I compared 4 companies for my patio cover with their prices and quality of their work and this company has the cheapest price with best quality. He is the owner of the company "Bright Ideas" so he can give huge discount that will meet your budget but will not compromise his company . He has free consultation, listens attentively but will suggest what he thinks will look better for your house, (ofcourse you will still have the final say.) Mark is very kind, friendly and understanding. All the materials needed was delivered to our house but we have to delay the project for a month as we are waiting for HOA approval before starting the project and he is flexible and waited until we are ready. I called for a patio quote from Bright Ideas Design Center and Mark came to my house on our appointment day and he was very helpful, knowledgeable, and took his time to explain every detail to ensure he understood what I wanted. He made recommendations and we talked about different ideas and he provided me a quote. I took his quote to match with Sun Busters and they were more expensive and actually talked bad about Mark and his company which I didn't like. It's not appropriate or necessary to bad mouth your competitor if your work will justify what your company stands for. SunBusters had great work as well but in the end I went with Mark because he was more genuine and professional and he was not pushy about closing the deal. He did check in with me because he wanted my business, and he told me that too, but he was not overbearing. Mark came back out before the installation to remeasure and to look at SunBusters quote to see what they were talking about and what they recommended versus what Mark recommend. He explained to me why he wouldn't do what SunBusters recommended and I agreed. Mark and his team delivered the pieces of our patio a couple of days before the installation. We left it on our patio/back yard until the day of install. Billy, was the main installer that works with Mark. Billy was nice and professional and you can tell he knew what he was doing as they installed my patio and fan. They were able to finish the job in a two days but really it was one full day and then one hour the next day only. They installed a fan on my new patio and everything works great and looks great as well. I would recommend Mark and Billy to anyone who is looking for a patio installation because we LOVE our new patio and somehow my backyard/patio looks bigger now too. Mark was super friendly when he came out to discuss our awning. He was prompt and as soon as our supplies arrived, we were set up to start construction (a little earlier than expected actually). The two guys that installed/built the awning were professional, but nice enough to pet our dog when she snuck out (she wanted to be out there the whole time, but we had to keep her away from her new best friends). In April, I contacted Mark owner of Bright Ideas to install a allumniwood cover in our backyard. He immediately came out and we went over exactly what I wanted. On June 3, 2020, Mark came back out to the house for a confirmation of work visit and to pick up a check for 25% of the total cost of work and he set the date of installation - July 27, 2020. He was here for over two hours mostly taking about his family - daughter, softball, San Lois Obispo, his business and even former and current wives. I felt as if I was talking to one of my brothers and thought what a nice man. On Sunday July 26, 2020, I reached out to his company, left a message and then again Monday morning to confirm what time they would be arriving. Around 9:45 Mark returned my call and he started to scream at me, was absolutely horrible and condescending on the phone. Immediately, he cancelled the job. Right then i realized he most likely never ordered the product. It was too large of a job to have ordered and then cancel knowing the amount of product coming in. I tried my hardest to work with him for a later date (which would have been better for me) but he outright refused. Four days later, Friday, we were getting ready to leave for a preplanned camping trip, I received a check in the mail from his company. We deposited the check on Tuesday, on our way home from camping. An hour after we got home the postman comes to our door and hands me a two day air USPS envelope. In it was a cancellation of contract letter and a new check. Anyway, first check bounced, I took the second check to his bank and was told by the manager that he had put a stop payment on it the same day he wrote it. Heads up - if you're okay with a business owner who is disrespectful to his clients, dishonest and isn't willing to work with his costumer, then this is the person for you! Ok where do I start.... Mark himself seems to be a nice guy. And the men has doing thr install do great work. I love the way our patio came out. However Mark did not get the city permit for the job. I had to keep calling him to follow up and given just about every excuse in the book on why he has not been able to get it. When he finally started the process of the permit, about 3 weeks after the job was done, the city had already been notified about our patio cover and I assume reported him, since on the day the cover was being inspected he told me he would probably lose his license due to my job. read more

We had this company installed quite a large awning in our backyard, the install went fine and a few things needed fixing and we have enjoyed using it. HOWEVER - AFTER having this unit for several years the roofing material that sealed it started to deteriorate and we contacted them multiple times to ask for a appt and quote to repair -- they NEVER CALLED BACK, after leaving several messages!!! When we finally did reach them - they picked up the phone, we were told they could get to us for several months and they were backed up many spots for NEW units to be installed. What can I say about these guys other than great things? Adding another chapter in my home improvement book, these guys were highly recommended by my concrete contractor, Callado Concrete. I was a little skeptical given that I'd plunked down so much money already for the house of my dreams, but alas I allowed him to at least give us a quote! The owner came out to scope our patio, take measurements and show me some photos of patio awnings they had installed previously. They use a material called Alumawood which looks like real wood but is made out of aluminum. He gave me an excellent quote and I decided it was worth it. This would complete my back yard once and for all so I figured what the heck. From start to finish the whole project took under half a month which being the not-so-patient guy I am, that was music to my ears! Not only did they install the perfect patio awning, they also installed lighting, an outdoor fan, a power switch and an outlet all of which were expertly integrated with the awning. Of course I had to buy the lights and fan separately but that wasn't a bother at all. Since all they do are awnings, I don't think I'll need their services again any time soon however they will come highly recommended for friends and family that would like the same. read more

He even stayed late on a Friday night at his design studio so that my husband could come view his product in person. The estimate we received was very reasonable. This company is awesome. My hubby is a carpenter and I been asking for 16 years for a patio cover. My brother in-aw had them come out and put a cover on his patio. I seen it and it looks just like wood. It is made out of aluminum and is called Alumawood . Mark, Billy, and Michael are on it. Their work is done so professionally. WOW!!! I have never seen such a well oiled team. Mark Sargent and his crew are awesome. Materials came; working crew showed up and that is all she wrote!!! Our patio cover is beautiful. It is great to know that someone sticks to the plan they were shown and conveys to his working crew. Patience all around. Mark matched his plan with what we wanted and everything was in place. Mark, Michael and Billy are awesome! Mark came by for a quote and actually was early! He took measurements, explained the install process (attached to stucco/flashing) and showed pictures of previous installs. Hands down I was impressed with his knowledge and any quiestion I had was explained thoroughly. I got the non-insulated cover with 2 lights & fan. I was called a 3-4 weeks later as they make the cover to the dimensions from the manufacturer. I received a call from Bright Ideas and they gave me notice that the cover was in and they could start the next day. Billy and Michael are fabulous installers, showed up on time and got right to work. I offered them waters but they had there water jugs ready LOL! Since they started mid-day on the install they came back on Saturday to finish up. One of the lights I had purchased was defective and didnt work. They offered to stick around so I could run to Home Depot while they clean up to get a replacement and didnt mind at all. By the time I returned, they had the patio spotless (prob even cleaner than it was before they arrived LOL!) We got the light installed and they carried on there weekend! We got our patio cover done last summer (it's taken me a while to catch up on writing Yelp reviews). However, the experience is still fresh in my mind. We did a half-lattice and half solid cover off the house, and then a freestanding cover over the BBQ island. We got 4 bids, and we decided to go with Bright Ideas, mainly because they were the best priced, and we trusted the product he showed us after we did our own research on it. We were not disappointed with any part of the experience. The installation began the week we were quoted (I think it was 2 days late, but we were given notice the week prior that the materials had come in late), the 2 installers who have done all of the Bright Ideas installations for years clearly know what they are doing, the work was done on time and to the standards we expected (my husband and I are both in the commercial construction industry, so we have a good sense of what to look for), and the site was well cleaned at the end. I know they have a showroom and from what others have said, it's an advantage to be able to go there. We actually didn't go to the showroom (just lazy), but I imagine that if you didn't know quite what you wanted, it would be good to have mockups available. There was another element to our experience which affected my rating. There was one very minor issue with something that occured during the installation, outside of the actual install. I contacted Mark about it after the work was completed, and he was very responsive and very professional in resolving the issue. Although I see our patio cover every day and love it, that issue getting resolved so quickly and so professionally was the last thing that happened, leaving the greatest impression. I would highly recommend this company, they do good work, they use a good product line, and although I laughed at some of the funny things Mark said while he was at our house (I found him to be a little scatterbrained at times, probably just a lot going on with appointments, etc..), in the end, I would definitely tell anyone who asked, "Call Mark!" read more
