We had them tint our front windows in our RV and couldn't be more pleased! The front windshield of our motorhome is HUGE and they did a great job molding the tint to the curves perfectly! It has made a huge difference in the heat that comes in the coach from that huge windshield. They were professional and patient to get it just right. Have already recommended this company to others and will continue to do so. We will be taking our car in for tint next time we are in town. In the last two months I have had two cars tinted as summer heat approached. One was an E350 and the other a Volvo wagon (a glass house with wheels). Several people I know recommended sundown. I took a pretty hard look at the difference between traditional films and the new advanced nano-ceramic films manufactured by Huper Optik, a German company. (http://www.huperoptiku...). We went with the highest grade all the way around to include the front as well. Wow, well worth it, yes its more expensive, but what does being miserable cost. It was installed perfectly, and most importantly it has performed perfectly, at the end of the day the car stays cooler, then gets comfortable much quicker. Its really that simple. I have no problem at all recommending the product, the price, or the installer, that's if you hate stepping into an oven and it taking forever to cool down. read more

I recently purchased a new car and needed window tinting. I searched the internet (not being too familiar with the area) and stumbled across Sundown. All reviews I read from other sites gave Sundown excellent remarks. I asked a friend if they knew of good places and he gave me a list of bad places and said "there is a place somewhere in Hoover near the Riverchase area that supposedly is really good" - THIS IS THE PLACE HE WAS REFERRING TO! I am so glad I took my car to Phillip at Sundown. I dropped my car off at 9am and had a coworker drop me off to pick it up at 5pm. Let me tell you, there isn't one bubble anywhere in my tint job! EVERYONE has commented on how great my car looks. Even the hard-to-tint front window visor looks great. Phillip asked me to bring my car back in 2 weeks so he can ensure it passes his own inspection. He said if anything needed to be re-tinted he would have no prob replacing the entire section. I will drop the car back by this coming Friday, but I can already tell you it is as close to perfect as can be. And the price was more than reasonable. On their website, sundowntint.com it states a 4-door car costs $179 for the X-Treme tint or $349 for the Ceramic tint. I chose the X-Treme and was charged exactly $179... no add-on's or extras for make and model of vehicle. I did however request the front visor to be tinted which was an extra $35. To sum it up, if you are in the market for a great window tint.... DO NOT HESITATE TO VISIT SUNDOWN!!! I would gladly drive from any area in Birmingham to know my car was in the best of hands. ***LONG POST*** So after getting a new vehicle that only had the back windows tinted, one of my first tasks was to get the front two windows tinted. Knowing that tinting can be difficult, I looked on Yelp to find the tint shop in Birmingham with the best customer reviews and most experience. According to Yelp, this was Sundown Tint in Pelham. I call, schedule an appointment, and take it in to have the tint applied. I sign a sheet regarding the shops policies and procedures without any hesitation, knowing that I'm at the shop with highest customer satisfaction. At checkout, I was warned that the tint would be a little cloudy and hazy, and that some bubbles would be noticeable, but that they would cure out within a couple days. As I got in my vehicle to leave the tint shop, I noticed a couple sizeable bubbles but didn't think much of them due to what I was told about the curing process. After getting home and looking at the tint more, I notice that the tint film does not extend the full width of the window on both front windows. I decided to give that a couple days to see if it fixed itself. A couple days pass, and I notice no difference in the size and number of bubbles or the tint film stopping before the window stopped (see pics). That morning, I reach out to the email address on Sundown Tint's website (see pic). About 6 or 7 hours pass with no response. I happened to be out that way that day, and swung by the tint shop to express my concerns in person. I mentioned sending an email earlier that morning to the lady at the reception desk. She told me that she had briefly skimmed the email, but that they've been busy so she didn't respond. My first thought was that I am a customer too, so a short reply merely stating to drop by the shop to have it looked at would have sufficed. So I ask that she come look at the tint. I show her the areas that I was unhappy with and tell her that they can take the tint off and give me back my money or fix it. She obliges, and gets the manager or owner to come look at the tint job. I mention my dismay in the work done given I am a paying customer with expectations. I mention having had vehicles with windows just as if not more difficult to tint without any of the imperfections that were present on this job. In a sarcastic tone, the owner replied, "Well you're no window tinter, are you?" Y'ALL I WAS TAKEN ABACK!! I have worked a couple of service jobs and the main thing I learned is the customer is always right, no matter if concerns are legitimate or not. So he explains to me that BMWs have felt around the window sill, making it hard to get the film flush with the window without any of the felt fibers getting under the film. He goes on to tell me that only BMWs have this felt, and that the felt would have to be taped in order to get the film flush with the window. I ask why this wasn't done the first time because regardless of the felt increasing difficulty of the job, the job should have been done right. He replies that maybe the tinter was in a rush and didn't notice how the film didn't cover the whole window. Again, I'm floored at his reply, brushing the imperfections of to the fact that the tinter may have been in a hurry. I reply that I wish it was acceptable for me to get in a rush at my job and let my first effort at tasks be the end result. I explain that just because one is in a rush does not mean quality of work is less important. Keep in mind, I called to schedule this appointment so the shop would have plenty of time to put full effort into the job. After the owner or manager's comments about only BMWs having felt and that it'd have to be taped up and that it wasn't taped due to possibly being in a rush, I got the sense that he was implying that doing the job right would require an unsurmountable amount of effort that they just didn't want to put in. Against my better judgment, I scheduled an appointment for the tint to be fixed, even after the superfluous comments that were made to a paying customer who was unhappy with the clear lack of effort put into this job. I didn't exactly trust them to be in my car after pointing out each imperfection. The next day, I verify that another tint shop would be able to apply the tint film with no problems, and that the entire window would be covered. I then call Sundown Tint letting them know that I'm on my way to get a refund. On the phone Shelby simply replies ok. I get to the shop and am met by a guy (not the one from the day before) who asks what he can help me with. I reply that I was there to get my money back and that I talked to Shelby about it just minutes before. This guy tells me that he doesn't believe that they give refunds. I mention that I was offered my money back the day before and ask him to get the guy I talked to the previous day.
