest sensitivity. Just avoid them. read more

Literally the WORST spray tan I've ever received at a SunTan City! I don't have freckles and I look like I'm covered in them (like really dark freckles). I've been spray tanning at Sun Tan City for years and the girl at the counter told me "everyone that uses 12 looks like that but it'll be better tomorrow" seriously?! I recently got a tanning package from here and I was visiting here last Saturday to upgrade and go in the instant bed. After I scanned my card, they stated it was going to be 20 minutes until it was ready, turns out the bed just needed to be cleaned; even though I had seen no one come out when I got there. The employee was gone for about 2 minutes and then came back and told me the bed was ready. I go in there put on my lotion and get the bed ready and when I go to get in the bed I felt a clumpy sticky feeling right where my butt goes. I looked and you could see smudges and clumps of tanning lotion all over the bed. This location is close to my house and also has the red light therapy which is why I choose to go to Smyrna. Needless to say that completely grossed me out and I will not be back to that location. I spent good money on a yearly tanning package and for the beds to not be cleaned especially such an expensive one is disgusting. Why were they not cleaned when the last person left? They were just folding towels when I walked in so its not like they were super busy. I'm completely grossed out. Check your beds before you lay in them!!! read more

Typically I have a really good experience here. However, today when I checked in, the girl kept trying to sell me stuff after I told her I had plenty. I get it, I really do. I'm in sales management for a large company, but nothing is more aggravating than telling someone nicely "no" on 5+ occasions and they keep trying to push products on you, going as far as looking up my prior lotion transactions. I always buy my products from your salons because I know product is a money maker, even though I pay more as a consumer and others make a little commission off of it. I'm commission based as well, so that's why I do it. If your staff is going to be this pushy on products, I will just start buying my lotions off Amazon where they are lots cheaper. I had seen the various reviews and wondered if I should try another location. I'm glad I didn't. I spoke to Steven, the manager, over the phone to get a better idea of the memberships that they offer. He was very nice to walk me through them and answered all of my questions. He then suggested that I stop by whenever I had time to take a look at the various tanning beds etc. I decided no time like the present and went in ASAP. I was greeted by two wonderful ladies at the front. They both assisted and explained everything. I went ahead and purchased a membership and started my first evening with a tan. At first I doubted how long they suggested I go in for (16 mins) and then I finally just went with it lol. I was glad I did because I was lightly pink. They are very knowledgeable and helpful. I was impressed. Not once did anyone pressure me into purchasing anything nor was anyone rude. I've been back several times now and each person up at the counter has been fantastic. All are helpful and courteous. Definitely give them a chance especially if you are looking to get your base tan going during this pandemic and before everything really opens back up. read more

I signed a 12 month contract in Jan 2019 for sun tan city. I stopped tanning the end of June 2019 due to medical issues. I knew my payments would continue until Dec 2019 even though I was not able to tan and I was fine with that because of the contract I signed. In Oct 2019 I called sun tan city to make sure my contract would end in Dec 2019. I was told it would and didn't think anything else about it. In Jan 2020 my bank account was changed for another membership plus the yearly fees for a total of $27.95. I called Sun Tan City on Jan 3, 2020 and spoke with one of the managers, Steven. I explained what was going on and he told me the only way I can cancel my membership was to come into the salon. Why didn't anyone tell me that when I called in Oct to make sure my contract would end and payments would stop? After speaking to Steven and getting nowhere the conversation ended and I hung up. A few minutes later he called me back and told me he would cancel my membership right then, and he'd call corporate to see if I could receive a refund. He said he would give me a call once he had an answer. I thanked him and hung up. On Jan 7, 2020 I still had not heard back from him. I called the salon again and asked to speak to Steven. Another manager answered the phone and said he was not available but she could look at my account. She stated it was still active and had not been cancelled. I called the corporate office and explained my situation. I was told that I'd be emailed a link to cancel my account but they could not refund my money because I didn't cancel my account before Jan 1, 2020. Again, I called in Oct and was told my account would be canceled at that time. So all in all, Sun Tan City refuses to issue me my $27.95 refund. $27.95 is nothing to them but makes a difference to me. I guess good customer service is also nothing to them and again would make a big difference to me. read more

I've been here once before 2019 just to tan , it's the closest to my new house. I will never be back lazy front desk didn't want to help or look up my info. Looked up wrong person she told me i didn't have an account then i did and was opened in feb and all my tans expired. Trying to change me 30$ for tan when it's .20 cent tan. I went to the car called my normal suntan city on Nolensville rd and they found me! Gave me a spray tan for my account not being handled properly at other location. read more

RUDE RUDE RUDE! I came in around 8:45 pm my understanding was that they close at 9:00 pm. HALEY did not greet me at all kept looking at the clock after she blantly asked me what do i want! Seriously get some personality and customer service skills. As i went to the fast bed i heard the ladies at the front laughing when she didnt even crack a smile in my face. This location is always terribly packed, the staff is overwhelmed, and seem to be undertrained. The spray tanning booths usually do not work properly, requiring them to be out of service. As someone who used to work here, the staff is not at all trained on even simple maintenance of the booths or the beds, eliminating the option to fix the problem without shutting the room down. Because the staff is so frantically trying to check customers in and managing with a lack of available rooms, the result is the customer service being mediocre. read more

My wife and I showed up at 7:52 pm on a Saturday. The doors were locked and both girls stood and looked at us and told us they were closed and then turned around and walked away. The sign says they close at 8. All my wife wanted was a quick spray tan that would've taken less than the 8 minutes that were left on the open signage. 4 years ago I ran a suntan city salon and the rule was as long as you're in the door before close you could tan. I'm sad to see the customer is not important anymore. I would strongly encourage the district manager to get involved and pull tape to validate what I happened to us. I was an avid tanner at this location before moving last year. Now that we're back home I stopped in to utilize they're deal on spray tans.. I never had a problem previously but today was a different story. Cassandra acted as if the worst thing in the world was working on a Sunday. I get it, it sucks. But being rude to your customers is definitely not the answer... one of the worst customer service experiences I've ever had. I've been a long time Suntan city customer in different cities. So I've seen some great customer service and I've seen some down right terrible service. And this Suntan city here Smyrna has probably the worst customer service I have ever experienced. I paid for the entire year of tanning for the basic bed but at a different location who had amazing customer service, I was sad to move away from that one. So my first time in this location I automatically got the vibe that the employees were annoyed that I was there and they didn't even bother to greet me. But I scanned in and told them what I wanted to do and they hardly said anything to me the entire time. Being my first time at that location I asked where the bed was that they put me in which thy immediately looked at me like I was dumb and didn't say a word. So I just had to find the room myself so I kinda felt stupid. I'd almost rather drive the 40 minutes to the other salon I've been going to where the people actually love their job and care about their customers then this one in Smyrna and receive shitty service. read more
