The Sunbusters team did an amazing job tearing down my old, rotting wooden pergola that was partially covering our deck. They yanked the foliage that was growing on it that was old and a fire hazard, and hauled it away. Then they transformed it into this beautiful waterproof cover with a ceiling fan and dimming lights and they even were able to add additional outlets in the legs so that we could have easier access to electricity! During the planning process, I thought I just wanted to have a flat cover, but they suggested doing the gable roof where it pitches in the middle and then we could add our fan because it followed the roof line. I never would've thought of that and I love that we did it. They were fast, they communicated well, they pulled permits for us. The quality is well worth the price! We could not have been more happy with the service and quality we received from Sunbusters. Our Salesman, Alan, arrived on time and clearly explained all the options for the various products offered. He listened carefully to the design we had in mind and sketched out exactly what we wanted. We appreciated that he was thinking about the color scheme and how it would connect with the different colors of our walls and trim. When the products we ordered arrived, the office called us to make an appointment for a final review of the job. The tech checked all parameters of the job and suggested some great changes that enhanced the look of the final patio cover. The two techs that were scheduled for installation arrived on time and were able to complete the job in a matter of 1 full day. They had some suggestions for modifying the layout and we agreed. Great communication from the installers. We did have some very small concerns with a couple of the products and the head tech came back within a few days to make it right. I hired this company to install a porch in my back yard on 07/19/24. I called several times to get some sort of update, since I never heard from anyone after my deposit check was cashed and they received my contract. No return calls, and apparently the person handling my file was not in the office when I'd call. On 08/23/24 I finally got an update via email that they had questions on my floor plan. This was a whole month after I submitted my approved contract and no updates. On 08/28/24- I was told by Kariem that it was anticipated that by the second week of September we'd get a full approval of the permit. On 09/14/24- After again, radio silence. I sent a follow up email. On 09/16/24 I get an answer that they should hear from the County that same day or the next day (09/17). On 09/19/24 I sent a follow up email since I didn't hear from them. That same day Kariem emails me that the county might make us go through a Planning Commission Review, which apparently is a few $1,000's more and a very long wait time. Great! I am told that I will hear back the next day (09/20). Of course I hear nothing, 09/30/24- I sent yet ANOTHER follow up email. I am told by Kariem that they were supposed to hear yesterday (09/29) and that they will follow up this morning and get back to me asap. 10/01/24- I have yet to hear back. This has been almost 3 months. I get that Discovery Bay may have a lengthy process, however, I would feel alot better if they communicated any progress or lack thereof, so I am not continously checking in and feeling ignored. I received a competing bid from a reputable company at the same time as Sunbusters and I really regret not doing business with them instead. Update: 10/21/24: have heard nothing on my permit. Sent a follow up email as I always do, and got a vague response that they'll let me know when they hear something. read more

I have had three patio covers installed by Allen and the Sunbuster crew. All have turned out very nice. clean up is ok when finished. one issue I have had with two of the covers is the gutters all leak at the seems. They come out and put on more calking and they still leak. The calking they smear all over the seams on the roof look like a 5 year old did it. The covers them selves are nice and hold up well. I have always went with the insulated type for less noise when raining. My covers are a few years old now and still look nice. read more

They call themselves a customer focused company, but customers are the last thing on their mind. They take your time and money and do NOTHING, not even call or provide updates. We worked with Kariem and he promised a lot, including potentially having everything completed by Jan 24, but as it turned out that was only halfway through. Let's start from the beginning, mid-October, after about a month of going back and forth with Kariem and actually having to speak to some person named Zak since Kariem couldn't be bothered with speaking with his customer, I finally signed the contract to get the work done. Was told that their typical installation took between 4-6 weeks include the permit. Being that it was November and holidays usually slow things down, I was prepared to wait until January to get the patio cover installed. No updates until mid-January when I reached out to them asking for an ETA. They said in January, 3 months after I signed the contract, they were going to submit the permit to the county. So we're already 3 months behind schedule, so I figured there was no point to keep reaching out when it took a while to get the permit cleared through the county. Waited for 6 weeks and now early March, I reached out for an update on ETA thinking we'd be days away, but come to find out, on 1/23/24 the county updated the permit asking for additional information from the homeowner (me). 6 weeks this update has been waiting for homeowner information but not once did Sunbusters reach out to me. They submitted the permit and until today I wasn't even aware of the permit number. If I hadn't reached out I would have been waiting for an eternity. Let's see what they say, but right now, this is how things are with this "customer focused" company. read more

Jesse and Trevor came to our home bright and early and had a 24' x 10' patio completed by noon. They were very well organized and attaching the patio to the house. They got the loudest part done in the first half hour it seemed. They cleaned everything up with a shop vac, very professional. The craftsmanship of the installation is excellent and everything is lined up. This insulated aluminum patio is so strong two men are able to walk on the roof.
