We adore Sundae Best! We used to go here all the time when we had a place in NorthWildwood. That's right, it was so good we drove 20 minutes over on many summer nights. It is always busy, but I think that shows how good it is. The ice cream is homemade, and delicious, speaking of homemade the waffle cones are also and they are the best I've ever had! Every flavor of ice cream I've tried is great. If you can withstand the crowd to order, you're free to enjoy your delightful ice cream in their outdoor seating area, back at your car, or on a walk around town.

I cannot rave enough about this spot. Whether I'm ordering the Key Lime pie, Kohlers Donut which uses real pieces of donut, chocolate chip cookie dough or lucky charms (also uses real lucky charms) I'm always happy. Truly a top notch spot. Dog and family friendly. Parking in side or front of street. Can order ahead. Tables along side for eating. Best ice cream on the jersey shore.

Outdoor ordering for COVID. Lots of flavors. Good quality homemade ice cream. Friendly staff. I got the blueberry crumb, which is fresh blueberry ice cream (had pieces of whole berry throughout) with crumb topping from a local bakery folded in. Not too sweet, nice smooth texture. Nothing not to love. This location is nice as its set amongst all the lit trees along Dune Drive and there's seating. Small parking lot of 5-7 spaces, but we had no issues getting a spot.

We stumbled upon this shop after strolling along Dune Drive with our granddaughter. The place is adorable. The ice cream is delicious. I had the most adorable young man wait on me. My husband and I are big fans of TJ's homemade ice cream in Ocean City's garden section but this place is by far better and the prices are great. I had a kid size which is one scoop but seemed large to me for only $3.00. Do yourself a favor a go here. read more

They should rename Dune Street Ice Cream Street and declare Sundae Best the mayor. This is some of the best ice cream I've ever had. So fresh, so flavorful, so cold, so creamy. Anyone who says otherwise is a robot or a terrorist. read more

literally the best ice cream on the island!! as someone who is lactose intolerant, it is frustrating to be down the shore and not have any ice cream options BUT Sundae Best has soy vanilla ice cream!! I am so thankful that they are inclusive of all dietary restrictions and allow me to enjoy an ice cream during the summer! huge scoops at a very affordable price! if you have a dairy allergy, I would definitely recommend going here!! Definitely will be back! read more

I'm so glad this place has turned it around. In prior years, it, honestly, was not that great. Then, under the not so recent mgmt and location change, they've recaptured the magic. We love walking down here and getting some ice cream after dinner. The owner/mgr is usually on site and is a.) very friendly and helpful and b.) wants to make sure you're enjoying it. We've come down on off season week-ends and have been pleasantly surprised that they were open (yay!). We also enjoy the outdoor seating and atmosphere. I'm glad they've moved closer to downtown Avalon! read more

It's official. There is now no need to drive all the way up to Stone Harbor to get ice cream. While they don't have quite as many flavors, there are plenty. Quality over quantity! Avalon Mud is delicious, and my personal favorite. read more

This is the best ice cream that I have ever had in my entire life. The home made flavors tickle your taste buds in such an way that shakesphere himself couldn't craft a word to suit the sensation of joy that overwhelms you. The homemade waffle cones give the ice cream a perfectly crafted counterpart in its assault of any preconceived notion you had of good ice cream. My server laura could recite the ingredients of every single flavor off the top of her head without having to think about it, while managing to keep a friendly smile upon her face. This is the greatest ice cream I have ever had and has shattered my definition of good ice cream. I WILL be coming back to this wonderful establishment. read more

DELICIOUS and creative flavors!! I can't wait to try the peach! I enjoyed the peanut butter swirl and avalon mud (vanilla ice cream with chocolate flakes an peanut butter!) tonight! May be the best ice cream ice ever had. Today was my first experience here and I got Avalon Mud. The service was very quick, the food was very inexpensive. The people are very nice and also accommodate allergies very nice. Everyone in my group loved it. Also a poke stop nearby. Fellow customers are rude. BEST ICE CREAM ON THE ISLAND. read more

We LOVE coming to Sundae Best for ice cream! They are so many flavors to choose from. You have to take a number (deli style) when you arrive and there is usually a wait - but well worth it! Bring a quarter to put in the piano. Their website doesn't do them justice. read more

Home made ice cream in Avalon. I like the way they continue to rotate home made flavors and carry a variety of about 35 flavors. The scoop sizes are nice and the family/ staff that runs it are quite friendly. I typically take home a pint of my favorite flavors to enjoy back in PA. This may be the best ice cream I have had!! read more

Established in 1990.

Before 1990 it was a family operated business in a different location. Starting in 1990 Ed Galante and his family took over the business and continued the Homemade Ice Cream tradition. Sundae Best has grown into "the Best" Homemade Ice Cream Parlor in Avalon, NJ. Ed is at the shop daily and is always outside talking to new and old customers as they await their favorite flavor. His daughter Kim is the head ice cream creator and produces fan favorites and new recipes daily!

Sundae Best is seriously one of my favorite places in Avalon! They have two locations in town and both are absolutely amazing. We stop by every time we're there, sometimes more than once in a day! Their ice cream is hands-down the best. So creamy, so fresh, and they have such a great variety of flavors. I love that they're always mixing it up with new combos, but still keep the classics around. There's always something exciting to try. And I have to say their coffee is just as good as their ice cream. Their lattes are delicious, smooth, strong, and made with love. It's become my go-to coffee stop in town. Chris, the owner, and his family are the sweetest. You can tell they really care about their customers and put so much heart into what they do. It just feels good to support a place like this. If you're in Avalon, go to Sundae Best. You won't regret it! read more
