After asking around for personal landscaper recommendations, I chose Sunflower. To say I was impressed and still love the result is an understatement. Early in the process, I worked closely with one of their talented designers, Sam. She listened to my goals for a xeriscaped and native vegetation yard and made suggestions regarding rock type and color, as well as the most appropriate plants. Her design was beautiful and worked with the landscape and grading (which spoke to her knowledge of plants after working in a nursery as well as her impeccable design aesthetic). When it came time for planting and rock delivery, I worked with Michael, who I nicknamed the "landscape and grade whisperer." He ensured the team laid the drip irrigation and weed paper where it needed to go, artfully placed the river rock and gravel, and planted the trees, shrubs, and flowers in appropriate spots depending on the grading. Even when Michael wasn't on-site, the crew did such an amazing job of carefully placing rock and plants in the most appropriate locations. Nine months later (and after some serious rainstorms, snow, and temperatures anywhere between the high 90s and negative 10s), and still no rock cave-ins, gravel spillage, or vegetation issues. The Sunflower team brought up topics and questions that didn't even occur to me -- things like "I see that the original dry riverbed was to be placed here but, looking at the post-construction grading and location of your drain pipes, I recommend we move it here; is that ok?" And "Seeing where the sun will shine in winter versus summer, I suggest we swap these plants; is that alright with you?" Yes, please! We also used Sunflower when it came time for winterization. They came to bid our new construction project five weeks ago. Sheldon told us the plan and bid would be done in two weeks. After three weeks, we attempted to call them and left multiple voicemails for an update, and we never received a returned call. Today, five weeks after they came out, Sheldon left a voicemail stating nothing had been done on our project. It was a complete waste of time. Look elsewhere for people who value your time and money. After I called them for a landscape bid, they did come out very timely. The gentleman was very nice as he walked my property and took notes. After that I never heard back from them. Even after I called them a week later to follow up on an estimate they said they would get back to me and then I never heard from them again! Why come out and waste my time and their time if they are not going to follow up with an estimate? Very disappointed in them. read more

Just needed to give Sheldon a lot of love after today. Sunflower landscapes (comprised of Sheldon and Dustin) did our whole backyard 4 years ago and it's beautiful! A week ago we got a call from the utility company letting us know that our water usage had gone up 1500 percent from one day to the next. After ruling out something inside the house we realized there was a problem with the irrigation. Sheldon came out today and looked at all the irrigation stuff, figured out what was going on, took apart and put back together part of the sprinkler system, and everything was fixed. We have 2.5 acres, and wanted a beautiful yard that blended with the rest of the native property. They came up with a great design, addressed our unique challenges with the sloped terrain of our property, and handled our erosion concerns as well. They built gorgeous retaining walls, a patio, some rock steps, and an awesome firepit. Their crew was hardworking, professional, and cleaned up after themselves each day. Outstanding landscapers who are reasonably priced, do great work and are just good people. I built a house from across the country, and put a bid out with 8 different landscapers. Neil was the first to respond and the only one that actually listened to, and designed, exactly what I wanted. Prices were very competitive. Communication with me was great from concept and design phase through installation. Dustin (owner) came out and met with me each day during installation to ensure I was satisfied.
