Sun Valley Equine Hospital, LLC is an equine only veterinary practice located in Yakima, Washington. We believe in delivering veterinary care that makes a positive, measurable difference in the well-being and athletic success of your horse. History

Established in 1974.

Since 1974 our clinic has served the Yakima Valley. We have gone through changes in ownership and name but our dedication to quality care have always remained constant. Sun Valley Equine Hospital, L.L.C. originated as Central Washington Equine and Livestock Clinic in 1974 when Dr. Michael Byrne constructed a state-of-the-art facility to accommodate the needs of local horse and cattle owners. The practice primarily serviced the local Thoroughbred industry and specialized in reproduction, but also provided full services to all types of horses and some cattle. The practice was sold to Dr. Denome in 2001 and he changed the name to Central Washington Equine Clinic, LLC. Fast forward to 2014 when Dr. Jennifer King purchased the clinic and renamed it Sun Valley Equine Hospital, LLC. Dr. King plans to update and expand the services the hospital offers while continuing the tradition of high quality, compassionate care the practice is well known for.

Meet the Business Owner: Dr. Jennifer King -.

Dr. King grew up on a working ranch near Coulee City, where her family raises commercial beef cattle and AQHA horses. Dr. King is a WSU alumnus, and earned her DVM from the College of Veterinary Medicine in 2009. After graduating, she completed a rotating internship in equine surgery, medicine, and ambulatory practice at Oakridge Equine Hospital in Edmond, Oklahoma. Dr. King then returned to WSU for a year to refine her skills in diagnosis and treatment of lameness problems while performing a fellowship in equine othropedic sports medicine. During her internship and fellowship she also performed clinical research and published a study on MRI findings in 232 horses with lameness localized to the fetlock region without a radiographic diagnosis. She was chosen to present this research at the American Association of Equine Practitioners Annual Convention in San Antonio and at the WSVMA Annual Conference. Dr. King has also contributed to articles in Western Horsemen and The Horse.
